Rich, I know this is an old video but I am having problems with my 3s ARRMA Typhon hitting 50mph with a 20t pinion.. They only thing that has been done was I put in a HR 57T spur gear and put in a 20t pinion and some GPM Racing C-hubs! My top speed is only like 37 so something is rubbing or catching... Also installed all new bearings. What are your thoughts?

That’s pretty dam good for a 3s machine. I still love my 6s Typhon but that’s impressive from its little brother. And BTW, great to see you and Noah back for Speed Weeks!

I put the 20 tooth in had to remove the spoiler and put a wheelie bar

This is what I love about Arrma. Low-speed basher for a newbie? Tiny pinion. Tire stretching speed demon? Flipping huge pinion. All while being damn near bulletproof
Yeah, but arrma includes optional pinions (now they do, i think. Mine is a first gen senton). Most other companies give you bare minimum while arrma gives the other pinion. I found a 37t i wanna try to squeeze into mine

As a big fan of your camel hahaha autospell... channel, I'd love to see if changing your connectors to xt150 would give you less resistance and more power/speed.
Don't be lazy, and switch to your preferred connectors. I'm not a scientist, but there's got to be resistance in the convertors.

I've already proven this theory before. When I speed tested my Thunder Tiger Bushmaster for the first time, I was still using Deans and ran a top speed of 103kph. I switched to XT150 connectors and no other changes, and ran a 109kph.
I have no doubt I can squeeze a bit more speed out of this car, but I have other plans in mind for a high speed rig.

You're welcome. Maybe in the next RC SPEED WEEK I'll sneak in the Typhon 3S one more time to see if it'll hit 60mph. I already have a few cars lined up for the next series, so hopefully it won't be too long before another speed week. 😉

A work colleague did just that and couldn't keep the front wheels down. Crazy power!
Hey vas I just brought one and use on grass and road can use 18 tooth with out motor and esc getting to hot

I Had to ADD the 3s Typhon to my #ARRMAFLEET Vas! I installed the 20t pinion in my #Typhon as well! I UPGRADED my Servo to a Savox and ran it with a set of #DbootsHoons and got her up 59.5MPH which not to bad on a 3s Lipo! I wonder what this #3s #Typhon can do with the 24t pinion? Anyways, many t hanks for the video brother!!
I've done the same with a 20t, 4000kv Maverick motor and Duratrax Bandito tyres on 3s... 70mph!!!

i have arrma typhon 3s too .. standard he is not very fast so i tried to upgrade using 20T pinion .. as a result my rear tire was torn when it jumped and my 3s battery lipo exploded due to overheating while i was just playing for a few minutes .. now i reassemble the original pinion

Hi I'm running 20t pinion for daily bashing and speed run I'm using vant 7200mah 100c 3s lipo. Is it a sweet spot not to burn my esc and motor or should I go down to 17T pinion? 15T is not ideal, it's screaming like hell

Hey vas was your gear mesh really tight stock? It feels super tight on mine. Almost like its restricting it. Or like a drag brake is on. I have the 20t and adjustable motor mount in the mail as we speak! 👌👊
My mesh was fine, but you're not the first person I've heard with this issue...

As soon as I put the 20 tooth in it was a different car. One of my favorite buggies!!! Arrma is solid!!! If your in NJ check out GS Hobbies on rt 34 in Old Bridge. The owner is beyond knowledgeable and has the most Arrma in the area!!!
Hey boss nice video just recently installed a 20t on my 3s and wow does it rip but I did notice u say it's a bit sluggish from the start ? I feel the same very slow response as far as being less touchy? Just wanted to see if had the sale result also there is like a louder wind ? Is that also a result of the 20t pinion ?

Out the box I got 39.5 MPH on 3s, stock pinion on foams. The temp outside was 29 degrees Fahrenheit . Time to upgrade to 20T

Yeah, very possible. These motors are known for blowing bearings. Take the motor out and wiggle the shaft. If it wobbles, then the bearing is likely gone.

Did the 20t pinion overheat on 3s? Mine goes to thermal shutdown after about 10 min.
Really? Seems alot of guys are running the 3s with no issues. Got a temp gun? I'm getting mine in mail tomorrow so I'll let you know how mine does with the 20t.
Not on 20t but ive got the arrma 26t 0.8 mod the motor does get alot hotter quicker but man it sounds ace and should do over 50mph now. Mine is a senton 3s blx so no doubt be quicker in the typhon. Just watch your temps and arrma dont reccomend the 26t for offroad use.

If you have neck muscles you can turn your own head, just a tip.
