The minute someone suggests the cars would be rented every single day, that's all you need to know to throw their proposal in the shredder. LOL
I'd piss on it on camera
@Anton Zuykov remember everyone: if your shredder is rated for 8 sheets at a time, the most you should ever put in at once is 6 sheets.
I love my shredder! It's over twenty years old now, heavy duty. It'll take several sheets at a time and it happily eats up staples. Cross cut of course, tiny squares, not those long bs strips...
Awesome 👍

Rob just fixed Kevin's high school assignment from a grade of C- to an A.
@Anton Zuykov damn bro... you really just tore up our Democratic school system in an honest manner.. props
Hahaha exactly my thought this is a 1st year intro to business 3rd week assignment .
Brian idk maybe a college assignment
C-? That's REALLY generous. I can't believe Rob even humored this guy by spending time to talk about it and break it down.
right? hahaha. i highly doubt this is an adult.
I’m a business banker for a large bank and Kevin is most likely not a kid, I receive inquiries like this for loans once in a while. Only the three F’s invest into someone’s new business: Family, Friends or Fools.
Tell those ‘fools’ who invested into Microsoft when it was new how bad of a job they did ( •_•)
@Anton Zuykov venture capitalist sure, but they get presented with very well thought out idea's before hand an exotic car rental service is extremely risky and not nearly as profitable as some new tech upstart etc or other typical biz
b00st3d E92 , Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon were all companies that got started with blood sweat and tears before receiving investments. Kevin hasn’t burned enough calories to even start his business. He has ZERO skin in the game and wants Rob to have $1M invested.
Yeah but yet again not every successful business is passed loan after all. Your banker want easy money with small time frame of grace period. SO three F is fine.
@@X3.X3 Dear Kevin. Take a guess how many invested in companies like Microsoft that failed. About 95% of them. Thinking you are going to magically guess which company is going to make is big, is as insane as planning to me Michael Jordan. All you have to do is dribble and shoot right? It's easy.

This is not really a constant video, more laughing at an idiot that doesn’t know he is an idiot.
This was a sharp and objective scrutiny. I appreciate that you gave 'Kevin' credit where its due, and not shredding him for the rookie assumptions he laid out. No mention was even made for either taxes, licensing, or depreciation.
Kevin possibly pulled a big brain move and sent him a purposely light outline so that Rob would fill in the blanks for him. People can’t help but correct what’s wrong and fix things for you. I’ve used that method here and there my entire career with solid success.

Today Mr. Spaghetti critiques some undercooked meatballs
I’m from Minneapolis there was an exotic rental company that just closed. They mainly did car storage and other services, the rentals was something they added down the line. They had a Bentley GT, McLaren 650s, 458, and Lamborghini Huracan. Decent selection and I think they would have a car out 1-2 times a week. Always gone for the weekends but they had to end it since they couldn’t insure them anymore. That’s an extra cost that’s hard too control.
Ruben auto vault?
Rob always said this kind of business is hard. You have to enjoyed doing it and have deep pocket just in case. Insurance cost go down if you can make insurance company thing. they bet on the safe side. otherwise just not doing it.
Josh Hines yes
Minneapolis would be an absurd market to try it in to me. You'd have the cars sitting around idle at least 4 months of the year (can't drive a Huracan in 4 feet of snow) while still paying the notes on the cars, and there simply isn't enough big spending visitors to make it work.
I personally really enjoyed this. I feel this entire thing was just common sense if you know anything about business management or even just the simple thought that there are costs associated as well as down time for repairs (and often at that).

