This run/runner is so much better than the previous guy (flicky) who 'ran' Devil May Cry 3. That guy talked so much hype for himself, pretty much did a casual run and was on New Game+, this guy was humble and acknowledged how most times New Game+ runs are cheap. I love the mild mannered kinda dorky speedrunners, they seem like decent people and their commentary is usually informative and interesting.
Steve Nugent save game glitch runs can be entertaining to watch, but they aren't even close to as impressive as regular runs. Newgame+ runs suck though.
+Penelope Seale I know it's been 10 months and you probably don't care about that but actually you can use a cheat to activate all the difficulties and costumes, in the HD edition using it makes it so that you can't have trophies or save(while using the cheat) but that shouldn't be a bother in a speedrun. He also went on Very Hard, not DMD (the hardest difficulty).
The room at 59:50 is ridiculous. It's funny because it seems like Molotov's making a joke when he says it's the hardest room of the run- he makes it look easy. It's genuinely the toughest room in the run, and it is unforgiving. He throws the food the instant he comes out the door because it makes a *tink* sound. which distracts an unseen guard just off the bottom right corner of the screen in an ally. You have to nail it just right, (using the controller's pressure-sensitive buttons to hit Snake's overarm throw, rather than his underarm throw) otherwise the guard will look up and see snake running across the screen before he can make it across the street. Let go of the grenade pin a step early and guards in the center spot snake for an instant alarm (and end of the run). The unseen guard in the ally can see naked snake from a mile away and instantly go into alarm, even if he's standing over the exit. Molotov's precise path and crouch behind the crate (probably within a tenth of a second) slips out of this guard's view the instant he looks up from the food. Ridiculously precise strat to pull an hour deep.
TickDickleson wtf. I've gotten foxhound but I didn't know you could do that. Instead of doing the badass smoke grenade silent walk, I knock the dude in the ally out, and go the long way to the sewers. Where's the maintenance outfit?
"Even if you don't kill the bosses they still show up in the sorrow sequence" Because they all still die, each of them goddamn EXPLODED, I would call it a good reason for them to be "ghosts"
It's the MGS3 theme, Molotov is awesome, the people (in the room) viewing are so few that you know they are true fans who came to a bad time slot to see Molotov. Eespecially compared to the crowd for Pokemon after. And of course it's for charity donations to fight cancer. In terms of cringe, I've seen FAR worse at AGDQ. Also, anyone who's played MGS3 has (horribly) sung the theme at some point. Example: th-cam.com/video/4n1sIW_Twn4/w-d-xo.html If you want to hear an amazing version:
If you select "I like MGS3!" at the beginning (which he did to access E Extreme), you get the extra camos you normally get after beating the game once. You also have access to all the DLC camos, but he doesn't use any of those.
I've been waiting on this one! I've noticed they always had a great run of this on their page, but as spoiled by commentary as I am now I just couldn't watch that one haha. Thanks for the great run and commentary!!!
I have the dumbest idea for AGDQ 2016. The very first run will be MGS3. They get to the end fight and save, then wait until the end of AGDQ to finish the rest of the game
It was like yesterday that Konami donated loot for this speedrun, and now they want nothing more than to kill off the MGS series for good. It's crazy how two years can turn a bad company into a fucking horrible one.
+SeanTheOriginal You should probably look up more of their history. They've had something of a streak since the PS1 era, especially towards its employees and not giving their IPs the proper love they needed. It was just this generation that they pulled batshit insane choices on Silent Hill and Metal Gear that got them into the "shitty company" spotlight.
if anyone should kill off the MGS series, it should be it's creator, Kojima, he's the one who made it and would know when it should have it's well-deserved rest, as I always say, if you keep a good game series running, you'll only make it terrible!
it's cool how the strategy to beat the end ( at 42:00 ) is similar to the speed run strategy against MGS4's sniper boss, crying wolf. Sneak up to point blank, stun-lock them with grenades. I can't imagine it was an intentional design feature (like the other gazillion references/echos between games) but it just shook out that way.
