Since the Switch 2 has a good chance of being backwards compatible, it is pretty much 99% confirmed, you can probably still buy all Switch games on the eshop even after the original Switch eshop dies, so don't buy random games that you probably won't play just because the Physical version will be expensive. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but be careful
True, never buy games you don't plan on playing, but I will ALWAYS argue for the superiority of physical games on Nintendo. It's near impossible to break, unlike a eshop game that could be taken down for any reason including the shop closing. Yes their are archives online but companies can sue to keep even non profit archives from distributing anything. Like a library where you can only look at the spines.
I will play through every game I buy. Will buy physical for the switch unless impossible. Not for sake of collecting them. It just saves some digital, storage space on the switch.
I’m going a different route in my collecting. I do categories. I’ve got all of the: Mega Man, Sonic, Zelda games on Switch. I’m working on Mario and the 2.5D HD RPGs (Octopath, Triangle Strategy, etc) and any collectors edition stuff that looks nice on my limited shelf space especially with Custom Spines
I bought Harvestella it's okay but definitely a title you shouldn't sleep on as well as Oninaku. Also another game I feel people shouldn't sleep on is an Atlus-Vanillaware title called Unicorn Overlord I honestly feel that game is honestly overlooked and you know anything produced by Atlus it's definitely worth getting especially when a console ends its cycle.

Any game related to the Type-Moon properties will be rare. Melty Blood and Witch on the Holy Night are already super expensive. Atlus games usually go up in price too. If you want to get into the Switch version of TWEWY the secret to enjoying that game is playing it on a Switch Lite if you have one. It's lighter and makes using the touchscreen much more comfortable. Though the Switch Lite was not available when that version of the game released.
The "ESRB" is not the only difference for the FF pixel remaster. The ESRB copy is blank white on the inside, the playasia version has pixel characters on the inside.

Another Code is one of the best games on Switch honestly (Yeah, I said that). If you like story driven games with big "the importance of family" it is a must buy. As for Bayonetta Origins, it is amazing, but better for Zelda fans and less of Bayonetta fans. However, it still solves some plot holes in Bayonetta franchise, while still being perfect for newcomers.
@@NickNintendo because they indirectly helped the scummy scalpers when they lied about the game being a limited time release. People paid top dollar due to fear of fomo and now they just come back with “jk lolz, more copies are being printed”

Most of these are available on Steam so if you're just worried about playing them you can grab them cheaper there, the Trails games always hold their value even on that launcher but there is currently a sale on so you can pick up from Trails of cold steel 3 and on for around 20-30 UK Quids. This is why Nintendo is still getting attention and appreciation as for all intents and purposes Emio is made for the Japanese market so any extra money from the International market will be icing on the cake.
Another Code and Bayonetta Origins are definitely worth getting, both hidden gems that I wish got talked about more often. I tried Daemon X Machina years ago and wasn't a fan, hopefully I can try it again and enjoy it.
In-general, physical games for the Switch are likely to increase in price in-relation to possible future demand as there is at least some limit a company will put on creating the physical product as-opposed to an 'unlimited' amount of digital copies - though games getting de-listed has been an issue, especially with Nintendo. Nintendo-itself no longer offers some of their own published games on their website, examples 1-2-Switch, Astral Chain and ARMS.
Irem is honestly one of the WORST when it comes to delisting so if you want a digital version of said game always get it sooner rather than later when it comes to other companies. They delisted their games like 2 or 3 years before the Wii U marketplace shut down I think.
the interior of the FF collection is different too. The import has interior deco but the English version is plain. Just so you know as yours is sealed. The playasia one actually looks better than the more expensive one lol.
Bayonetta Origins and Another Code Recollection have been on my list along with Super Mario RPG and WarioWare Move It! I do love the WarioWare games and bummed I never got a physical copy of Gold for the 3DS. Still I won’t give up on that, but I will have to get at least one or two of those in my Switch game want list very soon.
The Atelier games started getting popular in the west with Atelier Rorona on the PS3. They have always been very popular games in their respective niche. That said, every generation we get nice collections of previous gens. I think it’s safe to assume Rayza will have a triple pack one day on Switch2 and PS5.
