I don't see why Hamas is charged with anything since the Geneva Convention gives Hamas the right to resist the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, and on October 7th, they were resisting. That was an act of resistance.
I've voiced my - maybe naive - hope before that the reason for the Hamas warrants is to authorise full investigation into the alleged Israeli funding, & also establishing the truth about Oct 7 to put an end to the Israeli lies
Yes, agreed, however… intentionally targeting civilians, and taking hostages are, I believe, both war crimes. At least at the ICJ they will have a fair trial and the opportunity to present their defence. It’s not a foregone conclusion.

However, any war crimes committed by Hamas are being investigated properly by an independent international court, as are any war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces on that day and beyond. All combatants must be held to the same standard. I can’t demand Israel be held accountable for their long and growing litany of crimes without also wanting any possible crimes committed by Hamas to be investigated and punished if appropriate.
There is obviously an immense gulf between the charges against Hamas and those against Israel, and there may well be mitigating circumstances, which will be looked at in court. I can’t and won’t compare what the two sides are doing, as I steal (😁 my iPad just autocorrected ‘Israel’ to ‘I steal’ 🤣😁😆) as Israel’s crimes are clearly of a completely different magnitude from anything we have seen this century.
If international law applies, it has to apply to everyone.

I do hope this can extend to many schools in the UK. Many are complicit in this and some who has championed in protesting about the Ukraine war kept utter silence about the genocide in Palestine.
Good to hear from Mr. Ali and great to get an update of contributions of the ICJP to the ICC. Hope the ICC will move quickly to actual prosecution stages - the Palestinian people are at extreme risk with each passing day. But, Mr. Khan and his team have their work cut out for them.
In 2021, former ICC Chief Prosecutor, Ms. Bensouda, proceeded to investigate Israeli and Palestinian top officials with war crimes but her efforts were stymied. As expected Israel was outraged by the allegations and refused to be involved while the Palestinian foreign ministry pledged full cooperation. My understanding is that Ms. Bensouda was smeared and likely threatened by both Israel and the US. The case seemed to have become cold - no further actions were taken by Ms. Bensouda or the ICC. Subsequently, Israel brazenly continued to not only commit a litany of hideous war crimes and crimes against humanity, but a genocide against the Palestinian people.
How can the international community be assured that a similar fate won’t befall Mr. Khan and his team? How committed and prepared is Mr. Khan and the three judges? Will they move the charges to actual prosecution stages?
Time is of essence. If the ICC team already has relevant high quality evidence and a lot of preparatory work has already been done, surely they should be able to move quickly? Also, because the Palestinian people are at absolute grave risk, surely the ICC will investigate/prosecute Netanyahu and Gallant before they investigate/prosecute any of the three Hamas suspects. To do otherwise, would not only be scandalous, it would be unjust and outright immoral.
