I can see myself now. Burnin down them backroads, cruisin through little towns, my wife sittin next to me, our hands out the window blastin Brooks n Dunn’s song Hillbilly Deluxe!! Man my new dream truck right here!!
The more and more I see these new, almost fully electric trucks. The more I miss the old schools. Man, I havent seen groundhogs or super swampers thornburgs since 99! Had those on my 81 & 85 broncos. Miss those trucks! Respect the work on this one!
I loved my 38"" "Ground Hawgs" on my 1979 F-350. Damn Great Tire in the mud. They cleaned off nicely going forward for traction and dug like a crazy in reverse. My truck use to throw shovel sized chunks of mud thirty feet in the air. Sad, they are not made anymore.
Man that is nice! I have a '78 F250 4x4 just like that but no where near as nice. I kept the '77 style grille because I was sick of the people arguing about what was "proper" for '78 so I swapped the Bronco/fishmouth grille for a '77 You are right about not being able to do highway speeds so on mine I ditched the C6 for an E4OD and now I get some strange looks keeping up with traffic at 70+mph! Oh and I didnt know the Denman Ground Hawg tire was back in production so I Googled it just now to find out that in 2017 Interco started making them again! I think I'll throw a set of those in my truck when the Baja Claws wear out. Thanks for showing us this sweet ride!
If you have to ask , you probable can't afford it , and still have to spring for some aftermarket Air Conditioning , Super nice build thanks Vanguard Motor Sales
If you were a business owner you would understand why their prices are expensive. They have to make money somehow. You just have to appreciate that they actually sell high quality vehicles. But you have to ask yourself would you rather have a new F150 Raptor or this classic truck. These trucks are just going up and up in value. I can tell you this I’ve been watching Vanguard motors for nearly 10 years and if you would of bought from them 10 years ago you would’ve paid a 1/4 of the price compared to todays prices. Theres a lot of people out there with money I can tell you people in Japan or even in the Middle East would pay these premium prices. If you were to build this truck you would spend over 100k alone not to mention it’ll probably be in the shop for 2-5 years if you’re lucky 😂
Very nice looking truck. You asked about round verses square headlights. This is what I was told years ago. Regular leaded gas fazed out mid 78. First half of year was okay . Second half was not. To keep the difference round headlights was the first half. Square headlight was the second. 78 1/2 Had smog pump, smaller gas filler for unleaded gas not to get regular gas pump nozzle. Catalyst converter on exhaust. All can be taken off And still run.(gas filler was beaten out to receive regular gas being fazed out) 78 round headlight 78 1/2 square headlight FYI
The 1978 CUSTOM trim had round headlights the 78 RANGER had square. In 79 all got square regardless of trim. Nothing to do with 1/2 year early or late.
I love hot rod cars and had a few,I've also had some raced up 4x4s . Two lifted with massive tires . I would love this truck more than the car. I'd drive too.
1st) there is no sway bar up front the item pointed to is a pan hard bar 2nd) no liners on frt finders? there should be big plastic inner fenders to protect metel 3rd) big difference between painted new paint and rebuilt rebuild and replaced noticed these terms being used with complete disregurd of actual state of condition regard to parts ect
Besides the tires.. the first thing I'd take off and throw in the nearest garbage can is the Holly carb.. and get and Edelbrock 800 CFM With Electric Choke,
I always heard that in 1978 you could get the chrome square headlights. In 1979 you got the black square headlights. Just a little piece of information that I got from an old man about 35 years ago. Rip Buck Brown.
In 78 the custom trim level had round lights and the upper trim levels had the square ones with black around the lights. I think the Ranger XLT Lariets had the fully chomed bezells in 78 and 79
Yes I had a 1978 f250 that some scumbag stole from me in New Jersey 6 months after I bought it. And yes it had square head lights. I miss that truck. First new vehicle I bought
My pops bought one in 1979 we were getting ready to leave and a semi was coming down the road with my dad's truck grayish silver tone painted high boy pulled a lot of truck out of the mud 😂
that is a Beautiful superduty, it's a Rich man's toy well over $ 100,000 dollars, I'm a Blue collar worker and can only dream about owning a Great truck like that
I can see myself now. Burnin down them backroads, cruisin through little towns, my wife sittin next to me, our hands out the window blastin Brooks n Dunn’s song Hillbilly Deluxe!! Man my new dream truck right here!!
1978 custom had that style grille but with round headlights. Ranger, xlt, and Lariat had square. In 1979, they were all square regardless of trim.
Amazing how many people don't know that little detail.
Nope
To bad it's red?
Beautiful though
You can't say enough about Vanguard; they are the absolute best!!! Their quality is unmatched ✊
What a beautiful Ford F-250 pick up truck. ❤
Now that’s a sweet truck! You can hear the bias ply ground hawg tires shaking your voice as you drive it around haha
The more and more I see these new, almost fully electric trucks. The more I miss the old schools. Man, I havent seen groundhogs or super swampers thornburgs since 99! Had those on my 81 & 85 broncos. Miss those trucks! Respect the work on this one!
The tires are as much a classic as the rest of the truck is. Absolutely beautiful.
Yes square headlight same as the bronco of the same years. BEAUTIFUL!
Beautiful red paint! Those ground hawg tires are total throw back and period correct for that rig 👍
I loved my 38"" "Ground Hawgs" on my 1979 F-350.
Damn Great Tire in the mud.

Sweet ol' Ford! Congradulations to the new owner.

I just can't imagine taking this off-road. Love everything about it and built like a tank.
I'm not a Ford guy, but yes, in 78 you could get either round or rectangle headlights. Beautiful truck