'Laytons mystery journey: Katrielle and the millionaires conspiracy' is a game I think will be expensive and rare. Layton games hold value and now that Layton is back I think it will be in demand. It also had a low print run.
@@dilley_esq I've played the Switch version of Katrielle's game ( minor note it has some puzzles changed from the 3DS version). It's definitely the weakest entry in the Layton series. Akira Tago, who did the puzzles for the previous games, had passed away, so the puzzles this time aren't as engaging - "Is the answer seriously 'Golf' again?" is something I said when playing - and the game doesn't have an overarching story, instead being broken up into individual stories played one at a time, which makes the climax of the game feel really abrupt. Also there was an anime series years ago which never left Japan that answered some questions the game doesn't get around to, including two big ones: "Who is Kat's mother and where is Hershel during this?" (relatedly there is a special re-release of the Switch version in Japan that uses the anime voice cast. I just have the standard North America release). Now with all that said, I still liked it enough. It has a very silly charm to it.
I think a lot (certainly not all) of the Asian exclusive physicals with English will go up given the lack of availability once stores like Playasia go out of stock. Games like Setsuna, Oninaki, the SaGa series, Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana, Atelier Trilogies, Baten Kaitos, Etrian Odyssey, and Grandia will likely all go up.
Some really solid picks here. Astral Chain is one that I should have bought a physical of when I had the chance. They're kinda hard to find now so I wound up getting a digital version to play it.
I dunno if you've done a video with this in it but I would also add Deadly Premonition 2, it wasn't very good but was promoted heavily for a few months kinda like Devils Third on Wii U I believe it will be quite desirable to a collector after a few years. I managed to buy it from GAME here in the UK for £12. Deku deals has gotten me a few really good deals in the last few years. And from GAME, probably one of the more unlikely of places to score. Also I would add maybe Shin Magami tensei V, Original release and Vengeance re-release could be games that go up in value.
I snagged a copy of Daemon X Machina at my local Kroger that had apparently just been sitting there on the shelves since 2019. I knew right away I lucked out. Only copy they had.
I only collect items that I genuinely like and use. To me, collecting things just to display them on a shelf without appreciating their value seems disrespectful to the spirit of hobbies.
Oh wow I didn’t know there was a run of Blaster Master Zero Trilogy with the ESRB label 😮 I would’ve loved to add that to my collection considering my love of blaster master and Inti, but I’m happy with my Japanese Collectors edition ❤ it was my first ever overseas purchase (Amazon JP) and game
Mario vs Donkey Kong GBA remake is gonna be a rare one too, so does Peach Showtime, Endless Ocean Luminous, SMTVV, TTYDR, NWC NES Edition (physical format).
Not sure about Mario Vs Donkey Kong but I think you are going to end up being wrong on Peach Showtime. I definitely agree with you on Vengeance though which is crazy since usually complete games get a higher print. For Vengeance I think this is ONLY the case for the US and not Japan. Not sure on the Ocean one but TTYDR is censored so I don't see the point unless you can fix it and mod that scene back in. Though it has likely already been covered I would say avoid FES Encore as it is censored, both Japanese and English versions. The Japanese Wii U is the only proper one.
Didn't know about that Blaster Master collection. I want to play the games, and I would definitely pay for all the dlc on cart. Honestly, I'm not a fan of how Inti puts out dlc. I want to play them all, but making several individual purchases for each piece of dlc always feels wrong to me. Wish they'd bundle them, not just physically, but digital as well
Ok Neo: Wold ends with you got on sale many many times. There were plenty copies available. As a result, used games are decently low on ebay. But the first one seemed to have limited print and was only sold in USA for NA region. So that one is now way more expensive compared to the first one 2-3x of the price. It seems that first Bayonetta game is more demanded than Bayonetta Origins (which also went on sale already several times). Astral Chain does have that potential. The game is out of print for some time already (2-3 years) and may slowly raise up. Marvel ultimate Alliance was ported to 8th generation of consoles, but. The extension dlc packs with additional characters were not. And as a result those golden editions are now very expensive. WarioWare move it on switch was a cash grab. It is a really fun 3 hours game that was sold on almost same price as 3xA games. Captain Toad will give you more hours of fun, that WarioWare game, so of course people refused to buy at a full price. As a result it is often sitting in trade in games section. As for the second WarioWare game, it will depend on how many physical copies were released.
