Thanks for bringing me back home! I'm from 92nd and Cottage Grove, and went to Corliss off 103rd and Cottage Grove!! This brought back good memories!! Thank you!
Just passed the Zion church at the 7:46 mark is the Historic building on Charles S. Jackson funeral Home at 7346 S Cottage Grove Ave. I visited and photographed this building last year when I randomly passed it while visiting Chicago. It was one of the coolest old building I have ever seen. It is very large in size and has a lot of history. It was ran by the first black funeral director of Chicago and honestly deserves some historic recognition. I would love to see more photos and videos of this building and it's history. Thank you for the upload and I enjoyed the drive.
I grew up in the Bronzeville/North Kenwood area. 23:10 is where I used to catch the bus (#4 Cottage Grove) to High School(Dunbar Career Academy) and to work(Jewel Osco) I miss this neighborhood!
Thought I saw A Leak funeral parlor sorta recognized 71 St & cottage Grove also saw the Grand Ballroom , not much is recognizeable sense I’ve been goon . On Marquette Rd is unrecognizable the newspaper stand gone by your morning paper and catch the bus, one word describes the trip down Cottage Grove “Sad”.
