These are Green whistles we use them in Australia, idk what other countries have them. So what they do is they dab a dose of a pentrox on the end which you inhale through the whistle with deep breaths, i had one when i was 15 and had been playing tackle footy on the School oval & broken both me bones in my right arm, i remember one of the ambulance guys giving it to me but before he asked me he said "What's the pain scale from a 1-10?" I replied "Probably a 7 i think" and he proceeded to give me the whistle and told me to have slow but deep breath in and out, not long after i started laughing and finding things funny that weren't even funny, i got in the ambulance and he asked me again "Whats the pain scale now?" I said "Definitely like a 2" 😂
Literally takes the edge off and gives a good high, i kept sucking on it and having more and he took it off me 😂

Like I came off 2 weeks of high dose morphine, fentanyl, Oromov because it just wasn't working, 2 days later I dropped a log that was like anchor rope... Hilarious part was I'd been on a massive high protein diet the entire time and the thing was about a foot long.😂😂😂
Weirdly, the best painkiller I've ever been given is bog standard gas and air! I've had wound cleanings that I should've been asleep for but because gas and air works so well for me they kept me awake and did them on ward. I don't recommend watching unless you've got a strong stomach; I didn't before, I do now. 😂

For anyone in the US that is confused, this is an inhaled anesthetic called Penthrox (It is illegal in the US). With a few inhales it relieves pain. We still don't know exactly how and why it works.

@Rabit901 methoxyflurane is an anesthetic and muscle relaxer. It's clearly a psychoactive drug. Its a GABA A modulator similar to alcohol, it likely has other mechanisms of action like as a reuptake inhibitor or some effect on nmda. I have not personally tried it. It apparently feels similar to nitrous oxide, although I assume with less dissociative effects.

I would imagine it would. I shattered a knee cap age 19. Took 4 months for them to figure out what was wrong. 2 months after that surgery. I was in pain for almost a year and it took 6months to heal and learn how to walk again

I’ve dislocated my shoulder 8 times, 6 times before I was 16 years old. Never got any pain medication until after the doctor put my should back in place, and even then it was just extra strength Tylenol. It’s really not that bad
