I have a new to me 07 nc, I used this video to pull the original stereo out and plug in an amazon iphone jack in the back. TH-cam music, I have about a thousand songs downloaded, the stereo sounds fantastic.
Looking forward to installing my new radio next weekend. Man! Mazda sure did make this a bunch easier from the NA model. The HVAC controls had massive cables attached, and the cavity where the radio is installed is a nightmare. Messy and cramped. On the NC, because of the modularity, this could be done in minutes, rather than hours.
Nice work! I wish you guys were located in the Pasadena, California area. I have a 2008 Mazda MX 5 Grand Touring model with the original Bose 6-CD head unit, and I'd love to get it replaced with a new Apple Carplay head unit to go with the Bose sound system. Although I may need to upgrade the amp and speakers anyway being that the car is 16 years old.
@@mmartinez3619 I wound up getting an Alpine iLX507 with a 7 inch display along with a module that lets the steering wheel controls adjust the volume level and also switch to the next track. The car stereo installer also used a dashboard kit that made the radio fit perfectly, with the temp control knobs going below the radio. It looks great and sounds amazing!
So I am new at this, watched this video at least a dozen times, used the handy links to order the parts, some took much longer than others to come in. Put all the wires together and installed it only to find out the link for the pioneer radio sent me to a different one. 😢 Think I can order the correct one and just hook it up but just a warning to people that the link here for the radio is not what is on this video.
Can you just use any double DIN head unit, with all the other components in this kit? How difficult is it to make this all work with the Bose sound system? I'm gettin' an NC Miata soon, looking to do this upgrade for sure!
Great video, I have a 2007 Mazda Miata with a Kenwood touchscreen . Whenever I hit a really strong bump, it seems that the whole mechanism pops out. Do you have any solutions to prevent that the guy at the shop said that nothing is broken and doesn’t understand why it pops out. What pops out is the plastic frame that holds the radio plus t the controls. Just the top of the plastic frame pops out then I have to push it back in and I hear a strong snap noise.
Please can you advise when replacing the stereo system The aftermarket fitted beautifully but for some reason my does not ,I do not have the side brackets but is there anything you can advise that will fit the whole unit in without the top slightly petruding on the top of the fitting
Hi, my dealer send me an offer over 2 hours working time to change the radio, from the original mx5 radio to a kenwood 7100dab. Is that time really needed?
Installed the same Crux SWC adapter, using it with a Sony XAV-5500 in a 2008 Miata. The steering wheel controls don't work properly, when I press volume up on steering wheel, nothing happens, but then I press volume up on the headunit and the volume will go up to max. Same thing happens with volume down. Steering wheel mute doesn't work at all.
The head unit I got (and all the others I looked at) require a connection to the parking brake for full functionality since they don't want you to be doing certain things while the car is in motion. I was hoping to see how that connection was made.
I know the title says 2006-2015 but for some reason on the 2011 the side panels are not clipped. I had to remove the console. Could I get away like you did for the side panels? I have to remove the radio since the clips did not work well. I'm using the factory clips.
Yes on both questions. You’ll just need a line converter in order to keep the Bose amp. I just completed my pioneer install in my 12 gt. I used the same crux module he used along with crux converter…..all from crutchfield
Parts linked in the description!
Where is the description? Was it removed? I’m looking for the parts breakdown
Been a long time since I saw a divx logo on anything!

Looks so clean, much better than the OEM
We be awesome if you guys put a wiring diagram for the Miata harness so we can install other kind of stereo not just pioneer. Thank you!
Epic sunburn mate!
Great video. Impressive wiring too. Thanks 👍 😊

Hey there, I just got the same year and model, did you figure out a good replacement?

This is only for NC1. Nc2 and NC3 are different.

Did u find any workarounds?? Or solutions?
In at least the 2010 w/bose there are bolts holding in the side panels, not just clips.

Yeah^

Depends on the radio. Most radios (except pioneer and alpine) can simply be grounded.
I installed this in my 2007 Miata, but the steering wheel controls do not work. Any idea of how to fix this?
Depends on the parts you used, radio used, how you hooked it all up, etc. Lots of variables there.

I did this on my non bose miata but for some reason the sound is extremely quiet. Is this because I need to wire something directly to my factory amp?
I had same problem did you find out how to fix it?
Hi, May I know what's the yellow thing to take out the side clip out? can i buy it easily?

@@ProvoBeastAudio thanks!
How would I use this with the Bose sound system? I just bought a 2007 GT
You’ll need a line converter. Get with crutchfield.
wow nc1 ia really lots easier to take apart vs the nc2-3
Hi - I want to buy a 2010 with the Bose unit. Can I do this mod? Can I get Bluetooth phone with this?

No cd?
The unit we installed has both CD and DVD.
@@ProvoBeastAudio cheers, I couldn't see the slot.
