I want to echo everyone on here…. THIS CHANNEL IS GOLD. I just ordered my kit and am watching the build a few times before I try it on my own. SUPER EXCITED TO TRY!
Joshua Bardwell hey buddy. This was my first build in 2020 and it was analog also I wanted to say thank you for all you do for us in this awesome hobby,by the way, this hobby keeps me sober and sane thanks again Joshua ✌️✌️👏👏
Same here....I fly 3d aerobatics with rc airplanes and now jumping into freestyle fpv...my buddy let me try his the other day and it just clicked I was flying in acro after about 20 seconds
"A little bit of trouble" installing the arms is a huge understatement. It took me about 40 tries and 30 minutes as well as 9 popped press nuts to screw down the last wedge for the arms. I was in constant fear of destroying the frame and even stripped the beginning of the press nut thread. The only thing that finally made it work was to not install it like shown in the video, but to install the wedge with ONE arm (don't tighten the screw yet) and then slide in the last arm, then tighten the screw. This was waaaay easier and without the danger of destroying anything.
Dude I have gotten so much information from you for free I feel like I owe it to you to buy one of your frames and build this. Big thanks to you for info you give us. You da man.
It’s pretty fair to get into. You need to research on what type of flying you want to do. Long range , freestyle , racing, cinematic, cruise. Some of these styles are definitely cross compatible but can be better with different setups. Just watch people build and talk about parts. There’s not too many involved, and some work better with other , so it’s not just buy the most expensive. Anyone good with electronics would excel in building these. The hard part is having to program and tune the drone before you can actually fly :/
Dude you are so right about the fact that eventually we will build. I was sure I would never build one when I started. I got this a few months ago and I absolutely love it. Thank you so much
18:00 min "Check your ESC soldering job" I built the first kit. Fried the ESC by one strand of wire between two pads! Only found it after taking a pic with my phone and zooming in on the ESC. Now I do that after soldering job. Thanks for all your help!
Thank you Joshua Bardwell for helping us create another great beginner DIY kit for the FPV community! We are very excited and can't wait to get all of you flying!!
honestly the hardest part of this whole thing was getting the xt60 soldered up, but this tutorial was top notch. you got my first kwad in the air thank you so much!
You almost had me convinced to start ordering parts to build a freestyle FPV quad because I tried very hard not to crash. My TANQ2 5” that have only had for about a week and a half and I really wanted a tank S but it’s out of stock so I considered building one, but I really don’t know if my big fat uncoordinated fingers can do the soldering but I am going to watch your soldering tutorial and try to find something to practice on because I know that I’m going to start breaking it when I start flying low. At the moment, I am just practicing tricks probably 20 to 100 feet off the ground and over mostly grass. Once I get better with my throttle control and pitch so that I can maintain altitude and I start rolling and flipping and yawing at lower altitude I know I will start smashing stuff. Your videos are amazing thank you so much. Keep up the good work!
I remember spending days doing repairs, literally, after every flight because I never landed, always crashed. I've gone on to build my own quads an wouldn't have it any other way. I actually land much more often than crash, now. Flying has become less stressful, more enjoyable. Thank you, Mr Bardwell, for all you contribute. I, for one, wouldn't enjoy the hobby if it hadn't been for the information and expertise you continue to share. Couldn't help but watch the build, makes me itch to build another.
I have been trying to get into FPV for the longest time but I just did not know where to start. I was going to go with a pre built but I really did not feel like that was the right thing. When this kit came out I knew this was the perfect way to get into FPV. I would like to thank you so so so much for making this kit!
Getting the right pre-built is absolutely not a bad thing! My first entrance was building one of those chinese kits from ebay, zmr250 or whatever it was back then. I wish I had just gotten a nice prebuilt and saved myself some trouble in the beginning. Check out the DarwinFPV Baby Ape Pro, or pretty much any EMAX BNF, I havent had a bad Emax product, ever! The nanohawk x is a little hot rod, the tinyhawk II is indestructible!

