    Yeah, good call not to show remains or close up shots of the ground squirrels. TH-cam took down all of my prairie dog hunting vids and put strikes on that account. TH-cam sucks. Hopefully, someone with deep pockets can start a hunting and shooting version of TH-cam where we do not have to worry about ignorant bunny huggers beyond their uninformed comments.

      Yea, this censorship on censortube sucks! A warning at the beginning should be plenty enough to keep the snowflakes out, that can't handle seeing this kind of thing, and if they go ahead and watch it and get offended, then they're stupid idiot morons who were warned. The little wussies that might cry. BOO HOO! Crazy that they censor hunting videos but have the Budd Dwyer suicide of him blowing his brains out with a .357 magnum, and gallons of blood pouring out of his nose and mouth as he lay there freshly dead. A man innocent of the crimes he was accused of all because of a lying scumbag that should have been charged with Dwyer's death. Apparently that's not too bad to show. Censorship like this is not unlike what the Chinese, or old Soviet government's would do. Communist-tube. Good thing it isn't the only free video sharing service.

    I'd like to see you shoot a .17 HMR or the newer high power .17 cal round. Savage makes a great .17 and it's rather affordable too.

    • @AirArmsHuntingSA
      @AirArmsHuntingSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      17HMR is more expensive than .22-250 if you reload, and the ballistics aren’t as good for longer ranges or high wind.

    • @jakeevans7075
      @jakeevans7075 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How much does it cost per bullet when you reload?

    • @johnnybarbar7435
      @johnnybarbar7435 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      22 varmit bullets can be found for $0.10 usd each or less. Primer and powder varies with brand but I have stocked up on Varget plus 1000's of primers and can reload a cartridge for $0.20 usd or $4 / box of 20.

    • @Physics072
      @Physics072 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Reloading does not really save any money. When you factor in the equipment, all the time needed etc. Its a wash. reloading enables people to shoot custom tailored loads for their gun that is as good as the premium ammo you buy off the shelf. I wonder if Tiger Woods makes his own golf balls? Come on, people should not have to be roped into reloading when they buy a gun to shoot. When you compare ammo compare factory load prices not reloading. You can get HRM and WSM 17 rim fire for $10.00 a box of 50. Can't do that with center fire. For 250 yards and in the WSM .17 rimfire is pretty good for the money. Once past 250 yards then centerfire like 22-250, 220 swift etc. I might get a 204 but that round looks to be expensive so would force me to work on the side reloading which Id rather not do.

    • @Physics072
      @Physics072 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Notice these guys never tell you the hidden cost of reloading. Its a wash. They do not reload themselves you need to buy a bunch of equipment and time.

    One thing's for sure, those V Max bullets in .22-250 to the head are certainly a quick, never knew what hit em, humane kill. Even though Nature is cruel, we don't have to be, and a quick, instant kill is the best. I can't get over how devastating those bullets are to varmints and small game. Makes me wonder if they're secretly putting a little PETN in those cavities inside those bullets. Just kidding, they don't even need explosives with that kind of velocity and energy. That Dassie's head burst like a melon.

  • @warwick3805

  • @kr6dr
    @kr6dr ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you considered using the .204 Ruger? It’s very efficient, using less powder, cheaper bullets and has significantly higher velocities. The low recoil would be better for scope camera use too.

  • @warwick3805
    @warwick3805 ปีที่แล้ว

    55 grain ballistic tip in my 250 would vaporize ground squirrels. Nice on rabbits at 200yds. Bad luck if you want a feed.

    Those Dassie are weird looking critters especially with their formidable looking fangs! I read somewhere that their closest relatives are elephants! What do they taste like?
    Does anyone there shoot the 243 Winchester round? My brother-in-law uses his to shoot both ground squirrels and jack rabbits using 60 grain bullets, and he hunts deer with it using 100 grain bullets. Pretty versatile round. There a guy in Scotland who has a TH-cam channel and he uses a 260 Remington on varmints there. He makes some amazing shots.

    Nice .22-250 it’s certainly an odd caliber, here (in the US) we tend to use the .223 for hunting varmint or just a .22 Magnum. Also what are the laws around having a suppressor in S.Africa? In the US you have to pay $200 and wait till you get a tax stamp to purchase one, is that the same in Africa or is it unregulated?

      More than likely .22, I don't think they can get any bigger calibers.

    Hi from Australia Matt... how's the situation with the anti's in your home town working out? kinda hoping they've let up on you.

      It seems as if they’ve given up, but somebody told me this morning that I’m being investigated for poaching! I doubt it will come to anything, but its pretty sad that they are spending their energy trying to drag down people who to the best of their knowledge are abiding by the law, when there are countless REAL poachers out there killing endangered animals intentionally and with no remorse! It it really messed up - all driven by emotion!