So much better than the modern run of that Jaguar Pleb especially considering the doesn't lisp and stumbles through every sentence. Not to mention how comfortable Molotov looks running this
Principallly I could do this run as well but I would save multiple times and have to retry the hardest parts like some of the boss fights alot. Its truly incredible to be consistent for a whole run done on such a technically high level. Great work I could never stand 1.5 hours gaming without a single mistake especially playing so precisely and also riskful. Amazing!!
Holy...all the exploits, boss fights (except Pain), stealth paths were just exceptional, especially single-segment. Molotov is on fire (sorry). All that under 1:30? Yes please.
Bucketninja It took for roughly 26 hours my first play through ever.I mostly screwed around when I played.I should try to speed run since I have beaten the game like 50 times now. >w
wow what a run i was expecting him to be caught somewhere ive recently been playing and knocked more than 2 hours off my first play thru time thanks to these videos still my best time is 2:40
people seem to be surprised that it is on EE but if you find the patterns in this game it is simple as pie i promise you i dont speedrun and don't bum speedrunning this but i can still complete it in 1hr 35min so yeah just follow the patterns
Wow he got really unlucky with The Pain. Still - really really good run. He does some decent commentary too, as well. And the other guy on the couch with him contributes in a good way, too (which is sort of rare in these runs - people other than the runner are usually annoying, lol). Also, his strat with The End is pretty amazing.
Molotov should get a better time slot next time, because this was an awesome run - this coming from a guy that spent way too many hours on this game when it first came out. I love the series, and MGS3 might've been the peak not counting nostalgia value of MGS1 and the old MGs (Ground Zeroes had a very, very good dynamic, but it's looking to get ruined by ridiculous slapstick and/or poop comedy and Rising-style over the top abilities in the upcoming MGS title, and GZ by itself was way too short to be called a full game). Again, great run Molotov - you got the views on TH-cam at least!
+evorm yes 3DS version sucks frames wise, but you get custom camo, peace walker controls and smaller portability. Vita is a bit bulky, but I guess so is the 3DS
Shockley Haynes does some awesome stuff with this game, too. This was a good run, but I'd like to see James sometime if he can make it; he has such an in-depth understanding of the game and its mechanics, and has all the makings of an interesting speedrunner.
Those floating pulpit is actually called the WASP. It was very much a piece of cold war technology. But it was deemed ineffective in any scenario so it was scrapped. Look it up.
i love that you still have to do that ladder haha. this game is 10 years old, i think if there was a way around the ladder, someone would've figured it out.
Dude foxhound live with that time!!! DAMN. People really don't realize how huge that is, or there would be more people in there and it wouldn't be done in the middle of the night. Molotov is incredible.
Whoa, never thought that beating fear to get his camo could be that easy, I had a hard time since he keeps on eating and replenishing his stamina. And I wonder if there's a MGS3 stealth camo speedrun...
+Muammar Gibran Wheres the point of an Stealth Camo Speedrun? He would just run trough. I used Fear's camo too in my Non Alert EXTREME playthrough. It was basically ESSENTIAL for me to use, so i keep that 80% camo everywhere.
I was a little sad that there seemed to be a small turnout, but then I got to when they actually start singing. A room of that would actually /not/ be a good thing, so I guess we break even.
its different watching a speedrun being done live than watching a recorded one, just like how music is different on CD than at a concert but the concert can be just as enjoyable even though it has mistakes in it.
It's been 10 years since this legendary run and it still ranks as one of my all-time favorites.
Definitely. I keep this video saved in a playlist and watch it once or twice a year, MGS3 was my favorite game ever.
Gets a 1h39 In game time with FOXHOUND rating, gets asked whether he wants to save, shuts off the console and says "we can just do it again.." LOL
lol molotov is a savage.
He could probably do it while he's drunk
Description,"Very underwatched and underrated run." Couldn't agree more. This run was amazing.
Commenting so you can come back and re watch..... your welcome :)
I love watching speed runs of my favorite game like this, I always learn something new. For example I didn't know about the fear stun thing.