Uhh, yeah. Neo TWEWY, WarioWare and Bayo Origins all sold poorly. That’s why if people want them they should buy them now, because once retailers stop stocking them they *will* go up in price. That’s how this always goes. Welcome to collecting! :)
@@ItsAMiiBo the keyword is, that they had relatively big print release for how they sold. one of the big factors of rarity is the amount of copies produced.
You don’t know how many copies any of those three games exist. They all sold poorly, so even if there’s overstock *right now*, they will 100% become more desired later.
@@ItsAMiiBo well Neo - some cases were packed with the wrong cartridge. Which might push new games on reseller websites to even worse position. This is a Square Enix, so the expectations were high (especially when compared how the first game sell). This is also Square Enix, that after seeing demand for Final Fantasy Pixel remaster would order new production batch of physical Switch and PS4 games, if it will sell. We know for sure, that they produced more copies than of the first game ported on Switch, because the first game was not even sold physically in some regions. It seems that this franchise is a bit lost in a see of many other competitive games. This is not the case of an early port, or a Limited type of print initiative. With that being said, the game is nice for what it is, but it is not really a candidate for big price jumps. The good news is, that because of that you can get it with a nice price discount. Cereza is a spin of and not a main entry. Bayonetta was originally meant for adults. Now with the 3rd game, costumes have become more conservative, frame rate issues are at times there and fans are complaining about more bland story. So they managed the opposite of increasing of a fanbase - and that is stagnation. Yes, there will be players that buy it because of a different gameplay style and then those that collect first party games or all switch games, but these were mostly known. But seems, that they were yet again ambitious with the release there. Cereza is to Bayonetta what Mario and Sonic in Tokyo is to Mario franchise. So again they did overestimate expectation a big time here.
I recently just noticed that anything NIS America for the Switch goes up in price once time has passed. I was trying to get Alliance Alive, but that game is over $80+, even the PS4 version went up in price. Ever since then, any game from NIS America that I want, I usually get it right away.
I have a huge one piece collection but the first 11 one piece movies I had to buy European combo packs (cheaper than the Japanese releases) because they were never dubbed and released in America.
Switch 2: Well they never said the cartridge port will be backward compatible… careful it may very well be backward compatible with your digital library
Digimon World next order NA Version for switch was a crazy low print and went up a lot in price. Bandai Namco I believe did some pre orders on Amazon and their site, that was about it.
Digimon world next order I landed an ESRB version pre order on Amazon before it came out. Game shot up in price immediately so I just sold it at 155 on Mercari… kinda regret it because I see it steadily going up.
"Otogi Katsugeki [etc.]" is also a decent price ($36 USD) on PlayAsia. I'm kinda hoping it's getting localized because the English fan translation got DMCA'd a few months ago. Likely? Maybe not, but it gives me hope. Also, One Piece: Unlimited World Red is just not good. The core is fighting, but the mechanics are way too basic, and the other content doesn't add anything. Haven't played the Warriors games, but I played Hyrule Warriors: AoC, and that has way more depth. Just play that instead.
i have all the atelier games that released physically on my switch, not all of them are individual but i got the dusk trilogy that i imported, mysterious trilogy that i also imported, then the rest, It's a great series to collect. Trails of..... it's not just trails that gets expensive quickly, it's pretty much anything printed by NIS that isn't disgaea. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a reprint of crystar. that game had gone up in price considerably before the reprint. I'm a trails fan so i'm always frustrated by NIS lack of will to print more copies, it's almost ridiculous because there are many people who wanted to buy them but couldn't because they only have 5 in stock or something. it's very frustrating. Trails is getting more popular, but the real bottleneck is NIS refusal to produce more copies to adapt to the demand. NIS sucks as a publisher
I think one piece odyssey on switch will be expensive someday. Great game, switch version is actually great, and it probably won't sell well. It released over a year after the other consoles, and I think just the stigma of it being on switch will automatically push people away from it because the switch versions of 3rd party games are "not as good". Same kind of thing goes for dark souls remastered in my opinion.
