@@dcamp12 obviously OEM is only as good as parts available for it. Plus fact that this repair is much more reliable and won’t affect his system seeing as he has no heat strips nor multiple stage compressor, so no need to variable speed motor.

@@jphvac5725 Ok, but I don't like it when extra components and wiring are done to a system and no one bothers to update wiring diagrams. Boooooo, then the next tech comes to work on system and he is like what kind of a hack job is this? How many videos on you tube have the tech scratching his head about what the hell is going on after someone changed the operation. I understand that is a simple system but on commercial or industrial it can get a lot more involved. Best practice is to stay with the OEM equipment for service and possibly warranty. Thank you.

Before they potted the ECM electronics you could get to the inrush surge limiter and replace it. That is what failed most often in these motors. But now that they are potted you are SOL. Another big problem with many HVAC ECM based systems is that they typically generate RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) which the HVAC industry is pretty clueless about. Some HVAC manufacturers have RFI suppression kits but most HVAC installers have no idea what RFI is or how to remediate it. Going back to a non ECM motor (traditional single speed motor) is a great solution for elimination of RFI if other methods don't work (filtering, etc.).

@@Clamjammer do you know the difference between a psc and a constant torque motor? If that customer has crappy ductwork or other airflow related issues that x-13 will do the job better; that’s a fact. Plus that’s not what the customer paid for when he had it installed. That motor would be covered under a 10 year warranty.

Steve, you do much plumbing lately? So many A/C calls. And it hasn't been too hot in southern New England lately

If they want to run heat, will the yellow low wire on the contactor have to be switched to the white low volt wire?

Steve, you put that capcacitor on top of the schematic!. if it blows up schematic is gone 🤦‍♂️

No need for a schematic on that simple system lol 😂

You did the guy a huge favor, converting from that junky motor. My only concern is if the control PCB can handle driving a 24v contactor directly. Looks like it did, just fine.

That unit is a basic as it gets. Doesn’t have a control board and transformer is big enough to run multiple heating relays/sequencers when heat strips installed yet this guy has no electric heat on this unit. So it easily will power a relay or contactor.
