I don't understand Nike at all. Someone in the company has to realize that cutting costs is going to hurt their brand. The MOST important thing is the product. If a person is willing to spend almost 200 on a shoe, it better be a banger. All the bells and whistles.
Had both the Hustle Academy and the Cut Academy in my hands today at the store. The Hustle feel so cheap, it‘s wild that they‘re the same price as the Cut. The most sustainable decision from Nike would‘ve been to just not make them and save the material
Aside from everything else on this shoe, it’s good to see flyknit again, I feel like it is one of Nikes best technologies and they hardly use it, and in the tennis space they haven’t used flyknit since 2017
I've tried it and can understand what the intention is for the shoe. It's catered to lighter weighted agility players, low to ground feel, wide toe box and overall softer sole for foot mobility vs plentiful of flagship brick shoes where your feet is completely rigid due to the stiffness of the shoe. I reckon with decent insole inserts would make this shoe good for a PG or SG with lots of lateral and driving movement.

So this "Academy" version maintains the low heel-height, low heel-drop, and great court-feel DNA of the GT Hustle 2, AND the traction is greatly improved? Sign me up! As long as these are as wide-foot friendly as the Hustle 2s (which were great), these are sounding like a great fit for me. I definitely prefer minimalist shoes, and I'm always looking for that middle ground between a barefoot-style shoe and a more cushioned, supportive shoe (as you need for a court sport like basketball). So to answer your question, there are those of us out there who are asking for shoes like this... I'm sure I'm in the minority, but what I'm looking for is a shoe that's low to the ground, has great court-feel and traction, adequate (but not excessive) cushion, and a wide toe-box.
Me, I am more in the minority than you, i am part of the one who like every shoes, i like high show, mid shoe and low shoe. Even if i am a small/power forward! This can be really good if you try at least to like it a little bit, they are not the best but they can do the job. I think people just like to hate new shoe, now.
Whenever talking about the fit of the shoe, I think showing the measurement of the shoe’s insole (length & toe space) can give some idea of the proportions.
With the glut of pretty basic signature models, plus the GT Series, plus Nike's existing budget models... I don't get the need for these Academy models. Especially TWO Cut Academy models 😵💫🤦♂️

That’s false- I pay for most and get some selected shoes from some brands some of the time - vast majority of basketball shoes I pay for , tennis shoes I get for free the majority of the time though through Tennis Warehouse. The TH-cam channel has become a small sized business now through with everything tied to it so every shoe is an investment and without buying them this business would be DOA

Just bought this shoe yesterday and I love it. Traction is superb, extremely light weight and I love the colorway.
