Omg!!!! This is my hometown! Thank you for the beautiful coverage of my hometown. Very nice!!! Every weekend, the brewery is open for tours & picnicking on the brewery grounds! You'll all enjoy it!!! Make sure you check out the barbeque spot on the corner across from Snowflake Donuts. Have fun & enjoy ❤
@@dk-ln6om I mean, it was cool but, the downfall is there's no opportunity in the field I work in so, I had to come to San Antonio. If I would have stayed in Shiner, after graduation, I'd probably still be doing the same crap. San Antonio has given me many employment opportunities. I'm very thankful I am from a place that is relaxing but, to live, there's too much not available that I would have to drive out of town for.
I am a 78 year old Texan from Central Texas. My dad took me to Shiner when I was 15. I loved Shiner and it was also less expensive than Lone Star. I sipped Shiner in Smithville for 10 cents a mug. The bock was only available at certain times of the year. If you have a change go by the brewery. They are very nice, hospitable folks. Good post thank you I am a new subscriber.
I live outside of La Grange Texas which is just down the road from Shiner! I told my wife if we ever decided to move we ought to move to Shiner! It's a beautiful town in the middle of a beautiful area of Texas.
I’ve done a video with La Grange in it as well. I really liked La Grange. Beautiful courthouse there, and the downtown is awesome with a lot of character.
I spent the nineties in Victoria Texas. Went to many Bachtoberfests in Shiner. Spent many weekends fishing in Palacios, Port Lavaca and Port Arthur, as well as all the other small cities in the area. I enjoyed your Texas coast visit. thanks!
I lived in Victoria from 1976 to 1988. Worked for an oilfield service company. Loved all the local communities. Halletsville, Yoakum, Cuero etc. and yes Shiner. Some of the Best BBQ in the State, wonderful people and beautiful countryside. Good memories. Thanks for the visit!
I remember saving the empty bottles in their cardbord case. We would trek to Shiner with the return bottles and buy more beer! $4 a case with the empty returns. We were in San Marcos.
Used to visit a place in the late 90s that sold Shiner Bock on tap. The owner made sure it was the perfect temperature and just always seemed so fresh. Would go on Fridays after work and always looked forward to a perfect, delicious Shiner Bock and the most amazing chicken tenders I’ve ever had anywhere. I’ve been a fan of Shiner Bock ever since. Also, Saltgrass Steakhouse serves a very nice Shiner Beer batter bread. Goes great with their garlic butter topped steaks. 😋
I may have said it before BUT this was theeeee best! I love the town of Shiner & it had me thinking 'oh this is go'n be a good one' lol when you entered the town with all the flags! God Bless America. We should be able to grade the 'thumbs up' with 5star thumbs up grading. Thank you Joe & Nic.
A wonderful video, a really nice town ! I love the Opera House and the church is beautiful, and it was really nice to see inside. The little memorial outside the church is lovely, too ! Lots of gorgeous homes, and a cute cat ! Thanks so much, Joe and Nic, always enjoyable !😊❤
Great video. I grew up in Hallettsville, about 15 miles from Shiner. Shiner beer was always served at weddings and I’m sure still is. Also attended mass at the church you highlighted, and yes it is beautiful!
What a really nice place. I was beginning to despair, there has been some pretty grim towns and statistics along the way. I love the way you show the old theatres, my favourite was in Abilene and if memory serves me there was a great gig on, was it Lyle Lovett. I love the channel and your presentation.
It's so weird that you are visiting Shiner. I was looking at Shiner's beer offerings yesterday. They have quite a line up, beyond the bock. Your description of its flavor I s very accurate. It is not a heavy beer. They produce their original 1909 recipe, and some flavored beers (lime and sea salt, etc.). I always thought that they were up near Dallas. I was shocked to find that it is closer to Houston. This is way cool. Cyril and Methodius were Greek Orthodox monks (and brothers) who went on a mission to Bulgaria in the Middle Ages and developed the Slavic writing system, which is called Cyrillic.
Great video as always. I don't know if anyone else have noticed or commented on your new camera, but when you move it the picture gets blurry. Maybe it's my TV that is to blame? Now I must check if Shiner beer is available here in Sweden. Probably not though.
Not only Shiner Beer is produced in this town, but due to the firm will to NOT alter the original method and ingredients for brewing their beer, many consumers appreciate that fact and have patronized both pilsener and dark products.
In one word, Guinness! Founded in 1759, Dublin, Ireland. Visited the factory two years ago. This DARK beer is definitely the most famous dark beer in the world. And, it's sooooooo good even compared to our USA brewed version of Guinness. I mean, it is fantastic and the tour was great as well. All said, video is cool. Great job.