To Kevin's credit, if he is indeed a 14 year old kid, he is actually taking the time to come up with an imaginary business plan and putting it to paper, which even most adults don't do. I've been in heavy equipment rental for a little over a year. I have no idea how much it transfers over to exotic cars, but today most of our fleet sat on the lot. Looks like it will for another week. On top of that, a good chunk of money that does come in goes right back out via insurance, maintenance, unpaid bills, unpaid damages, and upgrading the fleet. Even on our most popular items, 50% utilization is really pushing it. The only time high utilizations really comes in is with long term (> 1 month) rentals, which are not especially common.
That's excellent feedback Bill. I was guessing Kevin could expect maybe 35%-40% utilization if he had clean inventory and a smooth running business. I suspect that Rob has 40%-50%, but he must also spend a lot on advertising. It would be interesting to be a fly on his spreadsheets! Thanks for your comment Bill.
I don't know a lot about the exotic car business, but assumably between rentals there's some sort of inspection. Someone qualified on all of those cars won't work cheap. Insurance on any of those cars is also likely really high. You know that when someone rents an exotic car they're going to beat on it pretty hard, so stuff is going to wear out faster. Plus taxes, that's already probably close to half of the income, and that's not including a spot to store all of these cars, front end employees, marketing, and all the other nickels and dimes. Rob's got pretty good marketing, but I'd bet he doesn't hit 50% utilization year round. Probably somewhere near that during the summer, but not during the winter. Last thing I want to do in the snow is go rent an exotic car.
What a shameful attempt of a business plan......
I hope Kevin is just some random 12 year old proud of learning multiplication.
Jax Turner I was thinking the same thing but of him being proud of learning how to make a spreadsheet 😂😂
I know the feelin. Number one question I get all the time is "What do you do to afford these cars". Followed by "Can you help me start a business to buy one of these cars."
Most people put business plans together with emotions and 2 dimensional thinking. I could go on and on.
You did give Kevin some good advice.
This probably had something to do with like a highschool class assignment, come up with a simple business plan to not fail the class.
More business talk please. As a former small business owner I find this stuff super interesting and you articulate it very well.
Today Mr. Spaghetti doesn't want to share his ingredients.
Good I thought people stoped the Mr. Spagetti jokes
Every bullet you fired at Kevin's proposal hit its mark. I have a new found respect for you. Thanks for the insight!
What about servicing costs, down time, taxes and the thousand other things that come up with any business.
Insurance for both the building and the cars
No mention of the costs of maintaining these fleets. Service trips for well used 1 day a week exotic car can run into the $10,000 7 day cars are gonna be through the roof. Evo Magazine once had a section on a secret super car owner who put 60k+ miles on his Lamborghini Murcielago in 3 years back in 06 ish. The bills were staggering, windshield $8k, trim pieces at $1k a time, engine in and out work at the cost god knows what. Fortunately this chap had access to magazine to keep Audi honest. I doubt this rental firm will have the same.
Hey RF. Interesting vid. As a student of business, I have learned that all businesses have the same dynamics and characteristics (for the most part) involved from start up through seeing it to fruition.
I'm amazed how many people have wet dreams that they think they can become successful with.
Most people don't even know or understand the difference between marketing and advertising.

Gotta give Kevin a bit of props. He's taken steps that most people don't even get to. Even a half assed plan and reaching out to potential investors is a lot farther than most people get.
I think the best advice you gave is for Kevin to get a job at a car rental company, doesn't even have to be an exotic car rental company. Learn a lot more about the business and find out if it's still something he wants to pursue.
And yes, I'd love more business related videos.

Don't open up a spaghetti place in a neighborhood without a spaghetti place because the market hasn't demanded one. Find a neighborhood with a thriving spaghetti place and then compete against them. The market has already shown that it will support one spaghetti place, it will probably support two, and all you have to do is be better than that other place.
Some people have no idea the costs of being a business owner. Associates cost, Risk, benefits, cost of maintenance, cost of miscellaneous costs - car washes, tires, oil changes, damages services provided = merchant services, marketing, website cost, building cost, state and federal taxes. Amazing vid. Hopefully this helps out this young entrepreneur understand that being a business owner is more complex than one thinks.
Also, doesn't Ed Bolian have or had an exotic car rental business in or around Atlanta?
He did, but he couldn't make it work anymore and if he couldn't do it then I don't think anyone can.
When I worked at the Ford Assembly Plant in Oakville, Ontario there was an exotic rental business basically across the street and even though they were basically in the middle of nowhere (no houses for miles) they still got good business from the plant employees (mainly retirees and management). Also made for some great drives home at 3-4am with my GT-CS, a 420hp WRX, a Gallardo, and a big turbo S14 all going down the empty highway.
Don’t forget cost of lawsuits .......................………
Needs a 10% attorney partner on retainer. There goes half of Kevin's share.
As a small business owner, this was entertaining purely for laughs. First year business revenue of $500k would be ambitious and planning a $2-300k loss and this guy thinks he's going to make $4M profit? Awesome.

Regardless of Kevin's age and inexperience, I give him credit for having an idea, putting together a business outline and thinking outside the box about how to come up with a partner/financing.
Some of the stuff in the business outline were laughable, but to be fair, Kevin put in enough work to get his outline critiqued in a video by Rob. Hopefully he watches this and learns and starts somewhere more his level.

