I think Logan’s death scene is probably my favorite death scene in any movie ever. “So, this is what it feels like…” is just the perfect last words for Logan. And then Laura turning the cross to an X is just the cherry on the top.

Now question. Is asking that because "this is what death feels like," or what its like to be a father, or what dying with your "heart in your hand." Feeling love, or finally being free of the horror that was a good chunk of his life?
I like that his last line has a few different interpretations to it.

Fun fact: The way Yukio describes seeing Logan die in her vision in ‘The Wolverine’ also applies to the way that he is seen to die in this - ‘holding your own heart in your hand’ as he dies holding Laura’s hand after he has accepted and loves her as his daughter.

In the 2013 Wolverine movie, Yukio tells Logan how he'll die: I see you on your back, there’s blood everywhere. You’re holding your own heart in your hand. When Logan dies in this movie, he's covered in blood, laying on his back against the tree, and holding Laura's hand in his own (his heart). It was confirmed that was done on purpose.

This is honestly the better Old Man Logan story, by miles.
Laura Kinney, aka X-23, first appeared in the amazing X-Men: Evolution cartoon, and then became a comic mainstay and other Marvel games, even now earning the mantle of Wolverine herself, and I actually hope Dafne Keen gets to play her again, now that's she's older now, she actually closer to the characters age when first appeared as a teenager.
Even though this is such a downer of a ending to DOFP, but this is the ending the Fox series needed, and it's one of many reasons why Dark Phoenix is so hated by many.

    • @RiffRaff243
      @RiffRaff243 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

I re-watched "Logan" a few weeks back, and forgot just how good this movie is. I hope Dafne gets the chance to play Laura again as well.
Unpopular take, but with how the MCU takes creative liberties with characters, I'd be all for making her the main Wolverine in an X-Men or New Mutants reboot with Dafne reprising the role. Logan can still be around, but Laura would be cool if Disney decides to focus on a young adult team.

@Kryptoskillet that's not a good comparison at all. For one, DC is in fact wholely owned by WB, same way Marvel is owned by Disney. So, yes, all DC characters are actually owned by WB. For another, Space Jam and RPO just featured cameos from characters.

Fun fact about how they created the effect with Xavier’s “episodes”: They shook the crap out of the camera, then ran that footage a few times through some image stabilization software. Apparently the software was only intended to be effective with more subtle movement/shake, so that’s how they were able to achieve the specific look that they did.

I'm surprised you didn't show the part or bring up the fact they were drugging food and drinks in stores that everyone eats that specifically effects mutants. It's a huge plot in why things are the way they are. It targets the mutants specific powers and makes them deteriorate (hence why Logans powers cant heal him as much from the adamantium poisoning his body and the fact Professor Xavier's power is all within his mind which starts to deteriorate as well making him get those seizures that hurt everyone and killed the mutants)

I don’t think it was fully explained about what happened to the other x-men but Richard E Grant’s character says something about them putting something in food that affected mutants, maybe not kills them but stops their abilities from working fully and possibly being the reason that there have been no more mutants born in years - it’s clear that Logan’s abilities have been hampered and everyone like Caliban saying that he can smell that Logan is sick inside - his body is no longer constantly healing and it is instead rejecting the adamantium, so inside he’s effectively fighting an infection because his body is trying to fight off the adamantium as it would a virus.
Regarding the timeline, the only way I can see all the movies being possible is -
    First Class
    Origins: Wolverine
    X+men
    X2
    X3
    The Wolverine
    Days Of Future Past
    Apocalypse
    Dark Phoenix
    Logan
Continuity wise, this is the only way things could make sense, and suggests that a similar course of events took place similar to X-Men and X2 after Dark Phoenix where Logan joins the X+men, but where Jean doesn’t go full phoenix and kill Charles. Of course, it doesn’t explain exactly how Charles came back looking the same at the end of The Wolverine, but it wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility that his consciousness in the ‘blank’ body could subconsciously project a psychic self-image so that to everyone he ‘looks’ like Charles Xavier?

