CAP Agree there too. The Chevies and GMCs of 67-72 were the second best looking. The mid to late 50's GM trucks were the best looking, I think..
But honestly, I've never met an early 50's thru late 80's American pickup that I didn't like. :-D
But I was practicing constraint when I made my first comment. 🤣

My grand pa had this same truck, but RWD, red color, in the early 70s. He took me for rides around the country roads, when we got home I started to cry every time because I wanted to keep going. Now I'm grown up in my early 50s, am thinking to buy one of these trucks to drive it around on week ends, that will bring lots of wonderful memories of a happy childhood.

This is my dream truck. I had a '76 F250 when I was a kid and I loved it. It was so old and ratty that I couldn't keep it, but I'll always miss that vehicle. I used to be able to watch the road go by through the hole in the floor and I miss that. I don't know why, I mean it was objectively a junk vehicle but something in my head clicks the nostalgia button on when I see one

This truck is a great build!
My Dad had a '70 Ford F100 Ranger 2WD...man, I remember riding in that baby when I was a very small boy, just a seat belt across my lap, my dad shifting on the column while alternating drags off his Winston cigarettes. SBC 302, three on the tree, bench seat, lots of metal in the interior. My dad seemed so young and vital driving his rig and putting his time in being a good dad and provider.
So much fun, I get misty-eyed thinking about it. I wish I had the cheese to get him another one almost like it before he leaves us for good. And a blue '66 Impala coupe with a 327 with a 4 speed.
    Thanks, Pop!

So this brings back my truck lust from childhood. I used to ride in my Granddad's truck; very much like this one, doing farm work, fishing trips, and whiskey visits with his friends. I remember riding in that truck the first time I was offered a sip of shine. (It was a different world back then). I loved that truck and this brings back so many memories. Wonderful job on this build Jonathan!!! Thanks for the memories.

Wow! I know this day would come; I just did not know that it would come so soon. In 1982 I bought a 1972 F100 8 ft. long fleetside Ford pickup. The engine is a straight-six 240 with a three-speed on the column manual transmission. It had under 100,000 miles when I bought it and I put 150,000 miles on it. I was told that it would never be a collector’s truck but now it is. Cool, I will drive my truck thinking I am now in style. Have a good day.

My jaw is on the floor. This is such an AMAZING truck. I'm not usually one for 'resto-mods' or putting new stuff on the old vehicles, but dang... you can't even tell!! They did this with so much care for the original styling, and in many ways improved on things without changing the appearance (seat, dash, etc.). I can't even begin to imagine the cost of this project -- probably more than I'll make in several years -- but kudos to Mr. Ward and ICON. You have my respect!

My Dad had picked up a 1970 F250 Longbed Highboy about 25 years ago, and we used it as our field service truck for several years. It's got the old 390 iron head that never worked exactly right. It has the 4 speed manual and part time 4X4 with lockouts. It's retired now, and sitting in our polebarn along with my 66 GMC I1000 I'm hoping to restore someday.
We also had an F100 1970 that Dad had bought in the mid 1970's but he sold that one a few years ago. Exact same body style but it was a 2X4 instead of 4X4. That one only saw winter use on nice days. It had the 360 from the factory which was the same block as the 390. My uncle also had an F250 as his service truck. He had replaced the engine at one point because it was getting a little tired, so Dad put that engine in his F100 because his 360 had gone out. We ran it that way until he sold it. Even a tired 390 was better than the 360.

Only thing i would change is the engine. I would have went with the 7.3 cam in valley engine (godzilla). Much better torque and more useful for truck applications like towing. Not to mention Reliability is way better with OHV engines over OHC, DOHC. More complexity and moving parts = not as reliable. Or maybe a LSX but i would have stayed ford like you guys did cause it old with the new.

Soooo clean and tasteful! Perfect modernization of this classic. My second car was a '78 (10 years old then) round-headlight Bronco. Very similar body with the clamshell hood. 400M with 4 speed, granny low 1st. Full of character, but smooth over rough pavement it was not.