Houston from royalty exotics said in a forbes in a interview that they make 500k a month except they have over 50 vehicles
But that is revenue not gross profit...i am sure the owner lives a comfortable life and is doing very well, but he is not making 500k in profit a month just for himself. The 50 cars themselves probably cost 25-40% of that total just in finance payments and insurance, not including maintenance. Then you have to keep your inventory up to date, so it's not an easy path. A pretty cool career with being around exotic cars but I can imagine the stress and some of the asshole clientele you might have to deal with...
@@nicholash4018 He means the company does 500k a month in revenue, not that Houston takes home 500k profit a month. They don't have finance payments btw, Houston puts most of what is left after cost's back in to the company so he can buy the cars in full. At least that's what he always says in there yt vids.
...gross...

No way to have 100% utilization with those prices in an over saturated market
And Kevin is to overly optimistic , what happens when the next recession come and the cost of living rises and consumers can't afford to rent supercars like they use to and servicing the maintenance on these vehicles will be more expensive , did Kevin care for this possibility when he drew up this subpar business plan.

Kevin. Keep at it . Keep building planning pushing learning. We all have to start on the ground and go up from there
This is good stuff, a reality check if you will!
Rob, absolute truth. A business plan to gain funding is the most essential proposal one must create in order to gain funding from a 3rd party. I had to create one a while back in order to do storm clean up, it was literally 5 pages long, included a full breakdown of expenses, including labor and materials required, as well as consumables (in this case it was chainsaw oil, blades, and fuel). So to see you holding a two page plan for this type of business, I knew right away that it would be seriously lacking in content.
Please, take the time to do more business related videos, as people need to know how business actually work, what is truly required to start a business, and how to keep a business profitable.
You should fix your website Rob. Under McLaren MP4-12c details it says 570s it only knows how to go fast lol obviously two totally different cars.

I wonder if one was to open a rental company with lower priced cars ( zo6, viper, hellcat, ZL1, etc.) If it would work better in places like dallas or other bigger cities if they arent ideal places to open exotic rental businesses. More or less like a higher class enterprise but not to the extent of a full out exotic rental... I feel like its possible and even profitable.
Thanks Kevin now we get to get buisness lessons from Rob

Everything you listed here is so very true. Maintaining your fleet is one of the more costly expenses when you have a smaller company. I operate a roadside service you can make great money. but when your trucks fuel pump dies on a day where you are over 150% capacity your best day went to a below average day. Because that truck just went out of service till its repaired, I do my own repairs to save money on labor depending on what it is but that day in fixing that truck is a day I'm off the road. Costing more business 101 NUMBERS, NUMBERS EVERYWHERE
Lol life isn’t easy
But I don’t beg for money I work with what I got.
Can I work with what you got too? If you have enough to spare, I'll take a million dollars. Should be enough to start my pet grooming spa I always wanted.

My name is Kevin too 😂😂😂. The title tripped me out 😂😂
Lol I live in buffalo, not many rich here I’ll tell you that.
Same lol hamburg over here
I mean compared to actual major cities in the country there's not many but still a surprising amount. I ran a painting business in Buffalo for a few years and there's a good amount of "old money" in Lakeview and some select neighborhoods of OP. But those people already have multiple exotic cars, buffalo lacks rich people traveling there even more than living there.
Bruh let me tell you Erie Pennsylvania is a primary market 🤣 primary market of rust buckets
Even if they are rich, they didn't get rich by renting exotic cars
I remember in my last year of college I had to present a business plan as part of my end of bachelors, and the business plan was 75 pages long (and that still was full of assumptions and needed more work), for an invented company that I was not really going to start, but it just shows how much homework and research you have to do before starting a valid business. I find it silly that someone would send a business plan like his for a legitimate business offer and not even include variable expenses plan for growth over at least a 3 year period, I mean, eh.
If you have 20K for a deposit chances are you can afford to own a Lambo! That's like going to Budget and slapping down a 5K deposit on a Ford Mustang Fleet Car Special.
Emergency Today doubtful
Ryan McGauley exactly, websites say no more than 25%. In reality that number should be much lower preferably 10% or less. I think the biggest issue people forget about is the purchase price is not the entire cost of ownership. If something big breaks on the lambo you could be talking 20k just to get it back on the road maybe much more.
Adamboy totally agree. Buying one and maintaining an exotic car are two different things. I could slap 20k down on a lambs but no chance in hell I could afford one unless I lived in it.
