The IVC had a 5 million strong population in 1900bc when in it declined and disappeared. Archeological study confirms that no human remains are found to suggest a violent invasion.
It appears that the the IVC was subject to a systematic and strategic evacuation in response to external aggression at the time. The evacuation was followed by migration towards the east and the south.- mixed with hunter gatherers to become the ASI

Regarding saraswathi can it be that the central asian steppe groups(indo arians) have reassigned a “venerable name” to a river(current gagra river) in the area they settled and finally compiled rigveda? Since they have a common origin with indo iranians and share lot of deities and fables with them, isnt it quiet possible that they remember the grand “saraswati” from their previous homeland in lower central asia and upper afganistan and after one or two centuries of migration to new area reassigned the name of their venerable river goddess to a river that is in the new area of settlement. That could explain many contradictions in rigveda regarding saraswati as they might be mixing up their previous “memories and beliefs” and current geographical specifications .
Isnt it an important possibility. Names are frequently carried to new places of settlement by groups of people in history often as i understand .

    • @kiranraavi4240
      @kiranraavi4240 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have heard of this theory as well. It is difficult because the Rigveda and other evidences are mainly poetic, not cartography or literal descriptions. So we have to infer any meaning while understanding this. Others have said that Saraswati is likely just upper reaches of Gaggar-Hakra, and the poetic descriptions like "on rushing, ever flowing" are meant not literally, but as praise. For example if I were to write poem on my wife, I would say things like "most beautiful in the world, radiant, perfect in every way". But if someone found it years later, maybe they will think I literally married some otherworldly beauty? It makes history study more interesting and fun, but probably also more difficult!

Well, it is true that Marshall was not an archeologist, but hey, his works ought not be dismissed so easily or derisively. (I guess I was introduced to Marshall through his Rig Veda Primer many decades ago.. so I feel a little sympathetic hehe). We learn over time and I guess what seemed like the truth at one time might have a different meaning later. (Tilak and his Arctic home theory, for example. We can laugh at it. But hey, we even read Pargiter and we feel ok with his timelines and Kuru dynasty history and all... even HC Roychowdhury quoted heavily from his works.. at least I give credit for the superhuman effort.. ).
Look at some of the discoveries by non-historians or non-archeologists.. The Rosetta Stone of India.. Devanagari script deciphered.. and some of the earliest Dravidian dictionaries by Missionaries - Kittel, Manor et al...
But what is curious is that in a place where such ancient civilizations existed, there is no formal field of study for Archeology. Isn't it? I am not sure, but I guess there isn't. Even the ASI trains people in rudimentary archeological techniques, I think. Is there even a degree for archeology anywhere in India? I am not sure. I am ignorant about this. Never studied history or archeology, so I am not aware of much of the formal studies or degrees in this field.
Lastly, Siva/Pasupati/Rudra debate... I guess it is natural that a superior race in smaller numbers ruling over a large subject populace would in fact embrace local totems, symbols, gods, deities, customs in order to get better assimilated in the region and prevent outright rebellion. At least, that is what I imagine.
Someone else commented that the Vedic people eschewed idol worship and snake worship. One cannot be certain about the idol worship aspect, but as for snake worship, it is but natural. Who were the enemies of the Rig Vedic people or even the Puranic ones? The Nagas, amongst others. The snake was their totem. Therefore, it is natural that this hostility shows up in their religious practices as well. Similarly, in the Puranic and later narratives, the main enemies are the dark people (the asuras), the nagas (Uloopi and so on), the yakshas.. The point is, for an alien race, everyone not immediately under their control was the enemy. Is it any wonder that Rama on his search for Sita found only monkeys, demons, and sundry other creatures but not one human being south of the Vindhyas?
Someone mentioned Avilokiteshwara as well!!! Alas, I have been trying to fight that concept for a while now. Here, in Mangalore, for instance, there is a famous temple called Kadri Temple. The statue there is of Avilokiteshwara.. this temple was founded by the founder of the mutt of our very dear Mr. Bisht of UP... Gorakhnath.. what existed before was a Jain Temple and before that a Buddhist Vihara that was forcibly turned into a Siva temple. A Jain deity as Siva... fine.. wonderful. There are multiple examples of Jain and Buddhist locations forcibly or violently converted into Hindu temples, but if you even whisper it, there will be a ton of poison thrown at you. Never mind.
Thanks for sharing this video. Much appreciated.

@@eyeshadowetihaaswithruchika That was an engaging read. One suggestion I would like to give you is to create content on the eradication of Buddhism from India. Buddhism, indeed, challenged the hegemony of Brahmin religion and presented various critiques. Authors like Uma Chakravarti have extensively written on this topic, and some Bahujan writers have also contributed. Therefore, consider making a video on the extinction of Buddhism-examining whether it occurred naturally or by force.

I always find it absurd how Historians seem to ignore the possibility that there might have been more influences the current Shiva than the Vedic Rudra.
As I stated in your previous video as well, in the Rig Veda both snake worship and phallic worship is condemned. (EDIT: also idol worship is condemned) So what is the origin of phallic worship of Shiv / Shiv Shakti from the post vedic times. Did they magically appear out of nothing or perhaps the customs of the local peoples that were non or pre vedic inhabitants of India (roughly 70% of the population according to DNA analysis) have an impact on religion, customs and traditions? It's absurd to think that the local population had no impact on tradition custom and religious practices.
Proto Shiva is not JUST Rudra. There can be and obviously are more than 1 influence that have been syncretised into the modern or even the Puranic Shiva ( and most other Hindu Gods/Godesses). Edit: This is not to say that it is Pashupatinath or Shivlingam as one would far more concrete proof for such claims.
Other than this point I must say I enjoy your videos quite a bit.
PS Yagya Havans were supposed to be destroyed/ unassembled post use.

Hey mam , I’m population genetic , history and archaeology enthusiast…..My caste is Ror which have highest steppe ancestry in South Asia . I live near Kurukshetra .
I wanna share you something important which I observe uh always miss in your video …Vedic land - Haryana
Actually, there are more than hundred of archeological site (Painted Grey Ware ) in Kurukshetra Kaithal jind hisar district of Haryana which was also part of kuru kingdom.
All those sites has carbon dating on average 1000 BCE .
These sites are mostly on palaeochannel of tributaries of Saraswati . One thing which strange about my region is that you will find good quality water in these area …rest of Haryana doesn’t have that much good water table and water quality .You can also check ISRO report for more info .

I am from Afghanistan. I have been reading about my country’s history and its indigenous people. So far, studies shows that Tajiks are indigenous people of the land but I couldn’t find transcripts about Pashtun or Pathan (Pashtuns way of life is completely different from Tajiks) and Hazaras (Hazaras are in the center of Afghanistan and their facial features aren’t similar to Tajiks and Pashtuns. They look more like Chinese) and also there are Buddha statues in Afghanistan as well as Tajikustan. Does this mean that Tajiks who are aryans were Buddhist or Hindus before? I will be very grateful if you make a video about it.