Man, the interior, just nailed it, in an instant I'm 5 years old again riding in "Rusty Truck" we named it, hand me down trucks from Grandpa. Except yours is in way better condition lol, we had holes in the floor and laughed and laughed when we'd go through puddles on purpose to watch the water splash in.
Ya never know what you'll remember from time with your Dad.
    Great job!

My dad had a 78' & 79' when I was a teen, and those are still some of my favourite trucks, next to the aero body of the late 90s early 2000s.

1969 F100 was my 1st vehicle it would not be my last.
I worked at a Ford dealer after school and Saturday's.
The dealer was in Arizona and sold lots of trucks and I worked in the
" new get ready shop" that's where we removed all the shipping protection, then put on the mirrors, wheel covers and such.
    My 1st was a 69 F100 swb 360, C6 trans, Ranger trim package, next 74 F100 4wd that I dropped a FoMoCo CJ 4v intake and Holley 4v carb in it.
    Next 1976 F250 4wd that I ordered custom built. $6,700 in July '76.
It was destroyed just after I paid the 13 payment.
Next 75 F150 4wd. This one I highly customized it. Starting with a 428 CJ I built. Custom roll cage, bed bar, custom made front winch bumper, Warn 8000 winch, then I made a 34-gallon gas tank for it. Put a Dana T case from a 75 Bronco, replacing the single-speed unit with a 2 spd.
4" lift, SVO limited slip 9" pumpkin.
Had it 5 years, bought it back 5 years later, kept it 3 years, sold to buy a new Service Truck.
10 years later bought back, kept it for 5 years, then gave it to my oldest grandson after he graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Training, San Diego. With the promise it stayed in the Family.
    My 1st diesel-powered truck was in 83, F250, 6.9 with manual trans.
Then on to the 1st gen 7.3.
Next was in 93, purchased new a F350 4wd cab and chassis 7.3 PowerStroke 5 spd trans, dropped a new service body on it and went to work.
    Then a 97 F350 PowerStroke 4wd pick up.
    An 03 F350 4wd 6.0 P/ U
    06 F350 4wd 6.0 added to the fleet.
    And currently a 2011 F350 Superduty 6.7.
I didn't purchase my 1st car until my wife became pregnant with our 3rd child, who is now 34.
    I've had other vehicles too.
    A 74 Bronco, 86 CJ7, 78 CJ 7,
    FL 70 Freightliner, 2 Mustangs, 1 a Shelby, GMC 7500 Service truck, 75 CJ5 and the 1st car I bought a 74 GrandSquire station wagon
    For my wife and kids.
All my kids (3 girls) drive pick up trucks to this day. My 2 step sons also Drive P/Us, a family thing I
I have been in the mechanic trade 40 plus years with most years as owner. I've worked on it all from small cars to heavy equipment had a custom shop that included Shelby Mustangs and Cobras. . have enjoyed myself along the way rebuilding classic vehicles, sold several at Barrett shows in Scottsdale and even a few at R/S shows in the same city.
In the classic car / truck market customizing old iron ruins their value. This truck will never sell for what it could have if it had been restored to original specs, tens of thousands of dollars less now.
Restored 1st gen Broncos when restored to stock go for over $50K
Now stock restored trucks are doing the same.
To each his own, but if you ever sale you will regret the mods.
    Plus they are fast disappearing.
    part of history.

This truck is awesome like all the other builds that you and your team have done. Well done sir, you are the master builder for sure. They are never over or under done, they are just right. I could listen to your presentation for hours and hours, please keep doing them and go into even more detail, we'll listen. Thank you for all the great builds. God bless you and stay safe.

Looks super nice. Wish I could take it for a spin. It sits a bit high for my liking and not sure about the raised bed floor but really think its top quality build. Would be nice to see some close up shots under the front end.

the raised bed floor bothers me. why go to THAT level of perfection and do that. My guess is that its somehow the customers fault.