New game+ should not be allowed on speed runs.
It's up there with save game glitch runs....both are shit.
In devil may cry the only possible way to play the hardest difficulty is new game+
Steve Nugent
save game glitch runs can be entertaining to watch, but they aren't even close to as impressive as regular runs. Newgame+ runs suck though.
+Penelope Seale I know it's been 10 months and you probably don't care about that but actually you can use a cheat to activate all the difficulties and costumes, in the HD edition using it makes it so that you can't have trophies or save(while using the cheat) but that shouldn't be a bother in a speedrun. wolfumz lol going through that room without the maintenance outfit is probably one of the toughest things you can do to yourself in the entire game.
TickDickleson wtf. I've gotten foxhound but I didn't know you could do that. Instead of doing the badass smoke grenade silent walk, I knock the dude in the ally out, and go the long way to the sewers. Where's the maintenance outfit?
wolfumz Oh wait my bad I'm talking about the wrong room, lol my bad.
If this had a better time slot, there would practically be a choir singing the theme to "Snake Eater" instead of just four dudes.
Mr.Bootleg I like the four dudes part better.
Aditya Narayan It is quite charming.
Pretty sad that there were more people at the end waiting for Pokemon than there was for the entire MGS3 run. Awesome run nonetheless.
+Soulr B So awesome that one person had to wear shades
+Soulr B Not really.
+Mavis 2
+Alex Wayne Yeah i prefer Action, arcade, Platformer speedruns. RPG speedruns are the ones i watch the least.
+Soulr B So fucking true !!!
Watching this after DSP is like night and day. so refreshing. legendary run.
Lol
run starts at 4:27
thanks very helpful
32:16 - Second smartest guy in the game
48:20 - Smartest guy in the game
"Even if you don't kill the bosses they still show up in the sorrow sequence"
Because they all still die, each of them goddamn EXPLODED, I would call it a good reason for them to be "ghosts"
This run deserves so many more people in the room. Such an underrated game and runner.
Awesome run, I can't imagine how much practice and patience that took. Definite props to Molotov.
Volgin: "What a beautiful body.... Like a Newborn Baby!"
Guy: "What the fuck?"
I can't believe I'm watching this shit a day after finishing the FF7 run. AGDQ is my new addiction.
this speedrunner is amazing. he's really chill and appreciate the people watching him. wish some of the audience appreciated him..
I really like this guy. He really should have played in a bigger crowd
Those guys singing the main theme should be cringey and it would be if it was any other song but the MGS3 theme lol
Gggmanlives lol
Love ur reviews man
look who we have here
chu fockin cockaroaches
It's the MGS3 theme, Molotov is awesome, the people (in the room) viewing are so few that you know they are true fans who came to a bad time slot to see Molotov. If you want to hear an amazing version:
Jesus Christ, he made every boss look like a chump bitch! I didn't even know you can shit on The Fear like that!
This guy is a master gamer.
Well after he finished the game 100+ times, it is normal do gameplay like this.
Roy Sunshine I am the best MGS3 player...
WE MEET AGAIN
Bobby Singer Really ??
statistnr1 or just snipe him at the docks and then boom no boss fight
That's one of the best Speedruns all marathon. This guy deserves more watches and subscribers. Incredible mate..
I annoy my friends by saying "Metal Gear" over and over again in the exact same way Snake does in the Granin conversation XP
metal... gear. gear!
Does he say that in portable ops or Peace Walker?
If you select "I like MGS3!" at the beginning (which he did to access E Extreme), you get the extra camos you normally get after beating the game once.
You also have access to all the DLC camos, but he doesn't use any of those.
After 6 years, i was the first one to like your comment :P
The guy with the sunglasses seems like a cool guy to hang out with
He did a run of Sonic 1 in this same marathon which is extremely entertaining!
I love the cause of this guys...and it makes so enjoyable to watch their runs knowing that
Love this video, speedrun, gameplay and commentary very much! Watched it four or five times i think. :D
I've been waiting on this one! I've noticed they always had a great run of this on their page, but as spoiled by commentary as I am now I just couldn't watch that one haha. Thanks for the great run and commentary!!!
run starts 4:26
Thanks for putting the start time in a bubble for us. It saves our time.
