    As a women who survived being held hostage in sexually assaulted in Egypt, I would not recommend women to travel there. It doesn't matter what clothes you have on, tourists will still be looked down on and harassed regardless. Because of corruption, asking the police for help can completely backfire and can be dangerous. If you are traveling to Egypt, please have a bodyguard with you whenever you wander around!

      Oh wow, I'm so sorry you experienced that and thank you for sharing. Though, one experience doesn't discount the other - both are possible. I visited and had a wonderful experience so I know with certainty that it is also possible. I agree that having a reputable tour guide with you is a great help when walking around too.

      I was hitching to Elat with my girl, an Egyptian freight bus driver took us to Elat/ Aqaba, it was very hot and he invited us to have a shower at the hotel he stayed at. We were both about 18 and the girl was Israeli. Short story he separated us and tried to rape her. She said dont report to police as you cant trust them. Later that night we found a group of Backpackers at the beach and told story to them.
      Later that night his bus pulled up and he walked over, we hid in the middle of about 20 people in dusk, so he didnt see us. Scariest thing he had a gun in his hand. This was in1979, flew out of Tel Aviv later, it was the first and only time I hve ever heard a cheer at take off. Trust no one.

    @NajLahsen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't know about other people but I've always liked to "blend in" with locals for each country I've visited. There's several reasons for this. But for the Arabic countries the modesty to me is even more important than anything due to a form of respect for the ppl , their culture and religion. I will cover up from head to toe, and wear their local garments I HAVE NO PROBLEM. There's a time and place for everything. Once I go to a particular country I obey their laws, regulations, customs etc (whether I approve or not)... because I'm in their land, and I chose to go there. I must respect.

    • @KatieShowBlog
      @KatieShowBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Women don't need to be covered head to toe though and I never said that. It's best to just be covered shoulders to knees. There are plenty of ways to do this with light, breathable fabrics (I did this) so it's not too uncomfortable. Also the same shoulder to knees guideline applies to men - my audience is mostly women so I talk about tips for women.
