    I'm 68 years old now and used to do a lot of this in my younger days, Unfortunately I was caught in a roof cave in and my Friends had to dig me out, I have suffered from Claustrophobia ever since and have never ventured into an unknown cave ever since, I even get cold sweats just watching you guys doing this.

      Having my first child 19 years ago made me claustrophobic among other things. I also picked up a bunch of phobias that I did not have until the day I gave birth to my daughter. I used to love dogs, then all of a sudden I'm terrified of them. Idk but wish I did know the science behind what I'm going thru

    The fact the sink hole happened, means there's something unstable happening below ground. It can collapse futher with them in it, plus the ground appears to be saturated with water, further un-stablizing the grounds. Very dangerous exploration, but they are thrill seekers. Good luck.

    • @ahaveland
      @ahaveland 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exhaust gases from fossil fuel power stations and transport increases SO₂ NOx and CO₂ concentrations in the air which accelerates the formation and expansion of sink holes as the acidic rain filters through the rock and dissolves it away.

    I think that cave is much taller than it looks, it's just filled with mud. All the water dropping down those holes is going down further and eroding below the main passage. If I'm right and it keeps eroding a second passage below, it's going to get sketchy walking above

    Having a sinkhole open up under or near my property is a top 5 fear of mine, especially because my house was built only a few dozen feet above the water table next to swampland. I know there has to be a huge wet carved out cave system nearby. If I find an entrance I'll send you guys the coordinates because as much as I enjoy the content. I'm pretty sure that the long worm or snake-like formation is either tree roots that got slowly covered and mineralized, then the root rotted away, or it's what's left of a marine creature's borrow that became crystalized. Either way, it's still cool as hell. People walk over unknown and unseen caves and pits every day in Karst areas, and would never have expected what lies beneath their feet. I live in a State with huge Karst areas with thousands of sinkholes and caves There's a river not far from me that flows on the surface, but then it disappears into a sink, runs underground in a massive cave for a few miles, pops back up, for a short ways, and sinks again and runs for a mile or so, then rises back up and runs on the surface again. Normally when it's dry, it's impossible to recognize, and the rises and sinks just look like ponds, but when it rains hard, the sinks become raging whirlpools, and the rises become fountains about ten to fifteen feet tall. I got to see it in action, and it was awesome. In one square mile on the surface in the area, there are over 2000 sinkholes of various sizes, and it resembles a huge block of Swiss cheese. Thanks for another great video!

    Y'all need to be careful and block that entrance pff to the public. When going down you should take Oxygen. This is so cool i can't get over how smooth n flat the ceiling is. But that is what water does it cuts into stuff this was a very cool find and loads and loads of content down there be careful.

    • @nicotti
      @nicotti 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's on private land, there shouldn't be public around it. If there is, saying, "why are you on my property," while holding a shotgun usually dissuades said public from returning.
      Also don't need oxygen for that type of cave. The air is moving around inside it. Very unlikely to have any dead ends with dead air in.

    Looking at the way the water has eaten the rock, I would test the pH of the water. I would want to look for sulfur deposits in the walls. The ceiling cracks bug me. That looks like northeast AL, by the color of the rock. I miss my days caving!

    I hope you boys are sharp enough not to go downunder when rain is forcasted, The inevitable P Trap will develop in every single spot the the rock roof over your head drops below the ground you are walking on. This happens with every 4 ft in elevation you descend . I cannot stress enought to check forcast for rain . Just go another day if poo up storms are in the forcast

    Are those purple crystals growing on/in the walls? At 3:05, when he goes to zoom in on the coral fossil, I see a purple thing poking out of that same ledge/level.

    The fact you guys saw “albino white millipedes” means they have been thriving down there throughout so many generations they eventually evolved to lose their pigment due to living in constant darkness. I can only imagine how old this cave system actually is, and how deep it may truly go. Super interesting

    My brother has a cave beside his front driveway. It's just one big room. You could totally dig that out. The creek gravel isn't that bad to shovel. Dig just enough to crawl through.
