I was told by a Moen phone rep to use white vinegar on a kitchen sink with stuck cartridge. I poured small amounts of vinegar, waited 5 minutes, tried turning, more vinegar, etc... and eventually it came out. You might need a syringe with a horizontal shower cartridge.
Wow. You made that stuck cartridge removal look as easy as one two three. By following your example, I was equally successful and feeling grateful. Watching this instruction video was easy to follow and easy to learn from. Much thanks for making it available.
@@drsaqlainbhattithebonsaich1196 Yes it did. It didn't come out in one piece but I was able to break up the plastic part. Good thing I didn't have the plumber show up.
@@drsaqlainbhattithebonsaich1196 it didn't work lol. I got the screw in there, but when I tanked, it just ripped the plastic out. Tried 3 different holes. Called a plumber and they actually put a blowtorch to it and got it out. Your video was great though.
Thank you for your help your method worked very well for me. I used the existing threaded hole and a longer bolt with a few scraps of wood. Thanks again,
Nice job, but it does put a lot of stress on the whole pipe when you pull like that. However, a bolt threaded into the cartridge through some large diameter washers, placed against hole in the pipe, allows the force to be transferred to the outer rim of the hole of the pipe instead.
Is the lifetime warranty for original purchaser only? We bought our house second hand and it's got all Moen fixtures, but we got no receipts because it was all here when we moved in. Do we still qualify for the lifetime warranty? Plus, all our fixtures were installed by the home builder, so I'm guessing even the original owner of the home had no receipts either.
@@lambertj.2892- A few years ago, I was able to get Moen replacement parts free of charge in Canada WITHOUT original purchase receipts. I took my old, worn-out Moen valve stem cartridge(s) to the Plumbing service counter in Home Depot or RONA, and swapped for new part(s), one for one. Can. Tire didn't offer such service. Don't know how Home Hardware, Lowes (now under RONA), and other plumbing stores handle this. In addition, Moen had mailed O-rings and gaskets not carried by the above retailers to me for free and w/o my receipts. If you call Moen, do get the part #, product #/name, or an accurate description of the item ready at hand.
If Dr Saqlain Bhatti had devised this simple hack all by yourself, you are indeed quite a clever man❗ After watching this video, I stumbled upon another clip depicting the same trick, posted a little over a year before Bhatti's ... "How to remove a shower cartridge with the stem broken off inside", by Stephanie Vandaelle, on Jul 8, 2021. So, here goes the old cliché : There is nothing new under the sun! I browsed through some of the videos in this channel, and Bhatti appears to be a person of multiple talents! Does the "Dr." title actually mean medical doctor? A PhD degree? Or just a form of recognition for your expertise in Bonsai and/or cooking?
@Banana4805 thanks for your Comment. Well, I am a Ph.D. degree holder retired, and now a DIY person. When I got to replace the broken bath and shower cartridge, I watched some videos on TH-cam for replacing the stuck cartridges, but I did not get the chance to watch the clip by Stephanie. Well, I got the idea for this hack by watching a video where a pro plumber used the tap-and-die tool to remove the stuck cartridge. Even Moen also suggested using the Tap and Die tool when I contacted them.
The cartridge puller is effective only when the threaded shaft of the cartridge is intact. In my case, the threaded shaft of the cartridge is broken and there is no way to attach the puller to the cartridge.
I have a puller tool. This tool works when the cartridge is in one piece and stuck. In my case, the shaft of the cartridge is broken, where you attach the tool.
I looked at several fine TH-cam ideas, Dr. Bhatti's recommendation made a potentially difficult job so easy.
32 year plumber here, nice work sir
Thank you
The best video ever and the cheapest way to get the broken cartridge out
Thanks @errolalex2608
Wow. Best video on the subject yet! Running to grab that curved plier and a wood black ! Good job man!
Thanks
You can even use a hammer with a curved end.
Great idea with using the curved pliers and a block of wood…I’m gonna try that method with mine tomorrow

Thanks, William, I am a DIY myself and feel proud that this instructional video is really helpful for other "DIY" personnel.
Smart way to get stucky & broken cartridge out! Thank you sir .
For others watching this, this is the method that saved me hours and $100s. I did put a piece of wood to brace the valve.
Thank you for the instructional video.
You are welcome!
Wow I want to say thankyou . It worked perfect
Excellent video. I did exactly what video show and it work. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent video….very clever solution!
You saved me a lot of time and frustration today, thank you!
I am glad that this simple and effective method was helpful for you.
Very good tutorial. Mine is still stuck after 6 hours. I will try this.
Hopefully, this will work. Good luck.

Good suggestion. I stop pulling when I see the valve move.
Lifetime warranty .
Good to know
Yes. you need to have a prove of purchase.

You are lucky, because most of cartridges are easily broken after drilling.

use the MOEN CARTRIDGE PULLER MUCH EASER THAN DRILLING HOLE.
The cartridge puller is effective only when the threaded shaft of the cartridge is intact. In my case, the threaded shaft of the cartridge is broken and there is no way to attach the puller to the cartridge.
@@drsaqlainbhattithebonsaich1196 you are right, my mistake, sorry
just buy the puller tool...
