I wish this was the first razor I ever purchased. Few things are perfect in life, but this razor is one of them. Now, I get to purchase one for my son for his first shave.
Donald, thanks for the great review! I also participated in that kickstarter and am VERY happy with that Razor. The two young gentleman did very well! BTW I went home to the Kentucky Derby and your Tobacco Rose was the soap for the entire weekend. Keep the videos coming
Oh how I love the Tobacco Rose that make me happy you enjoyed it. The 6C will be one of my go to razors now it's performance is outstanding. I'm also part of the Model T release coming in July can't wait to see that one as well.
Wow. That was some. fast shaving. You have a remarkable and characteristic stubble which somehow shows the contrast in the pre and post shave face and hence the effectiveness of the shave!
I had my 6C (gunmetal , wow) since 2 days, shaved with it 2 times now (twice with the same Derby Premium blade) also using the R3 plate. And yes, very very smooth , efficient shave too. My best razor now! I also have and like: a 1959 Gillette Slim adjustable (i use it on setting 5), a King C Gillette, a QShave (=Ming Shi 2000) which i use on setting 2.5 and a Wilkinson Sword classic (the metal one TTO). The Rockwell 6C gives the best smoothest shaves for me, but i also like all others except the Wilkinson, which has one side more exposure than the other side, i can compensate for it by pushing in one direction while loading the blade but i prefer the other razors now. Price/quality the King C Gillette is the best i guess or the QShave but that one, u have to check the blade alignment too, because sometimes its a bit wrongly aligned. Works great though when properly aligned. Very nice jazz piano music Donald !! VERY nice!!!
*_Thanks for watching when it comes down to it the Rockwell 6C beat out all the clones which is no surprise a solid razor the only other Razor in that group I would use is the 1959 Gillette Slim adjustable for some reason no one can copy the original._*
Yes, when I saw I could get in for only $40.00 I jumped at the chance now the razor is selling for $100.00 I also got in on the Model T that will be released around July. It's also an adjustable but uses a selector right on the razor to dial in the nummer no plates like the 6C.
I think it's the 6S (from stainless steel) that sells for $100. The retail price of the 6C (from chromed zamak) was quoted at $50 on Kickstarter at the time, I think. we'll see what it's going to be, though. I have cancelled my pledge for the 6C at one point, because I thought the design might be prone to clogging and the final price (delivery fee, taxes, customs charges and Royal Mail fee) would be greater than what it would sell here in the UK for. Looks like I shouldn't have worried about it clogging. Nice shave there. :-)
I stand corrected I'll make the correction in the article that being said I love the razor and now I feel better that the price point is down to a level that most people can afford starting out.
I decided to go for the stainless steel version and I don't regret it. For us Europeans it means we have to pay 33% tax and customs to discourage buying from outside the Europe really awful but still like Rockwell I just hope one day we'll see a warehouse solution
Hey Donald, greetings from India, Thank you for unboxing and great review up there.. I wanted to know since it's been 2 years you got 6C. Have you faced any quality issues with this particular razor? I was thinking up to get one here but got anxious when read chipping of chrome from razor parts and plates. Is it worth the investment?
So far I have NOT experienced any issues that being said this does not mean it would not happen to you I purchased mine when they first came out I would think by now all issues with fit and finish have been resolved.
Glad you liked the video. For $50.00 it has to be the best buy for a razor since the German 37 Slant from Razor Rock. If you haven't seen that one take a look.
Between 2&3 definitely, tried each of them with one day growth and the 3 really gave me a close shave with just one pass and a second XTG to finish with an amazing shave. Tried the the 2 the next day and it was very smooth but needed more touch ups. Good thing was I felt I could keep going over with no irritation. Tried the 4 on 2 days growth today and it cut through it no problem but it wasn't as close on the first pass as the 3 on 1 day growth.
Chrome finish 3 piece razor problem is screw thread stripping. How long duration of the Rockwell 6C do you think compared to stainless steel 6S? And no problem with 6S?
*_That's a good question but since I don't have the 6S and can't really say but my guess would be this. Most people once they find the setting they like really don't change the head often so my guess is they both would last a good long time but again that just my guess_*
Donald Youngner Thank you for your fast answer! My first start de razor was 3 piece, almost same clone of Rockwell R1. But before 2 years using it, the screw thread stripping happened to me and it is useless now. So I asked this. I changed Vikings blade Chieptain clone razor(Dorco) and am satisfied with it. I am on the fence about purchasing Merkur 34C, Rockwell 6C or 6S. Which do you recommend among the 3 for my everyday or 2 day shaver?
Well that's a good question the only advantage is the Rockwell is adjustable with its plates the Merkur does not have this function so if you select the Merkur and it's too aggressive there is no way to readjust - I hope this helps
Tempted by the 6c, or by the 2c. So, my question is: do you find the 6 settings useful? The 2c comes with #1 and #3. That might be enough for me as a daily shaver, with tough white whiskers. Looks an amazingly well made razor. Thanks for all your answers as I look and relook at your videos today.
This is gonna sound funny.. but I view Donald Younger as the Brian Setzer of wet shaving. always rockin the one pass shave. Thanks for all the reviews!
Donald Youngner I see these other guys with the 3 passes, is that really necessary. Im new to this and never payed attention, I’ve been shaving 40 years with a cartridge, only one pass, never even thinking about other passes. Always seemed good enough.
For a very long while it was the only one I used and I never went off R3 but things change an now I happen to be stuck on the Single Edge Razor called Occam's Razor Nano it's my go-to now.. until something else comes along - lol thanks for watching see you next time
Hey Don, i joined to your channel now, congratulations for the video very, very exhaustive, Wednesday i received my Roclwell Gunmetal 6C, in the next daysi'll try it position 3 probably. Again congratulations and excuse me for my english. See you as soon, bye bye.
The Normal Speed shave was something I tried doing for this hardware review. If I left it like I always do then nobody would be able to hear what I was saying about the shave so I set it at normal speed. Glad you liked it.
Something different this time. I like it! We actually got to see you shave in real time!😉 I believe you when you say this is an excellent razor but for 100 bucks there are a lot of other adjustable razors out there without the (in my opinion) hassle with the backplates. If you got it for $40: well done my friend! Great deal! Thanks Don and see you next week!
Yes normal speed this time glad you liked it. I was debating on this until I watched the footage putting it together. I was talking about the performance of the razor but how would anyone know what I was saying so I opted for normal speed and it turned out ok.
Hi Don nice video and review, I’m thinking about getting into wet shaving with a DE razor and Rockwell has one for $15.00, is that a good place to start? Should I go to a more expensive razor? Thank you for your advice:)
Hello Loop? I never said you have to watch me that was your choice and as for the Barbasol keep using it if you like it no one is saying not to. Yes, I have used Barbasol before that's the reason why we showcase alternatives you must be very young and nieve in your thinking having experience is what come from age.

