I appreciate the fact that the converse look like they are actually worn and not a shiny new pair they bought just for the video. I think a worn pair of shoes fits the song much better.
I think this is Nate’s shoes. Look at Carry On’s video. In that, there’s a clip of them performing at some place and the camera zooms on these shoes. Nate was wearing them. Their song names and and album names are written on it.
@@yatharthbakshiWell, I think it's different. Look more carefully at the 'Carry On' MV, it says 'Fun. some night, some night, etc' in his shoes but in this MV the lyrics of the song are written.
I love when Fun flexes their musical creativity like this. Their rhythms tend to take on this cool, marching band feel, and their lyrics make you think. On a side note, while watching this video I'm caught between being mesmerized by the different fonts and text flow, and being dizzy from all the spinning.
I love this song because my dad was diagnosed with Leukemia and when Nate was talking about his dad and said he was fighting all his life, that spoke to me
"Love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love, cannot be killed or swept aside, now fill the world with music, love, and pride.” ~Lin-Manuel Miranda
If we all learn to just put one foot in front of the other, instead of worrying about societal norms and conforming to what society believes we should be, and just learn to be individuals. We all rely too much on religion, the media, and others to define who we are. Be who you want to be. Be the best you can be. Strive for it until you are, and strive to maintain that. The sooner we learn this, the better we will all be.
It's less a matter of learning to live that way so much as it is breaking tens of thousands of years of human evolution, where conformity actually meant life or death. These days humanity has developed such an easy lifestyle in so many parts of the world that we tend to base all human behavior off societal norms that we forget the biological elements that impact us as a species.
2:08 is so relatable 💔💔 I'm now over 25 and I remember the first time I heard this song thinking I hope this will not be me. It breaks my heart right now, I haven't achieved anything in life and some nights I breakdown and cry
sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
I love the energetic amount of hope in fun.'s songs! They sing about moving forward in your life even without knowing all the answers without being corny or sounding like a Mariah Carey song. The band really lives up to its namesake.
"So up off the ground, our forefathers are nothing but dust now." I do believe the world would become a much better place if the majority of humanity adhered to these wonderfully progressive lyrics.
This album helped get me through rehab..along with 13th Step by A Perfect Circle. I know, opposite ends of the spectrum, but both healing in their own right.
Let's stop thinking about the message for just one minute and just listen to the sound. It beat and everything is so good. I saw them live a couple of days ago and this song had everyone out of their seat. This is a jam!
Talifer, this song is criticizing Christianity and their outlook on homosexuals. The "I've got friends locked in boxes" is referencing friends still in the closet. He backs up from the church because he thinks of the discrimination happening inside. And "What you're calling a sin isn't up to them" part is referencing how the controversial theory of you can't chose your sexuality, and in the bible it says to kill/cast out homosexuals. I myself am a Christian, but I support gays and I respect other's religions and don't force mine upon them.
I strongly oppose the existence of religion in any form, particularly Christianity, as a Catholic apostate myself. I happen to stumble upon a chapel last night. And I can’t help but back up when I think of what happens inside. I got friends locked in boxes (That's no way to live). What you're callin' a sin isn't up to them. After all (after all), I thought we were all your children. But I will die for my own sins - thanks a lot. Seriously??? Musical artists use their songs to express ideas, thoughts, and feelings that they have. He means what's in his songs more than the things he says in regular conversation. His song IS his message.
It's 2020.. why did it take me so long for me to have heard this song? I really like this band they had SOOOO much potential and y'know 2020(21) would be a great time to come back onto the music scene y'know
so today i was in a store and heard this 'random' christmas song playing, and i thought i was going mad, but i coulda sworn it was Nate's voice singing, so i asked siri what i was listening to, and he listened for it, and brought up this song, Sleigh Ride by Fun. was so happy to have recognised it
You know what's sad? The fact that this is an amazing song that deserves so much more credit than it's gotten, but it's 3rd if you search One Foot, because of Walk the Moon's song, which doesn't come close to being as good. What's more, you go onto that song and there are people on the comments praising the song and saying that it's underrated, and absolutely no mention of Fun whatsoever.
