- This video is a thorough tutorial on how to replace the pickup tube o-ring (oil pump seal) without having to completely drop the subframe. This will also work for 05-08 Grand Prix GXP, 06-07 Monte Carlo SS, and 08-09 Lacrosse Super. The links below are for the recommended oil pan gasket thats improved for DOD / AFM motors and for the o-ring

Awesome video. no cursing. way better than the other guy's video.
Awesome video. Thank you for doing this!! Have an 08 GXP that has now developed a small leak and I’ve been dreading it. I’m fairly mechanically inclined however having a video like this makes it 100x easier. Big thumbs up 👍🏼
I have an 2008 GXP with 92,000 miles. I checked the oil pressure with a scan tool. It was 45 psi at warm idle.
Very straight forward and very informative! Thanks man! Now i know what to look for if i get low oil pressure should it happen!
Helped me a lot... thanks!
Thanks for answering my question
Good shit man, I appreciate you
Helped me a lot cuh,
Thanks gonna help me out
You the man
So what did you do about the piece of timing chain tensioner
You hit it on the head bro
Im having a pressure problem after changing the oil pump and pan gasket
I replaced the pump and o ring do you think it's the dumbbell in the back
Just did mine. No more light at stops lol
Have to get oil pan seal done on 06 gxp..any ideas on shop prices
It’s basically identical to this vehicle to you’ll have to drop the subframe and pull the pan, clean the area and replace the gasket and reinstall
How many hrs it take and thanks
I’d say 2-3 hours if you’re mechanically inclined and good with tools
You have an idea what this job would cost taking it to a shop?
Just got a quote for $2591
What happens if I don’t make this repair and I ignore the low oil pressure at idle
Motor will lock
18 inch pounds??
Anyone have trouble with the bolts by the transmission
Yeah that bolt is a pain. I had to try out multiple swivels, extensions and 10mm sockets to get it out
