  • An off-the-wall and fun Sci Fi story from the CBS Radio Workshop called "A Pride of Carrots" - or - "Venus, well served." I call it: "Let's Keep Venus between us!" The story presents english words and phrases that may have different meanings for those who live on Venus! All classic cartoon fans will recognize many of the voices, too! This one's from 1957.

As a child mom& dad listened to radio shows from short soap shows for mom and Gunsmoke for dad.
Since TH-cam and others have huge numbers of these shows from "Yours Truly,Johnny Dollar" wonderfully acted and "Gunsmoke" the quickest way of learning how humans act.

I really enjoyed this radio play. Daws Butler and June Foray..... We baby boomers grew up watching cartoons with their voices , such as Jay Ward , and Hanna -Barbera cartoons. I heard Daws Butler's Captain Crunch in this program , and who cannot recognize June Foray's voice? Such talent. This program sounds like a pre- "Fractured Fairy Tales" ala "Rocky and Bullwinkle" parody. I'm sure Jay Ward heard this program and signed them for his cartoons. Check out the radio show "The Stan Freberg" show (1957) to hear Daws Butler , and June Foray in comedic roles , lol.

Alan Reed , was in this program , he was the voice of Fred Flintstone and other old time radio programs , eg" The Fred Allen" show. Bill Thompson was the voice of Mr. Wimple on the " Fibber Mc Gee and Molly" radio show . He was also the voice of " Touche Turtle" in the 1962 , Hanna - Barbara cartoon.
