  • Welcome! Today is a pippin' day at The Lucky Penny Shop. I have had this popcorn maker for 4 or 5 months and finally got it on video. I do believe this was mad in the 50's and I have seen 2 other versions which are similar but not exactly the same. One is just the popcorn popper on a metal base and the other like this, but a different popper. I think that one is a newer version. I will say this worked great, but it does get very hot! Be careful. The popcorn was crispy and not chewy like I thought it would be with the steam building up under the glass. What do you think about what I was saying about the kernels. Back in the 50's they were not genetically modified and did not pop as big as these kernels. They also did not mention butter or salt! Your thoughts? Let me know, I'm always curious as to what you al lthink.
Step into the past with us in this captivating TH-cam video as we uncover the secrets of the 1950's Empire See 'Em Pop Electric Corn Popper and Vendor Stand! Join our journey as we demonstrate the proper usage of this iconic popcorn popper and vendor stand, which was a beloved fixture at various events in the 1950s. Immerse yourself in the nostalgia as we showcase the unique features and functionality of this vintage machine. From the mesmerizing popping process to the delightful aroma of freshly popped corn, this video will transport you back to a bygone era. #PopcornPopperTutorial #VintageVendorStand #1950sNostalgia

You know, it could even been from the late 1940's... that is when peanut oil came into "popular" home use. It was used as a substitute for vegetable oil during World War II. So, since peanut oil is in the instructions.... just made me think. However, I do not think the Jolly Time bags are that old.... those do not look to have the same age. I think that one, lone, white bag is like the ones that came with the set originally.

Yep. It probably did overlap. I even searched Google patents to try and find the original patent. No luck.

I was born in 1969 and I honestly got tears in my eyes 🥹hearing and seeing the first pop. It reminded me that the joy in most things from my childhood came from the excitement of waiting.
We used to put salt in the oil so it spread evenly over the popcorn and had our little skillet for the butter. We usually burnt the first batch.🙄Actually we used margarine butter was considered a luxury back than. 🤑
I was surprised how well it worked and amazed how big the kernels were. 🤩I could taste how much better popcorn tasted cooked on the stove compared to the microwave. 😋Thanks for the wonderfull memories. Gosh I miss being a youngster of the 60's and even better a Hippy Child running wild in the 70's .✌️👄💞

IT's cool it's one of the traditional styles of popcorn cooking, I'd have assumed it would be one of those hairdryer type cookers as it's for kids!