Love your videos. Has anyone else noticed a weird distortion affect whenever there is movement like panning or when Joe's driving? It started when he switched cameras. I've watched both on my phone and tv to make sure it wasn't one or the other that was the problem, but it's visible on both.
Good video. This is what America is all about. Sadly it’s not about protests and burning things down or tearing down statues. This little town is a great escape. Clean friendly great beer and BBQ!! 210 year Texas family.
Lordy y’all making me homesick. LoL that’s a beautiful little town. Never been but have wanted to. So thanks for taking me. LoL 😂 that brisket and sausage looked great. I’m hoping that the slight blurriness can easily be fixed with a setting on the camera. It’s definitely something that started happening when they went to a different camera. I’m a little surprised it wasn’t noticed during the editing. But if I know Joe, he will take care of it or figure it out. Their videos are always amazing and well shot. Unfortunately the slight amount of blurring when the camera is panning really kind of distracts from the overall quality.
What a cool town! I love the Shiner beer story! The church built in 1920 is gorgeous ! Lovely windows and ceiling. Nice brewery tour! Love the goat T. The food looked amazing! Great video!
There are a lot of "painted churches" in Texas. People who came to Texas in the 1800's had few resources locally to adorn the churches they built. So they "painted" the interiors to replicate the ornamentation of their European churches. Painted churches exist all around South, Central and East Texas. Look them up in Texas history.
I see that Shiner Bar is closed again , oh man , most fun I have ever had in my life was in Shiner Bar , now that was a real saloon . Even after truly abusing the ZZ Top CD in the juke box , it got removed , even after many nights of showing out in top form . Well when I moved onto my sailboat in Virginia I wasn’t able to find Shiner Boch in the stores there so I had to buy Yuelging brewed it Pottstown PA the oldest brewery in America which brews a lighter shade of beer and actually has taste I don’t drink beer with no taste I’d rather drink water. Now days it seems every town has a local brewery Athens, Tyler, just to name a few. So getting brewers yeast is relatively easy. I don’t brew beer I mix sour mash and distill Apple Pie corn alcohol and other flavors.
Shiner is my usual favorite, I also like a lot of other amber beers like Fat tire or Alaskan from the Northwest. But, my go to and safest pick will always be Shiner Bock.

I'm not a beer drinker, so I wonder what makes a beer the greatest? There seems to be a zillion different kinds and brands. Okay....you had me at "brisket'. That looks so yummy, and I'm with your Joe, I gotta have some spice in those sauces. And, as always....thanks for honoring 'the cat'
Looks like a great place to visit. I see you found " Morris's " Great, great , great, etc. Grandson. lol Those old houses were fantastic, everything was so well kept. How much was that BBQ platter you 2 had ? That brisket looked really good. Now I want brisket, but its only breakfast time ! :~)
I remember Sam Adams Triple Bock. I'm going to have to find some of that Shiner stuff, even tho I don't drink that much any more, not any less, but not any more.
Shiner Bock is pretty good beer but I never saw it in the stores until the 80’s. Back in the late 70’s, Shiner beer was actually cheaper than Lone Star and I paid $3.88 per case + tax + deposit. I heard about Shiner Bock from a friend who visited Austin and told me that all of the college students were drinking the Bock variety.
That looked like a fun place to visit, Joe. The food looked delicious, but you had a big ass fly 🪰that kept landing on your food 😩. I felt for sure you’d see it. :)
7:58 Wow, beautiful church. You rarely see beautiful churches in America so it's nice to see.

I'm not a beer drinker, so I wonder what makes a beer the greatest? There seems to be a zillion different kinds and brands. Okay....you had me at "brisket'. That looks so yummy, and I'm with your Joe, I gotta have some spice in those sauces. And, as always....thanks for honoring 'the cat'
you should go find Dripping Springs and go to the Family Business beer place . ive heard its good ;)
Looks like a great place to visit.
Oh how we have devalued spending power.
Shiner has one of the best paid police department in Texas compared to other departments and down size in Texas.
My wife and I love watching your videos!
Lately they are blurry at times.
That looked like a fun place to visit, Joe.
The food looked delicious, but you had a big ass fly 🪰that kept landing on your food 😩. I felt for sure you’d see it. :)
In South Africa I never heard of Shiner 🍺 or maybe I don't drink but I am always happy when you visit small towns and their history
🤡
I never heard of that beer till now. Live in the southeast..When I use to drink never saw it at any bar & grill