This lyric video really left an impression on me, I remember watching this back then and loving the creativity of how it was filmed. Really one of a kind
guys. guys the church part isn´t just about being gay. It´s about being anything the church doesn´t approve of. So literatly any LGBT person, not just gay. There are much more as well, like christians who aren´t "propper christians", and if we go a lil´ further people who have sex with more than one partner throughout their life, sex and/or children before marriage etc. Also loooove this song so much and the video is nothing short of art. worth listning to and watching even if you don´t really like the sound of it unlike me who obsesses over it.
i feel like im probably the only black teenager who listens to music like this...lol maybe it's just me feeding into stereotypes but alot of teen blacks i kno listens to ppl like lil Wayne & Chris Brown while I'm listening to Fun. & Panic! At the disco.
I'm black and I love this type of music . panic ! At the disco is currently my favorite band actually. But , I also love rap at the same time . I'm black too
Awwww..... so beautiful! I love Nate and all these beautiful sounds! I might get kicked out of a homeless shelter for listening to this... but you know... whatever... it was worth it... even if I have to go out and lay in that 22 degree weather. It made my night.
Absolutely true, shouldn't let some stupid letters on a piece of paper rule your life, you'd be surprised, a lot of the people who are disppointed with their results end up doing better than those who get the best, it's not all about intelligence :)
I don't think he talk about God, but WHAT IS GOD FOR SOCIETY! In this song really truth meaning is his blame for all and he try to understand what is true and what is not! Why better people always have pain? Why but bad people is always glad? Why society hate and use teen? God is only is metaphor. God is such society!
This is literally my favorite song the beat is AMAZING!!!! FUN. is just straight awesome. It is very true that there are alot of songs out there that get all kinds of radio play and they aren"t half as good as this one. just AMAZING
This message is amazing. If being gay is such a sin, then why did god make people gay in the first place? It's not a choice. People discriminate against them for no reason other than "It's a sin and it's weird." Yep, you know what? Even if it WAS a choice, we are all forgiven for our sins no matter what, and with it being weird, how is it weirder than people being together with the opposite gender? Even after all of these points against them they are still stubborn. At the end of the day, you just can't fix stupid. Before anyone comments and is like "WAO U DUNT BELEV IN GOD U GUNNA GU TO HEL" I come from a christian family and I'm christian myself.
To be fair, it's not stupid to discriminate against gay people. They have to have at least an average functioning brain to be able to think of half the insults they come up with. Not to mention some research into religious texts to back up their point. No, I don't think they're stupid. Just awful and judgemental and bigoted and selfish people who think of nothing but their own happiness and well-being. I mean, being gay is a sin, sure let's give them that. BUT by condemning and judging homosexuals, they themselves have become hypocrites because isn't it also a sin to throw insults at people? To judge and hate them for a choice they made? To be emotionally and physically violent against them in worst-case-scenarios? They're no better than the people they discriminate against, if not worse.
Everyone has sins they have to overcome, for people who are gay, well their challenge is much more difficult. I don't hate gays, the only sinful nature (which this is all just my theory) about them is the sex part (straight sex is also a sin, mind you), I believe that God gave us the ability to love who ever we want so long as we put God first. But sex was never meant for lust, or to satisfy one's desires. It was meant to create more humans, not that I'm saying being gay is only sex, I'm not an idiot. So again It's okay to love anyone, but it's not okay (from a Christian standpoint) to have sex with the same sex. Just like its not okay to have sex before marriage. Now I'm not judging or anything, I'm as sinful as you can get.
