I actually liked chris when i first saw him and i still do like that kid to be honest he is kinda relatable i mean his only real friends were an anthropomorphic blue speedy hedgehog and his gang of friends and with them came along their nemesis whos name is named partially after an egg so yeah him not wanting sonic and the others to leave well besides eggman but sonic could easily kick his ass any day is understandable

@@espurrseyes42 4Kids didn't pair Tails up with Cosmo, that was a thing in the original. In fact they butchered that just as much as they did with Sonic and Amy. I remember them cutting out scenes related to them having a relationship including some fantasy scenes the Chaotix had of them being a couple, and they changed various dialogue removing anything romantic like Cosmo telling Tails she loved him.

Did the TMS uploads of the episodes restore some of the scenes 4Kids cut? Most of the scene of Ami looking up at Super Sonic was in their upload for it, just missing the blue line strike part of it at the start of the scene and the portion where she talks while running towards Sonic after leaving the house, even the aerial shot was kept.
God, the text removal annoys me, but the emotional scene removals infuriate me. I’m a character person. Characters don’t have to be super deep for me to find interesting, but stuff like Chris’s childhood, Amy’s talk with Sam, and Shadow reminiscing his time with Maria would do wonders for their respective characters if they stayed. At least Shadow mourning over Maria is a pretty major plot point in SA2 and is a well-known motivator for him. It humanizes him a bit

And Michael Yurchak killed Jet! Jason is my favorite Sonic (second would be Ryan Drummond). As for Eggman....ehh, I prefer Deem Bristow way more

The ultimate muscle dub is odd. I remember watching a scene where kid muscle moons his opponent but 4kids drew underwear on him for the us fox tv airing but if you watch a uk tv rip of it online the scene in that dub is uncensored.
maybe it's because Eggman is only one guy and plus the limitation of humans being in Mobius isn't a big deal since.. he's just a regular guy but Mobius needs the gang and the chaos emeralds so their prolonged disappearance, including the chaos emeralds being in the human world is causing the space-time merge
I love your channel!! I just think it's kinda weird how you literally mention every single minimal text removal but don't even mention script differences, which happens A LOT through the anime, especially in emotional scenes that are extremely tonned down.
As extremely unlikely as it would be, it would be kinda interesting to have a version of Sonic X that has the TMS international footage, any remaining Engrish cleaned up (like "The House of Cream's Mother" being changed to "Vanilla's Home"), redone English voice lines (though keep Funimation far away), completely getting rid of the heavy swearing in some instances while replacing it with more fitting light swear words in others (the heavy swear words used in the uncensored version of Sonic X are generally not considered heavy words over in Japan. Not to mention one of the few times the English version of Sonic games ever used heavy swearing was in Shadow the Hedgehog), and specifically for future streaming versions to make any necessary changes in regards to FCC legal stuff.

Excellent job! Please do TMS vs TMS in regards to the original footage and international footage. Nobody has fully covered it and there's too much misinformation going around about it. People on reddit saying that 4kids did no text edits at all and it was from tms is FALSE. And yeesh 4kids always likes to rearrange there flashbacks in a plethora of their dubs

@@Hensama I would look at the US Hulu sub and the french dub to make sure what tms edits are logged. The french dub edits the eggman x scene I think with a tv screen of purple void which tms wouldn't do I think.
well, the french version is based of the Japanese so I don't see much of a problem using Japanese music, they could at least use an instrumental arrangement.
@@calixtomesterhazy3729 It would be pretty dumb to put a piece of music by mistake, I think they just changed for the DVD release to maybe avoid possible copyright problems, since it's a physical copy, it's not like you can only see once like on TV broadcast, the recent Kids Station broadcast that aired Sonic X in Japan recently after the Sonic movie used the DVD version, probably because it was easier accessible. It would be interesting to know directly from the anime team the exact reason why they changed. What I know is that the Off Course music was also used in the French version, so it wasn't limited to only Japan, although I don't know if later releases of the French dub maintained that (like you said).

