Awesome video! You and Hikari are the best around that’s for sure. Also I have one question tho: what on the shagohodd escape you look up? It’s some kind of trick to prevent enemies to attack you?
It's to reduce slowdown. MGS3 doesn't support frame skipping, so when the game's framerate drops, the game slows down to wait for the next frame to be drawn. This means that you take more time to make the same amount of progress. By looking up, I get a higher FPS, so less slowdown, so I go faster.

actually the WR run was done by Hideo Kojima when his console froze 13 seconds into his run and he threw it out his window. when he went to retrieve the console it was playing the end credits which ended 19 seconds into the run. so the real WR speedrun is 19 seconds by the one and only Hideo Kojima. possibly the best Any% run ever done in any game.

@@FirehawkProductionsThis is false. A faster playthrough was done by the Konami Execs. Instead of running the game in any console, they ran the game with Ps5 or Pachinko Slot V5. Konami execs shoot the screen with the silver balls and then fired Hideo Kojima. All was done within 15 seconds. They also cancelled Silent Hills along the way.

I'm impressed with the whole speedrun, but The Fear is just unbelievable. How can you possible get to that?
The Fear's pretty simple if you're willing to do a slightly slower strat. You can grab a machine gun beforehand, then use the fake death pill and wait for him to turn around. Once he does, throw your stun grenade anywhere near him and shoot him as fast as you can with the machine gun.

It sounds like you're holding R2 for too long. Two short taps is all you need.

That's right. With the current strat, doing the fight is at least 45 seconds faster than killing him early could ever hope to be. With the previous strat, sniping him early had the potential to be the same speed, but caused other problems and generally made the game harder, so it still made sense to do the fight.
Do you do anything that manipulates the Pain fight or is it just down to pure speed? I am getting the hang of tactical reload headshots on him, but sometimes it feels like he just says "nah its time for you to be covered in bees" while I'm in the middle of shooting him (the annoying one where the bees fly around and sting you every second)
Not really. I don't recommend going for headshots, it's too easy to miss. Just open with 4 body shots, throw a stun to get him out of his shield, them spam body shots to end phase 1. Open phase 2 with a stun to get him out of his shield, then spam body shots for all of phase 2.

Great playthrough, but where did you get the SVD? You didn't get it during the End fight, and not in the Ponizovje swamp warehouse.
The SVD is added to your inventory when you regain your gear behind the waterfall. If it wasn't, it would be possible to softlock if you never grabbed the SVD in the 2 relatively hidden locations it appears in.

@@sneakysquirrel1990 The barrel was environmental damage, so it didn't count as a kill. Volgin doesn't count as a kill because he doesn't die, whether I use a lethal weapon or not. Same as Ocelot, but it just happens to be faster to non-lethal Ocelot.

During escape from Groznyj Grad, why didn't you equip cigar? Would've decreased your life bar on the way to sorrow battle.
The Sorrow doesn't count towards IGT. The game stores what frame you started the fight at, then reverts the IGT to that frame once the fight is finished, meaning that anything you do during the fight doesn't count, including how long it takes you to finish. That's also why the fact that I had a very slow death in the fight didn't matter.

What is the difference between a turbo used and not ? Speedrun website indicate you use turbo compared to every other run ever done.
It just means I don't have to repeatedly mash X to skip cutscenes. It has no appreciable use in gameplay. I made a video about this when we were asking the community to vote on whether or not turbo should be allowed in runs: th-cam.com/video/mwo26BnIO5A/w-d-xo.html

What is the advantage that gives you using the box so often
The box makes you walk up hills and stairs faster, as well as allows you to do box headshots, which is a fast way of taking out a guard. It also puts out fire if Snake is on fire.

Nah, that's the dev save. It basically lets you teleport to any room in the game with all items. When it was made, the time was just manually set to 1200 hours. I probably do have at least that much total time in the game though.

@@Major_Zero How can you have such a good calibration when aiming at faces?
@@zot3976 On some guards (like the one at 2:40), you can do what's called a 'quick headshot' by standing on your toes after aiming you gun, which quickly aligns the gun with his head. For the ones where that doesn't work, it's just practice-mostly getting familiar with my controller.

Guards just can't see through that gap between the tree in the wall, regardless of your camo index.

European extreme with that health and fast stamina draining it's almost impossbile for me. I have to play on very easy to enjoy the game since i am used to mgs1 and 2

@@zejpm5950 Yeah, the Master Collection version doesn't have any slowdown unless you have a slow PC, or maybe on Switch.
43:27. How in the literal FUCK did they not see you? Is there a mechanic that causes this?
I can explain part of it. The first part is an AI exploit, and I do it again at 32:42. When a guard turns around to see another guard unconscious, he prioritizes waking that guard up over seeing Snake in the box or hearing his footsteps. If I didn't have the box on, the guard would see Snake. It's similar to what I do at the bridge in the Virtuous Mission (3:20), where I cause a guard to call for backup on his radio, which makes him unable to hear my footsteps, allowing me to walk right behind him. As for why the other guard in Groznyj Grad who looks straight at me, I have no clue why that works.

@@angelustt His run is multi-segment, whereas mine is single-segment. This means that his run was done in many smaller segments, and mine was done in one single attempt. This allows him to do strats that are impossible in single-segment, such as at 18:45 in his run, when he exits Granin's area with a caution, then saves and reloads to remove it. These runs are separated in different categories on the boards and all runners consider them to be substantially different.