I was worried that it would have problems being on more limited hardware like the Switch. I am glad to hear I was wrong as I would like to play it portably and NOT agree to Namco Bandai's TOS by buying it physically instead of digitally. I will import the Japanese version so I can get Japanese text since Namco Bandai seems to HATE offering that option to foreign copies. Props to Nintendo and Enix Square for generally doing it across the board. To be fair I returned "Dark Souls Remastered" as that version is NOT remastered but a port. The same goes for Ni No Kuni on the Switch but that one NEVER said remastered.
Though you might hold off on the puxel remasters because Square just announced a US release and have opened preorders. Several sites that stock the asian versions are starting to cut their shipping rices however because of, so just watch the prices eother way I guess.
I’m definitely getting a few games that I’m interested in like fae farm and another physical copy of animal crossing I gave my copy to my son lol so I need a replacement and fantasy life once it finally releases there my top must gets
Whoa! Had me doing double/triple takes Bo. I didn’t know you had a second channel. Anyway, for a cheap obscure Nintendo published game, I always have a hard time believing they published DC Super Hero Girls.
Another expensive game is the American version of the DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Torna The Golden Country can cost +95 USD on Ebay due to limited run :(
I dont see releasing 2 similar games or from the same franchise next to each other as a good strategy, its better to release Prime 4 first and use its hype to sell 2 and 3 after it
I totally agree with you on Another Code as I have asked around about it at a few game stores and they just NEVER got it. Even the place I found one, they have ONE. Oh game I will add is the Demon Slayer board game. I refuse to believe they did a large order of those and I think both of the general boxing games by Namco will be the same. You are right on Oninaki. I imported it out of interest. Oh but watch out for "Diofield Strategy". The English one has you agree to a TOS in opening the physical now. I suspect they are as BS as Namco Bandai's which consents to you letting them HARVEST the games on your profile. Nintendo should be ASHAMED of allowing crap like this. I paid for a single player game so you don't get free money from my gaming data also for your marketing or to some other scummy company wanting to push predatory ads on me. On Prime Day, Monsters was $30 or $35 which shows you how much more they printed. Oh and the benefit of buying Demon Slayer outside of Japan is Sony doesn't get your money, Sega does, at least for the US copies. Sony has the rights in Japan. I may buy a copy of Another Code Recollection to keep on hand for a trade or something. Same may go for an extra copy of the Demon Slayer Board Game. Hopefully down the road I might be able to trade for a copy of Persona 3 Portable since Reload got censored.

Definitely should add warhammer 40k - Boltgun
I snagged a copy of Daemon X Machina at my local Kroger that had apparently just been sitting there on the shelves since 2019. I knew right away I lucked out. Only copy they had.
Glad to see more love given to the Legend of Heroes games!
I only collect items that I genuinely like and use. To me, collecting things just to display them on a shelf without appreciating their value seems disrespectful to the spirit of hobbies.
No one should buy stuff they don’t like.
@@ItsAMiiBo but some people do for the sake of (completing the collection) but again is just my opinion, respect for those who like to do that 👍🏻
Oh wow I didn’t know there was a run of Blaster Master Zero Trilogy with the ESRB label 😮 I would’ve loved to add that to my collection considering my love of blaster master and Inti, but I’m happy with my Japanese Collectors edition ❤ it was my first ever overseas purchase (Amazon JP) and game
Mario vs Donkey Kong GBA remake is gonna be a rare one too, so does Peach Showtime, Endless Ocean Luminous, SMTVV, TTYDR, NWC NES Edition (physical format).
Pretty much any late Nintendo published game will probably be hard to find to varying degrees, yeah
@@XVa-uj8m any games sold less than 5 million copies are at the rare category
@@therealjaystone2344 You are joking right?
Yo Ho Yoho, its a pirates life for me🎶
Great video.
I have an extra sealed copy is Astral Chain just in case it does shoot up in price. Game is amazing.
Thanks for the video . Take care
I actually own almost all of these games you mentioned :D
W
Didn't know about that Blaster Master collection. I want to play the games, and I would definitely pay for all the dlc on cart. Honestly, I'm not a fan of how Inti puts out dlc. I want to play them all, but making several individual purchases for each piece of dlc always feels wrong to me. Wish they'd bundle them, not just physically, but digital as well
Do you have any idea how many videos it took me to be like, “it’s a Mii Bo.”
Amiibo……oh 😂
Btw, the fact an ESRB rating increases the value $500……the entire market is garbage.