After having watched this whole thing, only one thing is standing out to me. I'm honestly surprised that there wasn't more adult material or adult innuendos. Only like, what, 4 in the whole series? I mean, this is japan, adult humor is their norm.
@Paul Bell well there are significant differences between what is acceptable in Japanese children shows and what is acceptable in American kids shows. But truth of the matter is is that none of the kids shows that we see here in America are actually children shows in japan. Most of the shows that we see are intended for children between the ages of 10 to 16, and sometimes they're intended for older audiences As a good example, the show Digimon is a children's show here in america, but in Japan it was something different. the original run of Digimon, while viewable to an audience as young as 12, had a lot of elements in its original Japanese run that would not be acceptable here. For example, in one episode of the original run the team stops over at a bathhouse, and in Japan it's not uncommon or an appropriate to be fully nude in a monogendered bathhouse, because you're bathing together in a community setting, it's normal. At one point in the scene, two of the characters comment that they find it unacceptable that one of their friends who is joining them in the bathhouse is shy about being nude then they jump out of the bath and Rush him both fully naked, in order to forcefully remove his towel. This would be considered comedic to a Japanese audience. In another example, in the 21 episode of Digimon 01 there is a heavily implied incest subplot between Tai, who is 11, his sister Kari, who is 8, and his digimon partner Koromon (the pre digivolution version of Agumon). This was self admitted to by the episode director. So let's say we want to watch episode 1 so we click the number 1, when the page loads the video wont play because you haven't picked a domain to play it from. so just bellow it are the links to various domains. Can't say they all work (from what i've tested it should be one of the first 3 links that do work) Don't right click then go to "Open link in new tab" you'll get a blocked page. all you need to do is click on the link, wait like 5-10 seconds (depending on your internet) and there you go. Again if you're still having problems, i can't help you any further. Sorry.
Ok so I watched Sonic X on Netflix a little while back, and not only do the episodes have their Japanese names, but Amy’s job in Ep 49 is shown, but only in a still image when you select the episodes! And yet no episodes past 52! (at least in my region’s version)
I'm excited for the coverage of The Metarex Arc. I just watched the Japanese version a few months ago, and already noticed a few changes between it and my childhood memories of the English version.
I always hate Chris the first time I saw him in Sonic X because of his behavior. If 4kids hadn't censored his backstory I might have sympathized with him and wouldn't hate him so much. But since they did censored, I still hate Chris despite already knowing his reasons. And his return for the Metarex saga did not convince me at all. I'd like that instead of putting Chris back, they had put Silver the Hedgehog in the Metarex saga. Coming 200 years from the future where everything is under the reign of Dark Oak, and wanting to prevent that from happening. so that he had a character development. It would be kinda a "Sonic Adventure 3" having Super Sonic, Super Shadow, and Super Silver in the final battle against Dark Oak. I know I'm exaggerating but it would have been a better introduction for Silver than he did in the Sonic games.

After having watched this whole thing, only one thing is standing out to me.
I'm honestly surprised that there wasn't more adult material or adult innuendos. Only like, what, 4 in the whole series? I mean, this is japan, adult humor is their norm.

@Paul Bell well there are significant differences between what is acceptable in Japanese children shows and what is acceptable in American kids shows. But truth of the matter is is that none of the kids shows that we see here in America are actually children shows in japan. Most of the shows that we see are intended for children between the ages of 10 to 16, and sometimes they're intended for older audiences
As a good example, the show Digimon is a children's show here in america, but in Japan it was something different. the original run of Digimon, while viewable to an audience as young as 12, had a lot of elements in its original Japanese run that would not be acceptable here. For example, in one episode of the original run the team stops over at a bathhouse, and in Japan it's not uncommon or an appropriate to be fully nude in a monogendered bathhouse, because you're bathing together in a community setting, it's normal. At one point in the scene, two of the characters comment that they find it unacceptable that one of their friends who is joining them in the bathhouse is shy about being nude then they jump out of the bath and Rush him both fully naked, in order to forcefully remove his towel. This would be considered comedic to a Japanese audience. In another example, in the 21 episode of Digimon 01 there is a heavily implied incest subplot between Tai, who is 11, his sister Kari, who is 8, and his digimon partner Koromon (the pre digivolution version of Agumon). Another good example of a show intended for younger audiences in America being intended for a young adult or teen audience in Japan would be sailor moon. A good example from that episode would be the fact that two of the sailor scouts are actively gay, a lesbian couple. When it was translated and moved over into america, they made them into cousins but they couldn't do anything about the scenes of them cuddling and holding each other, which made their relationship feel really awkward. that's also one of the reasons why I was surprised that the Sonic show doesn't have more innuendos and adult material in it because of the fact that most often shows that are imported from Japan into America are coming from a culture where the shows that they make for their young adult audiences have way more in them than we ever see.

Ah yes, the close up of "blank sign" to establish Amy's house definitely makes for an excellent establishing shot and causes no confusion.
The removal of text is kinda understandable in my part, as most probably they wanted to make the show easier to export to other countries.

So let's say we want to watch episode 1 so we click the number 1, when the page loads the video wont play because you haven't picked a domain to play it from. so just bellow it are the links to various domains. Can't say they all work (from what i've tested it should be one of the first 3 links that do work) Don't right click then go to "Open link in new tab" you'll get a blocked page. all you need to do is click on the link, wait like 5-10 seconds (depending on your internet) and there you go.

Ok so I watched Sonic X on Netflix a little while back, and not only do the episodes have their Japanese names, but Amy’s job in Ep 49 is shown, but only in a still image when you select the episodes!
And yet no episodes past 52! (at least in my region’s version)

Some scenes didn’t make sense like Abuleta attacking big. What is that animal abuse? They do realize what the plot of sonic is right?
I always hate Chris the first time I saw him in Sonic X because of his behavior. If 4kids hadn't censored his backstory I might have sympathized with him and wouldn't hate him so much. But since they did censored, I still hate Chris despite already knowing his reasons. And his return for the Metarex saga did not convince me at all.
I'd like that instead of putting Chris back, they had put Silver the Hedgehog in the Metarex saga. Coming 200 years from the future where everything is under the reign of Dark Oak, and wanting to prevent that from happening. so that he had a character development. It would be kinda a "Sonic Adventure 3" having Super Sonic, Super Shadow, and Super Silver in the final battle against Dark Oak.
I know I'm exaggerating but it would have been a better introduction for Silver than he did in the Sonic games.

I mean they could have doesn’t better adapting Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog in my opinion XD the whole thing on the Metorix’s origin could have been better. XD I’m not saying it’s bad but I’m not saying it’s good either.
