Spray the PB-blaster in the line then just reconnect it. Let it set for 45 minutes then try starting it again.

Try filling up the fuel line manually after swapping that fuel filter around if the directional arrow is in the wrong spot to. Then try to restarting it again afterwards. I recommend spraying some PB-blaster into that old mechanical fuel pump to set the do the fill it up with fuel after that part. It'll start up.

Not a 292 by location of fuel pump and right motor mount.

I am afraid your just washing down the cylinders, Remove the carb and fuel pump and check them. Your getting spark somewhat just no fuel. Address the fuel feed pump and carb my friend Nice truck

Good job exrracting it from its resting place. You showed us the difference between a firm tug and a yank. The engine is a later six than the 49 Chev came with. Odds are it's a 250, just because they were used longer than the 194, 215 (used in Pontiacs) and 230, which looked much the same. I like electric pumps - I run them in line with the mechanical ones. They'll fill the fuel bowl without having to crank the engine, so I feel like I'm "halfway there" to starting. Your fuel pump looks like the older, screwed together type, which means it's rebuildable. (Just in case you can find a rebuild kit.) What about feeding the fuel right to the carb, by attaching your fuel line where the filter is right near it? Gravity feed, like an old Ford with a cowl tank!

that was my guess was the chevy 250 they told the last owner it was a 292 not sure there is any way to be sure without finding casting numbers. it is my intent to buy a mechanical fuel pump Monday.

@@travis9438 The side covers on a 292 are close to 6"" high, and the ones on the smaller engines are 4" or so. Another distinction easy to spot is the water pump, which on the 292 has a short molded bypass hose on the left side, which the 250 pump doesn't have. So if that's a broken off bypass hose I see at 19:09 in the video, and the side covers are way higher than 4", it is the 292. All these 7 main bearing Chevy sixes have excellent reputations, but the 292 is the top dog among them.

Check the direction below of the fuel inputs in the fuel filter to. Cause if it's in backwards it will not allow fuel to flow through it at all. Until it has been flipped around also to allow proper fuel flow input.

The side covers on the 250 are roughly 4" high. On the 292, they're nearly 6" high. The 250 water pump has only the lower rad hose and one heater hose connected to it. The 292 also has a bypass hose, on the left side top. There are excellent pictures in the Rock Auto catalog. I looked them up for a 69 C20, which could be had with either of these sixes, or V8s. The engine mount on the RHS is located differently, too, but either of the distinctions above will tell you at a glance what you have.

Yes you half to remove the line going into the filter from the gas tank temporarily to do that part of it to. Then hook the fuel line back up again.
