This time we have come away from the VW scene and landed on the Vauxhall scene.
I can honestly say this is an awesome little camper and a huge example of how you dont have to have a big van to enjoy yourself and life. Make do with what you have I say.

This has convinced me to get a Combo! Good to know you guys are both tall (I am as well) and can lie out comfortably - that's a deal breaker for me. A Transit or a Sprinter is overkill for my needs at the moment, but the Combo is pretty affordable and incredibly you can still fit everything you need. Mine also needs to be useable as an actual van so my camper conversion isn't going to be this high spec (Scott's done an amazing job with it), but definitely lots that can be learnt from it. Thanks for the detailed video - really useful.

What car does the reversing camera plastic surround come from?
I see this being built in stages on combo groups on Facebook. I cant say how many combos iv had but if you class the old shape combo b with combo c iv had over 50 I use my van for working iv got a crome bull bar on at min but my others have had bars and lights all over. Some good ideas on that van

Great video, Jay, and great build by Scott. I have a lhd Opel Combo Tour (5 seats and glass all round) with the 1.7DTi Isuzu engine. Takes me to Malaga and back without missing a beat - great engines. If I wouldn't miss the rear bench + lugging room, I'd want to do this. Maybe I need to get a van version...
How Scott managed to find the extra bumper guards and side skirts (from the Tramp/Arizona special edition, I think) I don't know. Hen's wisdom teeth.
Hey Dizzy. Thanks for the comment. Ow I didn’t no they was rare bumpers to be fair. He did mention they was though. Looking to film this van again soon as he has completely changed the lay out
@@JaysFabShop Well, that's a way to make me click subscribe. His actual bumpers are std (I prefer the body colour Corsa C facelift front bumper on mine rather than grey Combo job) but those 'guard' things are a hard find. The Combo Tramp is quite cool (esp fabric roof one) but rare even in Europe and specific spares... I saw NOS side skirts but the seller wanted £250/pr - ouch.

I have a vauxhall astra van that I use as my daily drive, but iv also fitted it out for camping, it's very basic but it's ideal for a one man camper

They're a standard fitment on the Opel Combo Tour (I have one) 5-seater. Breakers in Europe will have them.

Yes I saw that too. I've got a next gen Combo D with two sliding doors & tailgate, all with dark glass. A fold flat seat would give me more space. Probably need to remove the rear seats for longer trips
just gained a new sub, im a vauxhall man and like the simpliicity of em. been looking into getting a combo recently for a wee camper. going to have to show this too the lady and she if she will allow :) that was a minter, and for 150 wow, im assuming some paint or welding was nedded at that price? also do you know if he had to cut structural members out for that roof or is it tight enough to get between

Loving it. Unfortunately lot of the stuff that is mounted on the outside isn't allowed in Germany. Anyways, that Opel looks quite neat.

@@JaysFabShop I think he means it's not the tailgate Combo. Most of the camper conversions are done to the tailgate version. This vid proves it can work well on the 2-rear-door Combo.
Aw yeah I see. Me personally I prefer barn doors on smaller vans and this owner is so tall he would walk into a tail gate when open all the time 😂.
@@JaysFabShop And the bottle opener would be awkward. OTOH, it makes for a sort-of awning - I know people who say it's handy to sit under in a drizzle but I doubt if that's great for a proper camper van; damp mattress, argh.
That's a nice job, Just converted my combo 1.7cdti to a camper, anyone wanting to do this then get the 1.7 Combo, engines are Isuzu and bullet proof and has more than enough power to pull the extra weight, the combo is a cracking van to mod though everything is in the right place, neat idea for the roof might consider that, just finished fitting cruise control to mine which makes a big difference when your on the longhaul trips, easy mod for the combo too.
