glad that you have enjoyed it! was a totally cold and windy day but did extremely good! :) i try to do better every time i go out! And given that it is C&R only right now, I hope people will pick up a few techniques this season while handling their fishes too!
To me, preseason C&R is one of the best things the state has done. Opening day is a zoo that I want no part of. If a few fish die during the couple of C&R days it’s nothing compared to all the meat collection that happens on the opener. If people want to keep legal fish that’s fine but let’s remember it’s supposed to be about fishing.
If we can have these preseason C&R going forward that would be awesome! The state just need to do a better job in education and enforcing the C&R dates. As long as ppl legally keep their fishes, i don't mind what they do as long as they don't litter and are respectful to nature and other anglers! you never know if a family actually need to haul meat!! I have been in situations where I would have been super stoked if i had a freeze full of meat.

Glad you also follow my philosophy on using a barbless lure when catch and release on our NJ trout. saddest catch of my year was last year fishing for bass with a swim jig with white grub trailer and set the hook straight through the top of the head on a beautiful holdover rainbow , was greatly relieved when it showed no serious effects and was released swimming strongly but it still made me take pause. i do my best to be a stuart of the sport but even the best intention angers will find an unintended issue now and then. that was a big jig hook but thankfully it was a sizeable trout. Any smaller and I think the outcome would have been bad.
Yes sir! If I had the money to swap everything I would! Lately I learned to do assist hooks. So trying that with some lures. Not bad so far!

Yeah its a shame and some were due to the wind plus trash day lol. Trash cans flew every where earlier in the week for my neighbor. But definitely some were done by litter bugs! Trash cans are in the park too!
Totally agree, really pisses me off. I always take a couple pieces of trash home every time I fish. If everyone did that the planet would eventually be trash free.
Yeah, I feel the same way about the preseason. I feel it kinda takes away what opening day was. And also like you said some will die.
I have stopped using rattle traps for that reason. I catch so many mouth destroyed fish in public ponds and lakes... also I don't bed fish anymore even if it's catch and release.

I like the Zephyr indeed. Probably the best quality budget bfs reel under 75 dollars. This reel is compact like the Spartacus. Brakes are fine. Throws down to 2.5 grams easily stock. Can do 2 grams if u put micros in
U are at where me and my family fish opening day every one fish’s that spot and everyone fish’s that spot by the bridge holds them all there they sit in a u shape only there worst part is u can’t get a spot

Sweet. First question is how light do you intend to throw and the type of lures. That will help me suggest a rod and reel that would be optimal.
@@rawrfishing thanks for responding. Been off for a minute. I still haven’t picked up a bfs set up. Ended up getting a 5’6” presso and a kastking zephyr sfs. I put some 4Lb izorline and running Rapala CD01. I want to keep my lures around 1/16.

Great video man, I wish we had an actual trout season down here. It just gets too hot. Is that shimmy minnow like a knock off of a lucky craft wander? The way you described the action and how it functions is exactly the same as a wander.

@@rawrfishing yes sir, I go to the smoky mountains once a year and catch trout there. Have crossed off a couple of species from that area. Also they stock trout where I live once a year, they don’t last long though. Yeah the bait is luckycraft wander. It’s been around a long time. Great bait, they even make a 45mm version weighs 2.6 grams. Shimmy’s on the fall, sways back and forth on a straight retrieve. And jerks really well. Def a worth while bait to try out. Caught tons of trout on them.

No problem man, unfortunately this reel actually shines in the L and ML power rod category, not at the SUL/UL area. Even with micro... 1.7 grams is still a challenge for many. Plus, the spool gap to the body is too wide... Any mistakes can get line trapped under the reel. If you are on a budget, get Dark wolf ultra or genius from Tsurinoya
@@rawrfishing Thanks maybe I will use the combo as a micro crankbait, spinner, or something along those lines. I was looking at the darkwolf, but the Genius is the upgraded wolf I think. I might spring a bit more and get the Haibo Arise, but rod choice is down to the glass rosewood (which I think you reviewed) or the Mavollas Delicacy for ultralight (trout magnet type) applications. Also thanks for all the feedback. I am throughout your comment area a lot.
If you are gonna go trout magnet.. I would suggest the Dragon C602UL. I can cast half a gram on that with the right setup. The rosewood rod, I have only used briefly. I think for throwing trout mags, u want a stiffer rod tip action to detect strikes.

Well... never used that clamber.. and gh100 is a poor performing reel. So Zephyr wins by default if it is by my experience. But knowing the reel specs... I know clamber can perform better on light lures. Can't say anything about quality tho
I just bought a zephyr fishing rod with plastic eyelets. How do you feel using it?

How do you stay cool while fishing during the summer?