your V1 of this kit is what got me started and i have to thank you so so much for making this kit. It served very well and I STILL use the stack 1year and 8 months later. 10/10 will recommend this kit to beginner who dont mind building!
When soldering XT60 or anyother connector made of plastic, it is a good pratice to have the male and female ends connected together, so that if the plastic is heated up too much it doesn't warp.
I never built the JB kit...being on a super budget 1 year ago when i first got into FPV, I challenged myself to put together a kit that would come in under the price of the kit, and if that didnt work out, I'd make a beeline for the kit. Well, I came in at around $30 under, and pulled the trigger on my parts selection (The JB kit was likely better quality, but nonetheless, i was still challenging myself and wanted to put those few dollars elsewhere). Hooray! Now that it is fathers day, I finally got to put it together! Went together with basically no issues. I know you include the wire for the VTX connection, you might consider including the same for the receiver. I had some silicone wire around so no biggie. I have to ask. Is there a reason why you fish the capacitor all through to the front rather than just soldering it directly to the ESC and go out the back over the VTX? Anyhoo.. I had about 30 minutes before dark, and it took it out into the back yard. Of course I had the props on backwards in terms of rotation. There must be a nice way to remember which is which. Another one 🤣 with your channel about 2 years or more ago, I was able to successfully build an iflight F7 twing bt, 45 or 50A 4in1. Can't remember the frame but was iflight. Thing was bad ass! Thanks to you! Actually thinking about breaking it back out and now with modeling and printing skills. Do myself a lil remix 🤫🤫
I've built two of these frames and some things I would do is: (1) label the hardware. You can pretty much tell which screws to use where but having the packs labeled would be cool. (2) After crashing one and totally breaking one arm and putting a hairline crack in another, I replaced them with the design that has the Y configuration at the end. I think they should be the default arms. Maybe toss in some long M2 screw with locking nylon insert nuts if the builder is going to mount a Vista unit? I also noticed on one frame the press nut turns in the frame. Other than that, it's a solid frame. I bought a bunch of extra arms because I'm sure I'll beat it to death.

Tip with zipties. If you dont want it to Wrap completely around and look like crap, You can do that pull through method, and then clip the eyelets off 4 extra zipties, and put them down onto the zipties you pulled through, almost like nuts on bolts. If you follow my description..
I hope those 5 tutorial videos are all I'm going to need. I guess I'm not surprised it didn't come with a physical instruction book or a simple disc that I could pop in my computer. The DJI/FPV didn't come with one either. I had to search or a PDF on it.
Started watching this and will have to finish vid once at work hehe. I'm sooooo happy your offering this in a analog version!! This may be my first 6s quad. I really like what I was seeing. 🤜
You also recommend a soldering kit in the past, when you do a new build would nice if you added that link, I know us newbies can be a pain in the ass..😀 thanks, as a Patreon I really enjoy your videos, even though many are over my head, but in time. @@proxemiafpv5746 Then back in stock! It's expensive for what you get. Do your favorites spots to fly have room for a 5" ? None of my favs do. Plus, if I were to fly there, KAREN's would complain like mad! I suggest picking your favorite spots to fly and buying a quad to fit those favorite spots! My favorite size is 3.5". I think they're more fun to fly than 5", and soooooo much quieter .. no one ever complains or gives me as little as a dirty look. Hey Joshua, 3 years ago I bought your Rotor Riot CL1 kit. Then I got seriously ill, had great doctors, and I'm back, and ready to build. Question: the CL1 was an analog kit, but could I follow the DJI portion of this 2022 build and go DJI on that CL1 kit? Sorry for the newbie question.
Came across your videos and WOW great job explaining everything. You go over it all in detail and take the time to explain it. It doesn't all have to be a secret and you make me want to build one of my own. Many thanks.
Hi Joshua i see a little solder ball on one of the esc IC (18:34) this is dangerous if its rollin down to the pcb and make a shaortage better to make it away...