I was actually looking for this run. Thanks for the upload!
I have the dumbest idea for AGDQ 2016. The very first run will be MGS3. They get to the end fight and save, then wait until the end of AGDQ to finish the rest of the game
Salmon Belmont that’s actually a really fun idea for a run
It was like yesterday that Konami donated loot for this speedrun, and now they want nothing more than to kill off the MGS series for good.

+WorkGalaxy47 wat about zelda bruh
That is the most unique way I've ever seen The End's defeat.
Best MGS speedrun at GDQ to date.
it's cool how the strategy to beat the end ( at 42:00 ) is similar to the speed run strategy against MGS4's sniper boss, crying wolf. Sneak up to point blank, stun-lock them with grenades. I can't imagine it was an intentional design feature (like the other gazillion references/echos between games) but it just shook out that way.
That theme song omg thank you guys so much
That Fission Mailed donation was brilliant. True MGS fan there.
Best thing to do is subscribe to the channel so you won't miss anything. I've sent a link to your pm box
So much better than the modern run of that Jaguar Pleb especially considering the doesn't lisp and stumbles through every sentence. Not to mention how comfortable Molotov looks running this

You guys are uploading my favorite games.
Dat naked ocelot unit, holy shit.
Holy...all the exploits, boss fights (except Pain), stealth paths were just exceptional, especially single-segment.
Molotov is on fire (sorry). All that under 1:30? Yes please.
I missed this one. Super-bummed because I was really excited for this run.
This is so fantastic. And I love them all singing the theme song.
really glad i stayed up to watch this live
molotov is a boss, i wish he streamed :(
That was crazy fight with the fear. Never cross my mind to do that.
Keeping the MGS series alive
25:51 "What's this? A handsome family picnic woefully underpopulated by bees?!" - Dr. Bees (R.I.P.)
I just love to watch these speed runs
Who is that on the couch? I actually liked his contributions to this.
Naegleria. He's a cool dude.
11:46 dang that guy in the back has an exelent singing voice
yes, my and my girlfriend have been waiting for this one
U still togther ?
such an underrated run....
and im still here wathing it xD
Brunn0121 i dont understand why you said xd, nothing you said was funny.
jay shoota76 you must be a real fun guy at parties xdxdxdxdxd
I hate when people do these incredible performances when there's like 4 people watching.
Much better with tons of spectators and their reactions
It took me 15 hours to finish this game for the first time. Good run :^)
17
It took me 6 hours
Abbott my best time IS 2 hours on the nds
im rembering that the fear thing that was badass good run bro
It took me 20 hours on my first playthrough XD
....I hope that is actually what it means.
Wow, it took me 12 hours the first time I played like 8 years ago.
Well I did do some bullshit during my first playthrough XD (Like going apeshit and killing everyone in the room with me)
Bucketninja It took for roughly 26 hours my first play through ever.I mostly screwed around when I played.I should try to speed run since I have beaten the game like 50 times now. >w
I have only beaten the game one time ;w; I want to play through the games storywise (Like this: MGS3, MGSPW,MGSV,MG,MG2,MGS1 etc.)
Sad this run had so few veiws. Its pretty great.
+Tim Durpadeedurp i agree with you dude!!!
I feel bad that more people couldn't have watched him play. Such an amazing game.
That The End fight was ridiculous.
My fights against him usually take twice as long as this entire video.
"Missing one of the kerotan frogs on the bike run" I chuckled. The exact thing happened to me and I thought I hit it, so replayed it again.
I thought he was tbagging The Boss for a second I was like FK NO YOU DONT DISRESPECT THE BOSS LIKE THAT.
RiCkY CoRoNA HAHAH
RiCkY CoRoNA AHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
RiCkY CoRoNA Welp, that would have been Hari Keri form me
@@daltonsmith433 don't you mean Hari Kiri rock? You need scissors! 61!