And anyone who says that you're going to hell is basically sinning drastically, no one can say that a person is going to hell, no one can make that judgement except God
"Maybe I should learn to shut my mouth I am over twenty-five and I can't make a name for myself Some nights I break down and cry I'm lucky that my father's still alive He's been fighting all his life and if this is all I've ever known Then may his soul live on forever in my song“
Why is everyone saying to be thankful god gave u ur voice? Like respect what he believes or what he's trying to say I'm an atheist and I don't think "god" made me the person I am I think my friends and family did and god didn't make him famous that's just dumb
Fun has to be one of my favorite bands even though Nate sometimes uses a little to much auto-tune. But other than that all of the lyrics are amazing along with the music in the background! :D
RobertoChocula HAVE YOU EVER HEARD SOME NIGHTS. THATS HOW WE GET THAT IDEA. Don't get me wrong it's a great song it's just yeeeesh that one whole section sounds like it was done by a robot.
I happened to stumble upon a chapel last night and I can't help but back up when I think of what happens inside I've got friends locked in boxes that's no way to live what you're calling a sin isn't up to them after all after all I thought we were all your children but I will die for my own sins thanks a lot we will rise up ourselves thanks for nothing at all so up off the ground our forfathers are nothing but dust now
That is my favorite line. He is just absolutely right and I love how he doesn't care to express it, he is thumbing his nose at those who sit in judgement on others in the name of religion. God bless him, God probably does for keeping it real :)
Wow some of these comments are so idiotic. Everyone thinks they know everything. Stop guessing things you don't truly or fully understand and then giving it to someone else as the correct answer. How annoying

Their song names and and album names are written on it.

the message is simple write on your shoes to make them interesting
This song needs to be played more these days. Honestly the message is very relevant

^
I agree completely! People judge others because of what they are attracted to? Our generation is so messed up
Don't let comments interpret the song for you if you wanna enjoy it in your own context.
Why does this song make me happy when it generally isn't? OH because it's FUN (:
"Maybe I should learn to shut my mouth
I am over twenty-five and I can't make a name for myself
Some nights I break down and cry
I'm lucky that my father's still alive
He's been fighting all his life and if this is all I've ever known
Then may his soul live on forever in my song“
I love how the whole album Some Nights connects. I mean the songs connect to each other. :) love ya, FUN!
the perfect video for those with a foot fetish and taste in good alternative music
Why is everyone saying to be thankful god gave u ur voice? Like respect what he believes or what he's trying to say I'm an atheist and I don't think "god" made me the person I am I think my friends and family did and god didn't make him famous that's just dumb
By the power of bleedin' atheism...
Saw this live 2 days ago, so amazing!!!!!!!! Stuck in my head ever since!
so gooooooooood!!!!
Fun has to be one of my favorite bands even though Nate sometimes uses a little to much auto-tune. But other than that all of the lyrics are amazing along with the music in the background! :D
AGREED
you might like The Format(his old band) the music is quite different but there's less auto-tuning.
Enjoy the autotune. Fun. uses it for aesthetic purposes. It's part of the song :)
+JuicePouch have you seen fun's concerts? He sounds exactly the same, I don't know how you got the idea of too much auto tune
RobertoChocula HAVE YOU EVER HEARD SOME NIGHTS. THATS HOW WE GET THAT IDEA. Don't get me wrong it's a great song it's just yeeeesh that one whole section sounds like it was done by a robot.

This is the best song about atheism I've every heard. I love it!
Wow, a powerful song, well written with no pulled punches. Love it.
This is one of my favorite songs. I just love Fun.
Wow some of these comments are so idiotic. Everyone thinks they know everything. Stop guessing things you don't truly or fully understand and then giving it to someone else as the correct answer. How annoying
Bitch!!! No one asked for your input!!!!
I'm sorry. Did someone ask for yours? I'm pretty sure you don't know me well enough to know that I'm a bitch. You're probably like 13 lol
Lol imagine getting in a fight about shutting up like 7 years ago