It's called Westchester Incident in which Professor X killed accidently (because of his brain degredation) 600 people included many X-Men members. Over all this end for both Logan and Professor is so much bitter because they are few last old mutants from old era and lived so long to expereince slow degradation of their bodies and minds. Great and most honorable Wolverine ending. Over the border is Canadian new agency with focus on new young mutants. This shold be start of new movie series New Mutants (as it is in comic books). Thanks for reaction.

This is the best Wolverine movie to me because of the emotional impact between Logan and Charles. There are to theories why Logan isn’t healing. One being the events of The Wolverine when his powers were drained. He may not have fully recovered. The other is the Adamantium has always been slowly poisoning him.
Personally I always thought is was the corn syrup in the food repressing the creation of new mutants. I thought this was poisoning existing mutants and suppressing Logan’s ability to heal.
In comics Laura is a clone to recreate the Weapon X project. The girl playing her is also in His Dark Materials on HBO. She’s awesome her age.

I think it's been confirmed that Charles is the one who kills all of the X-Men from a severe seizure. In the Old Man Logan comic, it's Logan who kills them. Mysterio makes all the X-Men in the school appear as villains. Logan, worried that something horrific happened to his friend's, goes off and kills them all. It's not until after he kills them all that he sees what he's done.

One thing I love is Yuriko's prophecy was fulfilled, Logan died "Covered in blood with his heart in his hand" his heart was his daughter. In the comics Logan does suffer from Adamantium poisoning and "dies" but basically he gets encased in liquid Adamantium and puts Logan into "Hibernation" during which time his body heals. Then Logan eventually escapes and is resurrected fully healed and almost younger in appearance.

If the Marvel really wants a Wolverine in their MCU quite quickly, I'd rather hope for bringing this Laura from the Multiverse, rather than giving us a brand new Logan
It feels too soon to get him again on-screen and Dafne Keen played the role extremely well... She deserves to get back as X-23.
She's 17 now, so a teenage X-23 would be amazing!

I disagree wholeheartedly. IF we were still in the fox universe I’d say hell yeah that makes the most sense and I’d love to see that. However, in the MCU, people will know wolverine, and jumping over Logan to just do Laura will just confuse people and it’s useless to make a movie about X-23 when wolverine hasn’t been established. It’s been 5 years, and although Hugh Jackman is wolverine, it’s time for the MCU to find their own footing.

The comic book movie can get played out, especially the origin story (basically the same over and over). But if you combine genres, you get get something magical.
    Logan is a western.
The Dark Knight is a crime drama.
The Winter Soldier is a cold-war thriller.

  • @dave0001100

It’s interesting that you say Hugh Jackman was born to play the role. He wasn’t originally cast when they made the first X-men movie. Dougray Scott was originally cast but turned down the role to star in the second mission impossible movie as the villain. Him dropping out made the film makers seek out a replacement. Hugh was ultimately cast and his career skyrocketed because of it

This movie takes place in the new timeline that follows from the end of days of futures past.
So after the changes in the past were made, the new timeline was made that created the young X-men movies and then up until the point Logan woke up in his future body. Somehow during that time, Jean came back to life either by her powers or something else. And within a couple years after the end of Days of Futures Past, Logan takes place where Professor X accidentally kills most of the people in the mansion when he loses control of his powers.

When she was first introduced in the animated series "X-Men Evolution" and then in the comics under the name X-23, Laura was presented as a "clone but with two X chromosomes instead of an XY pair." and she was the 23rd attempt at cloning Wolverine, aka Weapon X, hence the X-23 codename. In more recent years though, it was revealed the the scientist in charge of the project hadn't been able to do what her superiors wanted so instead of cloning Wolverine, she implanted some one of her eggs with his DNA, so she's really Logan's daughter (and that scientist's too). Also she doesn't want to be called X-23, it was her name as an assassin, as a weapon, she's calling herself Wolverine now, just like her father. And if anyone has a problem with that, they can just go talk to her or Logan, and they'll put things straight!
