Into The Pandemonium is an incredible album! Started avant-garde metal (black metal) ...original, heavy and plenty of 'oohs'
Monotheist was the prelude to the coming Triptycon Albums....
Cold Lake wasn't nearly as bad as people think. Just close your eyes, it sounds like a thrash band's last cocaine freakout album before their post-rehab over-produced commercial comeback. They "sold out" way before any other thrash/black metal band, proving that Celtic Frost were ahead of their time in practically every way.
Tom G Warrior blames his girlfriend for Cold Lake . Did she hold a gun to his head? No no no , I get so tired of hearing people blame others for what they do.
Lisa's husband, Andy here. I have to disagree with some of what is said here. Back in the eighties Into the Pandemonium and Voivod's Dimension Hatross totally stand out as the best 'extreme' metal of its time. I agree when I first heard this album I said what the 'f'' is this? Genius, different and ahead of its time, that's what it was. I miss the eighties and these guys were considered as thrash metal then but with the two albums I have mentioned, you can't go wrong if you want to test the boundaries in every sense. I will never own cold lake. I know there is good music on there, but won't listen to ever. So much better in their discog to choose from.
I met Martin Ain in Zürich, summer '86, he was working in a record shop, very nice guy, he had no problem to sign the C.Frost/Hellhammer records
"Into the Pandemonium" is in my top 5 fav albums of all time. It's such a creative album, it's a bit unfocused but that's also why I like it so much. I've never had a problem with the inclusion of a cover or the electronic "Pride", I think it all fits together so well and makes a perfect album for me. #2 is "To Mega Therion".
Morbid tales to me is one of the greatest metal albums
Like I've always said, if "Cherry Orchards" was on "Into The Pandemonium" people would have raved about it.
6. Cold Lake
Always great to see Chris in the co-captain chair for a ranking the albums episode. Thanks to him and to Pete for informative show for someone not familiar with the band.
The moaning vocal style on Into the Pandemonium is a personal tribute to Ross Williams of Christian Death. A masterpiece of an album in my eyes. I also love post-punk and goth and Christan Death, so great.

The impact of Celtic Frost on Therion and so many other bands is immense.
6. Cold Lake (1988)
Chris Alo kills me! I was thinking it as he said it!!! “Golden P….” 😆
