Have a 2017 Denali XL same problem, dealer covered the driver side replacement but wasn't going to cover the passenger side that crapped out about 3 months later. Followed this video, took me about an hour start to finish and the taillight is working perfectly now. Thank you for posting this!

Where did you purchase the light?

Looked so easy in your video. My soldering iron didn't cut it just melted and I ended up ruining the board. Think I should have used a dremel and cutting disc.

Great Video, worked for me, only comment to those that are trying this for the first time. I soldered the wrong terminal because my piece broke off and soldered to the other side. I was like that's was easy, then I tried the light and it didn't work, so I watched the video again and realized I need to melt the plastic on the upper section a bit more to expose the broken section. I presume this accident was good otherwise I might have shorted the light.

Thanks. Good repair procedure. Using iron to melt plastic good idea.

Anyone that don’t wanna waste time with rebuilding the lights. Go to your GM dealership and tell them you want the revised part number tail light. The tail light is $205 through factory GM. Make sure to tell them you want the revised number. There was a recall on these for the 2015-2016 with the vehicle under 75,000 miles and they changed the light number

Ashraf.... Do you think if the post that holds the board was melted down, Would this prevent the tin strip from snapping?

This worked for one of my tail lights. The other only has brake lights working now; still no parking light. Any idea what’s wrong?

Would really appreciate it if people could put pressure on GM to build better circuit boards in the first place.

Video is awesome and very thorough. How ever I didn’t see I this video until too late. First passenger attempt worked but middle 6 +/- bulbs are still out. Anyone know how to repair this?

Hey, same thing happened to me after trying to fix mine. The middle row went out. Did you ever figure out how to fix this part?

Same with me it was particularly fixed, wondering how to fix it as well.

@@mitchvillemaire8051 I finally fixed mine. After reading through hundreds of comments I finally figured out I had soldered the big gap section together. This causes the middle section of the taillight to go out. Only solder the hairline crack. If you did this go back in and cut the solder back out.
This comment by Tom Maddox help the most
Dude! You just saved me $800! Thank you!
Great video. Explained well. The only thing
that threw me was that the plastic was
attached to the metal on the circuit board at
the point of the hole you used to anchor the
wire, so when I pried up my cut out, it was
pulling on the metal. What threw me was a
small metal "Bridge" appeared to connect both
large pieces of metal. It looked like one end
had cracked off and I figured I had broken the
connection when I pried it up so I soldered
that as well as the main break you show here.
When I tested the light, the middle LED's did
not light up. So I de-soldered the small
"Bridge" and bent it out of the way so as not to
make contact and that did it. I am still trying to
figure out why that piece was there.

@Rodney Austin Thank you! For some reason when I applied 12v to that section I heard a small pop then it worked.. so it must of had a short some where. Since I only fixed the crack... all good now mine is fixed as well.

Do you sell the tail light assemblies/refurbished?

Is amazing we as buyer have to do this crap because the LED strips GMC or Chevy use are very low quality. For an over 60k vehicle? Hahaha there is no shame.

I fixed my tail light a couple months ago and now the middle section of leds is out. The light between the two fix spots. The lower spot appears to have the two tiny bridges separated but when I connect the lowest bridge the section of lights below it go out. Am I in the wrong place?

There are other videos with much better techniques and methods to repair the tail light in one video.
