    I just ordered the 6s and i look foward to it! It'll be my first DE saftey razor! Been going down the rabbit hole and research of this more elaborate and interesting shaving! Hope to use it for years to come and not pay so much for cartridges! I think i might have made a good choice! 😅😁👍🏻
    Great story and heartfelt message at the end there! We are quite fortunate and we take what may seem simple and normal to us for granted! There's so many people around the world that are less fortunate and deserve better, especially in this day and age! I try to do what i can and wish i could do more, but man, if i had more money available, i would absolutely try to help those in need more. Well said! Good deed, man! Nice overview. Great stuff! 🥲👍🏻

    Hi Mark- Great shave and razor review; thank you! The Rockwell 6S was a game-changing razor for me when I returned to wet shaving; it is wonderfully customizable during a shave and just a pleasure to use. I hope you have many wonderful years of enjoyment using it. Sincere thanks for your heart-felt sentiments at the end of the video; it was a wonderful, centering moment, and it was greatly appreciated, Mark! Best regards, as always!

      Mike, thank you for the kind words.:) I'm getting great shaves from this razor. Used the 2-4 plate with a Treet blade this morning and got a three-pass BBS. Although, I htink the Rockwell brand blades give more feedback. I can feel the edge of that blade a bit more than the coated blades. Whereas, in other razors, coated or non-coated, the blade has some feedback. I think this points to the build of the rzor head offering a smooth shave.:)

    Mark. A massive thanks to you. I have had irritated skin for as long as I can remember and I have tried EVERY shaving possibility and I do mean I have exhausted every single electric, cartridge you could think of but my skin still severely suffered! I purchased a Rockwell 6s a few back but used a 4 plate for 3 passes which left my skin in a mess. I used the same routine you used in this video and I have never had a better shave. Wonderful.

    Great shave Mark!!! Ah yes, the classic Rockwell 6s! Such a fantastic razor!! I have such a deep appreciation for this razor, as for years it was my go to razor before I started collecting razors. It's an absolute workhorse of a razor! I have found that plate 5 and 3 are my best friends, and just about any blade pairs well with it. I bought my nephew the black 6s for Christmas, since he just got started into the wet shave a few months ago and his only razors were a Gillette Tech and a Parker Variant. It's also very forgiving on a head shave too. Overall, fantastic pick up!

    This may be a dumb question to a pro like you. But does the blade on any razor lets say on the 2nd or 3rd shave. can the blade be flipped over or should it always be placed in the same direction?

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Johnny, this is not a dumb question at all. In fact, may wet shaves take advantage of the numbers found in the corners of blades in order to help them keep count of how many shaves they've had on each side. Does flipping the blade add to longevity? It really depends on who you talk to. Some wet shavers flip the blade, others do not. However, there's no right or wrong answer from what I've read and heard. It all comes down to what works for you. Myself personally, I don't flip the blade and I don;t go with more than three shaves or so with a blade (there are some exceptions). I generally like to use a new blade as often as possible. DE Blades are quit affordable.

    So much to say here... first, love your videos Mark and I always have - second, what a class act you are and what an inspiration - this video made me smile! However, there’s also the razor - I’m 2 years into DE shaving and I’m a bit of a collector so I would say I have most razors (not kidding, from Merkur to Muhle to Charcoal to RazoRock to Wolfman, Timeless, ATT, Edwin Jagger, Fatip, Rex etc...). I have begun to compare blades and razors and I came back to my 6S and 6C after months and months and I couldn’t believe it - the Rockwell is the most comfortable razor I have followed by the Muhle R89 and the Fat Boy but the punchline to anyone considering this razor, it’s simply phenomenal! Thanks Mark!

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tugboat, the Merkur 34C is a fine razor. However, you have to be right on the mark to get maximum efficiency than most other razors. So strict technique is needed, IMHO. With other razors, you can be off the 30 degree angle a little bit and still have good efficiency. With the 34C, you need to be right on the mark.
      I haven't used the Rockwell blades in a while. As I recall, they were very good and paired up well with the Rockwell razor. Smooth but with good blade feel like most stainless blades I use. With coated blades (platinum, chromium, Teflon, etc.) I get a softer, yet sharp, feel to the blade edge.

      I have the 6C and I've read the same thing and it makes a lot of sense. Some people spend a lot of money to have the 6S polished and Rhodium plated. I think that if they just polished it that would be great.

    Is this better than the Vikings Razors?

  • @BlueJay7850
    @BlueJay7850 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mark how work you compare the Rockwell 6C to a DE89. Where is the DE89 on the aggressive scale compared to the Rockwell? I'm looking to replace the Parker 92R, it's just too aggressive for my very sensitive skin.

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say that the #3 plate on the Rockwell is just ever so slightly milder than a DE89. And a bit of a different feel, to be sure. So, I guess I can chalk up that milder quality to the design of the razor head. My skin borders on the sensitive side. I prefer razors that are neutral down into the milder range. I can use both the DE89 and the Rockwell (with the #3 plate) for head shaves. And I prefer a milder razor for head shaves. The Rockwell, with its six plates, will really allow you to find the proper level of aggression for your shave.

      @@MarkSzorady Mark based on your suggestion I ordered the Rockwell 6C yesterday and received it today using your Amazon store front :) I had my first shave with this razor and used plate 2. What a difference. No nicks or cuts and very minimal razor burn using a Lord Platinum blade, 2nd shave on the blade. This razor has to be the best value in DE razors and the most comfortable. I can't thank you enough for your help. God bless, keep safe and stay healthy.

    would you recommend the Rockwell or the rex envoy?

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doug, the main differences between the razors are how they are made and their utility. The Envoy is fully stainless and CNC machined. It has some nice finishing touches (counter bores on the base plate for the handle, smooth polished finish, etc.) and is precisely made. The Rockwell, as I recall, is manufactured via a forge process of some sort.
      "The original 6S and its plates are made from brushed stainless steel that are forged in the USA."
      While the Envoy delivers a wonderful shave, the Rockwell 6S allows you to try different base plates and adjust the aggression of the shave. These extra plates let you find the proper level for your face and shave.

    Is it worth the extra money for the jet black edition?

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, ZeroColdx911. I can't say. I don't have the Jet Black edition, just the Stainless 6S. However, some wet shaves who own both the 6S and 6C (chrome plated version) say that the chrome plated version feels a bit smoother on the skin. Does the Jet Black offer the same sort of feeling as the 6C? Again, I can't say. I'd think it'd be best to contact Rockwell and ask them directly. My apologies for not having a first-hand experience with the Jet Black version.

      "Where are your blades and razors manufactured?
      We manufacture the Rockwell 2C, the 6C, and the blades in our dedicated facility in China, while the Rockwell 6S is made in the USA. And the Model T has parts made in China and the US and is assembled in Canada."

    I don’t think your skin is sensitive. If it were, you wouldn’t be face lathering, as that would be enough to produce “razor”burn. It seems your skin is, in fact, very tough. Which is a good thing, of course.
