    I am from Zürich, a friend was with Martin in Skoool, yes. Later Martin has worked in the now legendary music/clothing store Jama Rico. So..i was hours in the store, listen new LP's and talking about music and all other things. Great time the 8o's. Now THEY TRY TO STOLE OUR SOULS.. THAT'S WHY EVERYTHING IS EMPTXXXX!!!

    One VERY important part of their story, was the Hellhammer - Apocolyptic Raids album review, in very influential, Metal Forces Magazine. They used a 10 star rating system. They absolutely destroyed this album, giving it a 1/10 score, going so far as to claim that they “couldn’t even play their instruments…” This, inadvertently caused a huge amount of attention to be placed on Hellhammer: everyone now WANTED to hear this album. Could it really be *this* bad? I was DEEPLY involved in the scene, from around 1980, onward. To say that this was the most exciting time in music, would be a MASSIVE understatement.

      They did the same treatment on Mayhem PFA demo. But well, maybe it is although I genuily enjoy that demo.

      They got it wrong sometimes but MF was the magazine to read back then. I lost count of the amount of times I ran to Shades Records on their recommendations. They were very wrong about Hellhammer though.

    Hmmmm, from what I know, the original US edition of Morbid Tales is 8 tracks long. The EU version dropped the title track and (I think) Dethroned Emperor. All of those tracks were recorded in the same sessions with the same line-up. The Dethroned Emperor release has a bunch of early demos for the upcoming second album.

      He's right, Morbid Tales is an 8-track full-length. Emperor's Return has only 3 new songs, with Dethroned Emperor and Morbid Tales being the same versions as on the full-length. Also, you could've talked about Apocalyptic Raids a little bit more... But that's only complaints about the video.

    • @aaroncoroner5915
      @aaroncoroner5915 ปีที่แล้ว

      Morbid Tales European release was a 6 song e.p., in the U.S. and Canada they added they added the extra tracks from Emperors Return, which is how I first heard it, even still my copy still never had Circle of the Tyrants on it.

    I got familiar with Tom Warriors work kinda "backwards". Started with Triptykon. Triptykons first album is a masterpiece. So heavy that when the 19 minute ending song The Prolonging finally came to an end, I felt like I'd done some heavy work. Truly a juggernaut of an album. Lately I've been listening to the re-recording of Hellhammer-songs as Triumph of Death. Good stuff!

    Triptykon are great but lack the variety and experimentation of Celtic Frost. While I agree with another comment, that Monotheist heads in Triptykon’s direction, at least it broke it up with Drown in Ashes and Obscured, which are my favourites on the album.

    This is a nice review but honestly i feel like this couldve been better and more detailed if you had concentrated on celtic frost alone instead of adding tryptikon and hellhammer. Especially tryptikon deserves an own video.

  • @aaroncoroner5915
    @aaroncoroner5915 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think of Monotheist as the first Triptykon album rather than the last CF album since it shares everything with Eparister Daimones and Melana Chasmata except the lineup. The atmosphere, the song writing, the lyrical themes and the sheer God-Fucking HEAVINESS of the guitars on all three records have little in common with Morbid Tales and To Megatherion. Only real thing connecting them is Tom's vocal. And I'm NOT the biggest fan of Pandemonium.

    Cold lake isnt glam at all .
    You look too much the image .
    The riff you made listen , it sounds like Holocaust .
    Tom vocals werent glam either
    As you may not notice it was a mix between beign more melodic thrashy , whatever Bliztkrieg , Prince vocals and Christian death Influenced vocals , which was In ITP
    Its More a power metal , Nwobhm influenced riffs . I mean how confuse tbis with Ratt , or poison ? Come on.
    Listen again Angel witch , Saxon , Raven , All that ...before some of riffs on Cold lake are quite close .
    I mean Cherry orchards , even at 26 sec , you know that CF , it had balls still behind it , yeah , but have you listened Rose without thorns , Juices like wine , dowtown hanoi ? I don't think ... its Heavy still . Its not as dark or weirdo , but it still elements .
    Come on , maybe its a bit less inspired as transitional but its way Too heavy to be Lumped with Sunset bands .
    Imagine the band in leather and jeans , i think people wouldnt see the album as it was .
    Even thrash fans are as retard ro call Sell out an extreme band returning in a pre Extreme metal form ... it happened tons of time .
    ITP , Cold Lake , vanity Nemesis , Nemesis of power are all connected by Growing musician ship and Heavy metal more old school kind of stuff .
    And i think even visually , musically i think there s an overlooked Prince influence on this era of CF.
    The only fucked up really on Cold lake was the image ( yet if you don't remember , they Had Big hair since Megatherion ... :) , it was a general thing back in 80's ) and the production
    The demos are fucking awesome !
    Heavier , more conviction and dynamic .
    But in a way , i accept Cold lake ad it is , because i think there s kind of derision in it .
    And in the Over the top pushing the boundaries, even it still a better Heavy / power album than some others albums and today albums ,.
    Cold lake package , without lost all his initial mark , To me looks like humorous like the ultimate Tongue in cheek Troll level 6000 towards the narrow , integrist socalledTrve extreme aandthrashs fffan.

    Okay please tell me how Prototype can be utterly without merit with no good songs apart from Tom's comedy rapping and Monotheist is a masterpiece with great songs especially Obscured.
    Obscured is on Prototype! Albeit under the name November but it's the same (great) song.

    In my opinion Apollyon Sun is highly superior than monotheist. Both albums are fresh, insane and well produced and cotains variety kinds of songs. The demos and recycled songs CF are worse and monotheist is a descent comeback but it contains not memorable songs.

    Talk about cringing... 1st Everytime you pronounce Giger's name wrong. Its pronounced with hard G's like Ge-Ger and not pronounced like something that you detect radiation levels with. 2, H.R. Giger and Mr Fischer were neighbors and good friends. This is how Tom/Gabriel was given permission to use Giger's artwork for his albums. There is a documentary on Giger, watch it please!
    Celtic Frost was originally pronounced bu Tom/Gabriel on German television in 84/85 as "Seltic Frost". I tried correcting people myself until I heard and watched it come from his very mouth (Sel-tic Frost).
    Besides these few mistakes I commend your attempt at honoring the man and his bands.