I bult the V1 kit and this kit is great... I'm still jammin' with mine and I've built a few more since then... this kit is nice... I went with HD version... there is no easier way to get into building quadcopter's...
Awesome build Josh, another good tip on soldering, at least the way I've learned is, find yourself an old radio or electronic device and practice soldering on that so you won't ruin your part's like I have done. Thanks Josh for all you do my friend...
New to fpv. I've been watching your videos for a few months, flying a cetus pro, and I'm ready to do my first build. Only problem... all the new sets of goggles coming out. I do not want to invest into goggles that will be outdated soon. I'm hoping you make a HDzero kit for the new goggles in the future. Love your videos!
Hello, I just have a question… Which googles would I buy and with this which controllers ? 😅 Anyway, thank you so much for this content I’m gonna buy this kit and fly fpv drone for the first time 😊
the kit you put together is obviously a solid one, its always out of stock. i need a frame that will house the O3 unit, too bad no one shows that in their spec
It's out of stock because we can't make it as fast as people buy it. However I just looked and it's literally in stock right now. GetFPV are working on modifying the frame for the O3 and will announce when it's supported.
Hello Joshua, I am 12 years old and using my Dad's account: I recently completed a maiden flight on the xilo which I started building on christmas day and it flew well. This is my first 5" and I like it. I have a dsmx radio and I have been flying rc planes for about 7 years. Question regarding VTX setup: I downloaded the VTX table via Betaflight and yet with my dsmx radio, DX 8, I don't see a VTX onscreen menu if I push the throttle to mid-position and yaw left and pitch forward. Any idea why this is? Thanks! Alden
AMAZING VIDEO!!! I am almost at the end of the build. I stopped at the receiver and have a question. I am currently flying a DJI FPV drone and using DJI CONTROLLER 2. Do I need to buy a separate receiver for my HD version? In the video there is a receiver mount but do I have to do that in the HD version too? Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Have you ever soldered a capacitor directly to the xt60 connector coming from the esc? I seen a guy build it that way. Turned out good. Just wanted to know if that was actually a good idea or not? Thanks for all your information.
Thanks for this!! I ordered the HD today. I cant think of a better way of learning something. I live in the same area as Getfpv, I should of asked to pick it up in person.
Ordering this soon as my mom asked what I want for Christmas, I will be going through getfpv and plan to buy your v2 diy kit my first quad but not for drones dji drones I have flown a few years, analog is my choice. Is getfpv the correct site to use to make sure you get your pay for your product being sold? Making sure I buy from the correct store. What goggles will be best, remote? I have no knowledge about this stuff so I need vtx, or remote antenna?
Appreciate the tutorial, I've always wanted and fpv set up and I think I've finally decided to make the jump. It might be a few months, I want to try and learn as much as I can before I start purchasing hardware, but this video was nice to see what would be involved in the physical assembly. I'm more concerned about the software part of it. This little kit is high on my list thus far, thanks for the content Josh

Excellent build, Joshua! Thanks!!! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I must mention you should be using a small fan, as you breathe in a ton of leaded solder fumes @21:39
the smart way to install your racing drone nice...
thanks JB. I just built my first Quad...this is perfect timing. Can't wait for the next segment which is confusing me a bit.
Started watching this and will have to finish vid once at work hehe. I'm sooooo happy your offering this in a analog version!! This may be my first 6s quad. I really like what I was seeing. 🤜
Very very clear tutorial thank you brother ❤
dang it Mr. Bardwell looks like im going to have to mow a lot of lawns this summer because I got to have this
You also recommend a soldering kit in the past, when you do a new build would nice if you added that link, I know us newbies can be a pain in the ass..😀 thanks, as a Patreon I really enjoy your videos, even though many are over my head, but in time. You are right ( “ you will learn something today”.) its a true statement….
