    Wow! That is the best and clearest "how to" that I have seen on youtube. Great job!

    FYI: This doesnt work on all NC models, my 2013 needed to have the shifter/armrest panel partially removed to reach 2 screws that hold the "side panels". In the video, he simply prys them off with the tool. You will break the panel if your model has the screw attachment points

      There was a mk3, mk3.5, and a mk3.75 of the NCs so it's probably different interior for each one

    GREAT Video! Thanks!Some additional info for others: As mentioned in the video. The cable lengths are pretty tight the first time the stereo is removed. If you or someone else hasn't removed it yet, you will find it easier to access the cables by removing the glove box and reaching around from the back and side.

      @ArisDisc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doubt that you will see this 3 years later, but is there 'slack' on these cables once you get your hands on them? I'm a little confused. Both you and the OP state they are 'tight' first time, but I wonder why and what one has to do to 'loosen' them. What would be the point for Mazda to have them so 'tight' in the first place?

    • @ArisDisc
      @ArisDisc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SolRC Outstanding! An immediate response! Thanks for the 'zip tie' tidbit. Need to know what to expect with my lousy eyes (I just turned 70 last Saturday). I really need to replace the changer. Now that I've researched that removing the glovebox is easy, I'll probably look there first.
      I was a bit puzzled about the cables having no slack, since I would think the factory might realize that the unit may have to be removed at some point, so, leaving a little slack would be a plus.
      One more quick question: Can the plugs be easily reached from the removed glovebox area? Would you suggest unplugging them 'before' attempting to remove the unit? I'll be doing this project by myself, so there will be no extra hands available.

    Thanks! That hidden bolt on the left was my problem.
    Apart from that: for the NC1 2011 and younger you need to remove (or shift) the consule to reach 2 screws that fix the sidepanels, they cannot be removed with just a pry-tool. The rest is alike.

    • @BenDunkle
      @BenDunkle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can you elaborate? I see the two bolts, but no screw... how do I remove/shift the consule (and what's a consule lol sorry for my dumbness)

    • @stapeling
      @stapeling 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BenDunkle I edited my comments, I mixed up the term bolt and screw (non-native).
      The side panels are in 2011 both fixed with a screw that is hidden by the center console (de part around the gearlever and handbrake).
      The radio is fixed (theft prevention I presume) with a bolt to the right and a bit deeper of the two bolts that are shown in the video.
      I couldn't get it out, difficult to reach.

    Hello, could you connect the aftermarket radio dimmer cable to the car? Wich one is it? Wich colour?, i have the same car and i changed the radio to a double din,.. The radio have the dimmer cable but i don't know where to connect. Everything is working ok, speakers, camera, subwoofer, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls by metra axxess, but when i turn on the lights, the screen still very shiny, and it supose that it have not to be that way. Can you help me? Thanks.

    So with the ac being connected to the stereo how do you change the stereo and keep the ac as part of the car?

  • @BaxterTidwell
    @BaxterTidwell 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The reason you couldn't find the driver's side 10mm bolt is that 2008 Miatas don't have that bolt any more. Just remove the phillips screws in the front and pull the radio out. No need to pull out the metal under the steering wheel, except that it makes it easier to route wires if they're going that way.

    I've got the standard 2008 radio, not the Bose. Does the standard radio have any plugs on the back where I can attach a cord for a USB socket, or a cord for an mp3 player?

    • @peacefrog0521
      @peacefrog0521 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - There's apparently a common and inexpensive add-on that plugs directly into the rear of the unit, no mods needed. Gives a 3.5mm AUX that is activated by the MEDIA button on the head unit. Just ordered mine so I haven't installed or trialed yet. But has many good reviews. (No I'm not the seller or affiliated with them)

    The 10mm bolt is probably just for security because the radio is super easy to remove (for a thief) without it. Mine's missing also. I know the threads are M5, but I don't know how long it is, and I probably won't be able to find a 10mm head replacement. But, if anybody knows the exact bolt size for this bolt, please post it. Thanks.

    • @stapeling

      The hidden screw locks and secures the stereo in its bracket. So yes, you need to. The only other way is to disassemble the Miata around the stereo, but the last screw wil be that same one... 😉