Do you think the trials of mana remake will go up in price?
Yes buy it now while it's 27-33
I have a huge one piece collection but the first 11 one piece movies I had to buy European combo packs (cheaper than the Japanese releases) because they were never dubbed and released in America.
Switch 2: Well they never said the cartridge port will be backward compatible… careful it may very well be backward compatible with your digital library
Its gunna be backwards compatible guaranteed.
Yup it's already confirmed
Digimon World next order NA Version for switch was a crazy low print and went up a lot in price. Bandai Namco I believe did some pre orders on Amazon and their site, that was about it.
Bandai is a flip of a coin of what game is going to be released in EU or US.
I didn’t know about Oninaki, but now I’m going to have to grab it! I also need to grab i am setsuna..
Love the shirt!
Final fantasy has had a big retail release now. I would sell your copy now and rebuy and cex uk they give 117 cash for it
Damn CEX influencing our prices. The balls they have to sell reprinted covers as boxed.
They just announce an anniversary edition for the final fantasy pixel remastered. I pre ordered 2 copies 😊
Ive had my eye on DQM since it came out, I didn’t have to money to pick it up at the time but If I manage to find it i’ll probably pick it up
It’s a great game! My first DQM and I really liked it
Could you show games you can by at wal mart including kids games
Digimon world next order I landed an ESRB version pre order on Amazon before it came out. Game shot up in price immediately so I just sold it at 155 on Mercari… kinda regret it because I see it steadily going up.
And with videos like this.... this will certainly get expensive
VGP is reprinting the ESRB Final Fantasy Collection and it’s available for pre-order now.
He literally talked about this in the video.
@@vantheman4237 lol, I wasn’t done watching, sorry 🙃
Blaster master looks so fun
Is it weird I randomly have a vinyl soundtrack of Oninaki lol
I didn’t know they released one lol
If you do a NIS American video Labyrinth of Refrain was hard for me to find a decent price. It’s slowly going up
For sure! I had to wait for a VGP reprint to get that one
That's a good point. I bought One Piece on PS5 when it first came out. I wonder if I should double drip on this title. 🤔
He literally said that in the video if you continued watching it
I’m definitely getting a few games that I’m interested in like fae farm and another physical copy of animal crossing I gave my copy to my son lol so I need a replacement and fantasy life once it finally releases there my top must gets
Hope you horror fans bought Signalis on the switch cause it's already out of print and expensive af.
What about Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star?
Lol I actually just got that since Best Buy had it for $10, could definitely see it going up
Whoa! Had me doing double/triple takes Bo. I didn’t know you had a second channel.
Anyway, for a cheap obscure Nintendo published game, I always have a hard time believing they published DC Super Hero Girls.
Yeah that’s a really random one they published lol
Those Wario Ware games went very cheap quick in the UK. I hope they don’t reduce further 😅
They're like £7 in Asda
Oh yes, one of these for nis would be great! Almost seems as though if it says NIS/Nicallis just buy it… lol
Another expensive game is the American version of the DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Torna The Golden Country can cost +95 USD on Ebay due to limited run :(
You can get this for like 35-40 USD on vgp right now. They did a new print run a about 6 months ago and the price dropped significantly
Rip the final fantasy collection value😂 already doing another print
Bro it be cool if you did a LE edition of this video.
I dont see releasing 2 similar games or from the same franchise next to each other as a good strategy, its better to release Prime 4 first and use its hype to sell 2 and 3 after it
Oninaki 85 bucks on ebay... SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE atleast in canada...
Bayonetta is a Sega IP, by the way.
Yep. But Nintendo owns 2, 3 and Origins.
Unicorn overlord is going to be extremely expensive
what about cadence of hyrule?
I don't think it's just JRPGs that go up in price over time. All weeb games seem to get super expensive after their print runs end.
It's because they are niche and don't sell millions of copies
I think Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Switch
Will be
I totally agree with you on Another Code as I have asked around about it at a few game stores and they just NEVER got it.
Samurai Shodown.
Unlimited world red is physical on ps vita
Nah can't wait to October to get ff collection in my country
everything is expensive and we cant tell 10 years into the future on which will be extrememly expensive
Better option: a cheap, big SD card, and Homebrew.
