I immediately got disappointed upon not seeing that technique being used, honestly Krunch seems to be designed to be one of those "heavy" class "high skill" characters like in other kart racing games so doing that for sharp turning combined with the high top speed is actually kinda fun to use if you know how to handle it, playing characters with good handling and accel feels boring in comparison.
@@Nonhuman The problem with that is that.. Krunch is worthless compared to the other two Heavyweights Banjo and Drumstick, who have slightly better stats than Krunch which makes all the difference

I had no clue he was a bottom tier character or what a tier was..I just played the game 😂 the first wizpig gave me absolute hell as a kid because I didn't know you were supposed to release the acceleration button right before you hit a booster 😂
As a 90s kid who grew up having fun at this game with my older siblings, my cousins my age, and my neighborhood friends growing up, I relate lot to your passion and frustration with Krunch. You're top level for doing this challenge since no one in their right kind chooses him to race competitively. I love learning that a game I never played had assets that ultimately turned into one of my favorite games (Star Fox Adventures)! Really cool piece of video game trivia I’ll hold onto.
As a kid, I couldn't beat a hovercraft map with the silver coins due to how hard it was to control Pipsy, it was the one with the bell and the bridge. But one day, I played around with different drivers and finally tried out Krunch when playing versus with my siblings, I realized he was way easier to control in water, allowing me to finally progress further into the game, and eventually after beating Wizpig, I thought I had finished the game, until I took Krunch for a stroll on the beach and accidentally ran into the plaque or whatever it is, unlocking the final world. The absolute amazement when I realized there was more game to be had, was absolutely peak. Good times.
Good observation. A lot of people don’t get that heavyweight characters, such as Banjo, Krunch, and Drumstick, actually handle much better in the hovercraft, while Pipsi and Tittup, the lighweights who handle the car and plane better, are actually the worst in the hovercraft. Something to think about when devising a plan for the various courses.
I was going to do this for my April Fools video this year and then I see you beat me to it lmao. You did a very good job with this challenge so I must commend your efforts and mastery of DKR🎉
Krunch is meant to be in the "heavy" class in terms of kart racing games which are meant for higher skill players compared to medium and light racers, usually heavy racers all share the same stats of very high top speed and very poor everything else in most kart games. The way to play this guy ( also Drumstick, same kinda character ) is to master braking while drifting for sharp turns ( which I noticed you figured it out later on in future funland ), he's a lot more satisfying to get good at compared to other characters that have high handling and accel. ( just like in most other kart racers )
As a speed/challenge runner also that was cool as hell. This was a challenge I had on my list for a while too but I was doing other ones so will probs get to it in the future. GG

I have speedran this game 100% on plenty of occasions.. saw this video suggested but didn't watch it before I tried it myself. Krunch adds a whole new level of difficulty to this game that I was not prepared for in the slightest. Kudos for sticking through the pain and suffering.
When I was a teenager with no other gaming system besides the Nintendo 64, I beat both Adventure 1 and Adventure 2 on DKR with all of the characters. With a 30 minute limit on playing video games, I got the goal done in less than 3 months. This brought back many old memories.
This video inspired me to do the same challenge. And what a challenge it was. Playing as Crunch on certain tracks still haunt me to this day. Snowball Valley, Greenwood Village, and omg Darkmoon Caverns was a nightmare. And agreed, the second Wizpig race isn’t nearly as difficult as the first.

Very impressive to see this done irl. Krunch is like the game's hidden hard mode he is designed to be the hardest character to play as and he is outclassed by Drumstick in every stat there is no advantage to playing as Krunch beyond the fact that doing so will require you to become very good at the game to do, so making his difficulty it's own reward.

Adventure 2 is where boys become men with Krunch. Also as a tip, when letting go of the accelerator, leave it off for 2-3 seconds, the burn off actually adds far more speed than just letting it off for the inital boost

I had a hard time even using conker or the chicken, had to play as the turtle or the rat girl for decent handling. Turtle was the best character of the non secret chars
I remember how horrid Krunch felt to use in the 90s compared to my favorite, Tiptup, let alone with an old N64 controller. I wonder how many people coming to see this truly understand how much he is constantly fighting the player's control over him, because it's like trying to balance a ball of lead on your face.
I did this exact challenge a year ago, and the roadblocks that you were stuck on were the ones I was stuck on too. I'm surprised you didn't use green boosts as much in your winning run of Wizpig 1.

7:18 back when i played DK Racing i cried while trying the final boss over and over again... tho i managed to beat him after MANY tries, he is still a fudging unfair boss. Still love DK Racing regardless.
Ok now do this with the Ultimate AI cheat. Attempting that is true mastery of DKR. Great video!
Wow! when I was a kid I beat the whole game with just Conker, now I can't beat Wizpig's last race not even with T.T. 😮
Dude, Conker with the Hovercraft is my favorite. No way Hovercraft is the worst vehicle.
The game definitely gets easier after you get the controls back down
wizpig is indeed not a problem, its the stages!
Nah Wizpig is unfairly hard :(
A true warrior.
if your playing as Krunch, you're gonna have to try accumulating as much top speed as you can
I did this exact challenge a year ago, and the roadblocks that you were stuck on were the ones I was stuck on too. I'm surprised you didn't use green boosts as much in your winning run of Wizpig 1.
Great job!
Hell yea bro I’m with my people
Taj makes me think DKR will never come to NSO
Do adventure 2 mode with Krunch, THAT would really knock my socks off!
The DS version which allows you to customize the stats of your vehicles makes the Krunch challenge much much easier.
As a single guy with more than average free time on his hands who always has to choose Pipsy, Tiptup or Diddy to beat the game, I'm stunned by the mastery of Krunch shown here.
