After watching episode 3 it became my favorite anime from the season and imo best anime this season by far and if it goes on like this I'm saying it can be a contender for AOTY.
amazing how they managed to crash a 4 episode series in episode 2 not just the animation, I was on board with mixing the short stories in episode 1 cause I felt that was well done overall but in episode 2? they just ruined every single one of them

The first episode of Negative Positive Angler really stood out to me. I was expecting nothing but the start is pretty decent and seems like it can become a nice coming of age. Also, it’s an anime original which is always cool to watch I think.
I really wish people would stop introducing Yukinobu Tatsu as "Fujimoto's Assistant" For one, Tatsu is older than Fujimoto, and was already working as a mangaka before working as one of Fujimoto's assistants. Second, Fujimoto has said that his assistants and their conversations and interests were big influences on him as a young up and comer. The thing about Fujimoto's assistants during Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man pt1 is that they were all talented artists that just hadn't had a break out hit yet. If anything, Shonen Jump Editor Shihei Lin deserves credit for recognizing talent and fostering it, because that was how we got Chainsaw Man, DanDaDan, Spy x Family, and Hell's Paradise.
This is the most stacked season ever since 2022 Fall where we had Mob Psycho III, Chainsaw Man, Bleach Comeback, Blue Lock, Spy x Family, MHA Season 6, Bocchi the Rock and Eminence in shadow. No season in between was remotely close to that. Re zero is finally back after 3 & a half damn years, Bleach, Blue Lock, Blue Box, Danmachi, Dandadan, Shangri-La Frontier, Uzumaki (as much of a fail as it is) and hell, even SAO Alt GGO is back after 6 years. I can't glaze this season enough, bro. On a side note though, Blue Lock getting a mediocre adaptation makes no sense while it was the best selling manga of 2023 somehow beating out the absolute JJK brainrot takeover.
I've heard there's this adaptation of a series by Madhouse that's pretty good but I haven't seen it yet. I'd love more Re:zero reactions tho. For me I also goat DB Daima comin tomorrow so I'm really excited bout that
I think this art style makes way more sense for Dandadan then would have for chainsaw man. The Dandadan Manga has lots of super exaggerated body shapes and faces. Like they do that thing where in humorous moments the characters are drawn 'silly' and the Anime captures that. Human characters in Chiansaw man are always drawn with realistic proportions most of the time the expressions on characters in Chainsaw man are pretty subtle (especially in part 2). It's true Fujimoto has a 'sketchy' style and got cleaned up in the Anime, and like for sure it would have looked cool if they'd been able to maintain that but realistically that would have been really difficult to animate.
The thing about Uzumaki is that: I love the art style, the animation, the settings, but there are things I don't like (the same things I see in many other horror movies etc.) like the characters (especially the way they behave), the dialogues and the story.I understand that Junji Ito's main thing is body horror, but even that doesn't surprise me anymore after watching stuff like When They Cry, Blood C etc. I'm still watching it hoping to find something I might like more.

Fujimoto always draws the characters with realistic proportions and faces, and a lot of the facial expressions are actually pretty subtle. This show/story is way more 'light-hearted' then Chainsaw man.

I think the choice for chainsaw man to feel super cinematic may be why ppl feel this way. It looks like its kinda washed of color. I dont think it looks bad per se, but Dan Da Dan is insane visually.
It's more that the vibe of the animation in Dandadan is pretty similar to the official colored pages for chainsaw man, while the actual chainsaw man adaptation went for a cinematic look instead. Personally I see both sides of the argument, but I do wish that CSM went for the colorful approach instead of the cinematic approach

Dandadan is a modern day acton comedy with high school teenagers for main characters and the weirdness in it is a "Hahaha that's the funny kind of wierd". On the other hand, Chainsaw man is an edgy action dark humor anime set in the 90th with a 16 years old homeless kid who doesn't know how to read, write or act like a human being and have been working for the Yakuza since he was a kid. Oh and he also sold his body parts on the black market to pay his dead father debt. And the weirdness in Chainsaw Man is "Oh my God that's the disturbing kind of weirdness" where you don't know to laugh or ask someone if this is allowed on TV. I'm not gonna even mention all the differences like the difference between the Devils and their effect on the world of Chainsaw Man and The supernatural and aliens of DanDaDan. Or the depth of characters of Chainsaw Man in comparison to DanDaDans. I didn't say all that to sh** on DanDaDan because I already rewatched it 5 times. So I'm a fan of everything it's doing. But just to point out how absurd wanting the same art style for Chainsaw Man. It would've given the wrong vibes completely.

Another big thing is that they're literally matching the Manga's art style, which is super-stylized in a lot of the comedy scenes. Chainsaw man always uses realistic proportions on the (human) characters and realistic faces and Fujimoto's great with drawing *subtle* expressions on character's faces. The anime is even more subtle with facial expressions but you also get the benefit of motion to convey emotions which it does well. The only real difference is the lack of 'sketchiness' in the Animated version, but that would obviously be difficult to animate.

If you were a novel reader, I'd say react to it, but since this is your first time with the story, I'd recommend just watching it on your own, what with re zero being a show that's better when you have your full attention on it. .........but gosh dang it I want you to react to episode 2 so bad tho