Great review!
The 6S is my daily razor, I've never had anything better and I've used over 50 razors over the last 10 years!
That's Great Nav I will be reviewing the new Rockwell adjustable Model T soon so stay tuned for that one as well.
I now use my 6C on setting 4, still smooth enough and gives me a bbs shave.
Wow
Excellent shave, No muss, no fuss! I am going to be ordering the Rockwell 6c soon. Thanks for the video!
No Problem really like the razor and thanks for watching
Pretty excited, I got the Rockwell 6c coming in on monday. Also do to some codes I managed to get it down to 40 bucks. Good video and review!
Now thats wet shave shopping done right!
How did you get codes? I'm thinking of getting this.
@@reedcarpenter2994 at the time I ordered they had a code on the page to take so much off. Not sure if it's still there now.
@@reedcarpenter2994 also this is a great razor! I have a few razors and this is the one I use the most!
Nice shave. I had the 2c but couldn't get a good shave with the 3 plate. Hopefully i could get better use of the the 6c with the 4,5,6 option.
Everyone has a number they use that works for them I hope you find yours 💈
Great video.Loved the great piano! Since I am a musician 👨🏼🎤. Loved it from beginning to end!!! ( VLS)
Thanks for watching and for your kind words. See you next week my friend.
I wish I could try this soap, but as I see it, that was a whole five years ago
unfortunatly Tobacco Rose had been stopped in production a few years back but this might come back in 2023 Thanks for watching
As u said excellent razor, I recently treeted myself to the 2c version in gunmetal and setting 3 works perfect for me.
That's great news they do make a wonderful DE razor for a fair price
Wow. That was some. fast shaving. You have a remarkable and characteristic stubble which somehow shows the contrast in the pre and post shave face and hence the effectiveness of the shave!
Thanks for watching Manish, I guess I was made for shaving videos - lol have a great weekend see you next week
Wish that this was the first DE razor I bought when getting back into DE shaving. It's awesome. I did buy a 6S eventually just because I wanted it!
*_All good choices well done!_*
You can buy the 2C model and get the 1/3 head and save $$'s. I have the Gunmetal model and it's beautiful for $27.50 shipped.

Hi Donald, Wich razor you recommend me if am new in the DE shave and I have sensitive skin between Rockwell 6 c and Merkur 34c?

Chris Seeker I just ordered the 2C today. From what I’ve seen on most of the reviews of this razor, most people prefer the 3 setting.
thank you a good review

I have the 6S it's my favorite razor out of anything I've tried. I gave a Futur away after getting it.
It's was a surprise to me how great the razor is and for $50.00 I think it would be find another razor as good in that price range
A great look at the 6C razor Don ~! Kit

FastEddie, that's the speed I go my skin is not tough but most of the time I only do one pass.
breaking down the passes, some do 2 or 3 but still uses as many sweeps with the razor as with 1 pass. Matter of taste how you do it.

I get so tired of watching old men lathering their face. Try barbasol you get the same results if not better
Barbasol in the can will never be as good as a soap or cream that lathers.