There's a link to my soldering tutorial in the video description. Also, the product page on GetFPV has a link to some supplies. And you can always check www.fpvknowitall.com my web site for my product recommendations.
I haven't been very well today, Joshua... So it's a perfect day for a long building video. Thanks!
Feel better, Bro!
Hope things get better for you, MC.
@@KOrnhOliO1 Thanks, my friend! 😊
@@d3c0deFPV Thanks, my friend! 😊
It's nothing serious... Just my guts giving me trouble... It happens sometimes. 😕
But I'm probably going to be ok tomorrow. 😊
thanks for your beginer low badget quad brushless info
I good way to mount the capacitor is as close as possible to the Circuit, Anyway nice build thank you for sharing. 👍🏻
Probably should have waited at least a few more days but I already ordered it due to anxiety about how long it'll stay in stock. =) I am excited!
Good luck with it this was my first build in 2019 and analog 😂🤮
But, do you have a good place to fly such a noisy quad? - Without bring out all of the KAREN's to complain and give you anxiety and problems? Please read my post. I suggest you know your flying spots BEFORE you decide on what quad to purchase. 🤔👍
I’m fighting the impulse buy now. I don’t need it. But it looks like a great kit! It will be out of stock soon enough!
I think they're more fun to fly than 5", and soooooo much quieter
.. no one ever complains or gives me as little as a dirty look. Plus, my favorite 3.5" will do over 20 minute flights for long range with a bigger lipo or 18650 pack. Best of ALL worlds! 😎🤘
I have more than enough 5inches. I’ve only had one last ever yell at me. She is mentally unhinged so I don’t let it bother me. 3.5’s and 4’s are good. I enjoy them. But I love my 5 inch. The 7 flies nice too. I suggest trying it. Very different from a 3.5,4, or 5 inch frame
You should probably use purple loctite its made for 2mm-6mm
Very nice build video JB.
Thank you for explaining everything. Very useful
I wish I seen this sooner. Just bought the avata
nice to have the option for a 20 or 30
One of the only guys that can keep my attention for an hour and make me rewind and rewatch certain parts lol my bday is next month and I think I'm grabbing this quad for sure🤗 Been wanting to build my first quad for awhile and just haven't had the chance to but I'm pulling the trigger on this one! 🤌🏽✌🏽
Wow very thorough, you explain things so well, think I might make one of these builds!! 😬
omg i've been lookin for shit like this for 3 days mannn
Got this bad boy kit under my tree right now! Its been hard to not dig into it and remain married.
Hi Joshua Brardwell,am so greatful for all the videos, they are so profitable in a way that they provide all the needed information for pipo who do fpv,and i surely belive that these videos are the only videos fpv racers need, they made mi fall in love with fpv, though i cant afford one,but i wish i could get one so i can start fpv too🥺
I bult the V1 kit and this kit is great...
Excellent video. Thank you. Can you post the link for the practice circuit board. Thanks.
Hello, I just have a question…
Which googles would I buy and with this which controllers ? 😅
Anyway, thank you so much for this content I’m gonna buy this kit and fly fpv drone for the first time 😊
the kit you put together is obviously a solid one, its always out of stock. i need a frame that will house the O3 unit, too bad no one shows that in their spec
It's out of stock because we can't make it as fast as people buy it. However I just looked and it's literally in stock right now.
GetFPV are working on modifying the frame for the O3 and will announce when it's supported.
Nice build
Loved your first kit, really got me into and confident in FPV and building. And your accompanying build video is gold. Keep it up!!
Looks great! The v1 kit got me started and was great....this is also why my JB QAV-S frame has been on backorder forever haha.
Awesome video. Can you do a tutorial on going from analog video to digital video?
Very cool. Wish you had done this 2 months before... I wouldn't have bought the Sector 5D...
Looking forward to building one. Need to practice my soldering though, my hands shake so this might be a bit of a nightmare lol.
Amazing! I am getting the kit! Will it work with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2? Thanks!