It makes perfect sense that the bosses show up in the Sorrow sequence. When you beat them, they tend to... explode. Most people die when they explode.
I might have to retire this game from my life after seeing this. Incredible run
Freakin' awesome. Watched this with a friend yesterday, we couldn't hear you singing because we were singing it too ;D
Great run, great commentary. Never seem some of your methods before this run.
wow what a run i was expecting him to be caught somewhere ive recently been playing and knocked more than 2 hours off my first play thru time thanks to these videos still my best time is 2:40
It's absolutely ludicrous how under-watched this is. One of the best PS2 games being ran on the hardest difficulty in such an amazing time. What the..
52:50 was the a Running Man reference? Wow I seriously love you guys haha.
people seem to be surprised that it is on EE but if you find the patterns in this game it is simple as pie i promise you i dont speedrun and don't bum speedrunning this but i can still complete it in 1hr 35min so yeah just follow the patterns
XD "Use kicking to get animal rations" says a fan. Molotov says, "I thought about it but I always miss the crab"
love this game, ty for upload this!
17:42 Insert Goomba stomp sound effect here.
Only 10 minutes in and I've already learned so much about this game. Sorry for the repetitive comments. I'm used to the chat.....FrankerZ
The End battle was beautiful.
I haven't seen anything so magnificent since one particular sequence in mind by SourceRuns on Half Life 2 Episode 1.
"oh my god! I'm so bored! There is nothing to do... not even SDA have a vid-- *see MGS3*
I love you guys, seriously, I love you so much.
Awesome run! This makes want to play MGS 3 at European extreme for the foxhound rank.
This is a freaking epic game!!! Love it!!!
i replay and replay this game on my nintendo 3DS like 100 times
it runs horribly on 3DS, with like 20 FPS, how do you play it????
evorm not 20 fps i got like 500 fps
+evorm yes 3DS version sucks frames wise, but you get custom camo, peace walker controls and smaller portability. Vita is a bit bulky, but I guess so is the 3DS
Dallas Garland you can take a picture and make a camo with it so i make a camo with 100% camo :D
thats what custom camo is...
Look it up.
This is just insane. Such a great run!
i love that you still have to do that ladder haha. this game is 10 years old, i think if there was a way around the ladder, someone would've figured it out.
It's straight up and just a ladder, there is no way to get around it.
Thatguy7242 exactly no mega man gap jumps in mgs xD
This is so, so cool. Molotov is a legend
Dude foxhound live with that time!!! DAMN. People really don't realize how huge that is, or there would be more people in there and it wouldn't be done in the middle of the night. Molotov is incredible.
It really hits my ego when someone says that they aren't good at something, and then does it 10x better than I can
He uses the original camera not even the rotatable, BEAST
Whoa, never thought that beating fear to get his camo could be that easy, I had a hard time since he keeps on eating and replenishing his stamina.
And I wonder if there's a MGS3 stealth camo speedrun...
Muammar Gibran there probably is a stealth camo speedrun but i imagine it being a running simulator
+Muammar Gibran
Wheres the point of an Stealth Camo Speedrun? He would just run trough.
I used Fear's camo too in my Non Alert EXTREME playthrough. It was basically ESSENTIAL for me to use, so i keep that 80% camo everywhere.
WHAT A THRILL
Awesome run man, and great The End fight.
I was a little sad that there seemed to be a small turnout, but then I got to when they actually start singing. A room of that would actually /not/ be a good thing, so I guess we break even.
This was so chill and cas'
Love it
Am I the only one who claps with the applause of the other people in the archived stream like a weirdo?
This was an awesome URN! Would love to see MGS2 & 4.
I love Molotov for picking the very good games to speedrun :)
Did I just hear a reference to the movie The Running Man in a video? Best video ever. xD
its different watching a speedrun being done live than watching a recorded one, just like how music is different on CD than at a concert but the concert can be just as enjoyable even though it has mistakes in it.
The pain is a real pain in the ass. Still very impressive how fast he finished him.
