I liked sixandahalf, jumped on straight after the race at 16/1 before a bookie changed the odds
@@The_Cheltenham_Bandit the 16's was just a rick, barr that was 8/1 top price after the race, that's the price I took. Been steadily supported since but I'd say the 6/1 nrnb with Hills is more than fair, cant beat that price antepost as the last of the 7/1 has gone today. Dont see her bigger on the day and could be half the price and you get the nrnb there with hills.
@@deancrozier7293 There was only a short head between him and lady vega who would be entitled to improve also and I dont get the difference in price between them. He's a Triumph contender for sure, I like the way he travelled, just think he's a bit shorter than he should be.
@@whoppersupper3970 HI mate. Dont generally have many bets through the week, can have several at the weekend depending. Week before last I had 1 bet, same last week, a few yesterday and a few today. I do focus a lot on Cheltenham and the big festivals though.
Not too much to comment on in the recent races - only comment I thought was Kel Histoire was blocked off and had to change direction and then started to stay on, but I'm not sure he was staying on in a manner that made it look like he wants 2 and a half. I read it more like he'd stay on off the fast pace of a Supreme and was maybe staying on just because he got blocked off from having his first run. As you say lots depending on the DRF but I think there's still a decent chance JP goes double-handed for the Supreme. Depends how much he wants to give Mark a ride in the Turners. I've also backed Sixandahalf - beating Qualimita by 12 is a very impressive performance I think considering a couple of other protagonists for that race were very close to Qualimita. Karoline Banbou has an entry in a maiden on Friday - not sure if she'll go but will be interesting to see how much she comes on from that first run. I'm still umming and erring about Saint Lucie. Watched her run in France back and she didn't look totally happy on the heavy ground despite a high knee action suggesting she might prefer it. The form of that race looks pretty shocking as well. The 1st, 2nd and 4th have all come out and been well beaten (think they all finished last or 2nd last next time out) so there's clearly scope to improve but I just have a question mark or two over her and I might wait until after the juvenile race this weekend where Lulamba and Sauvignon are both entered (I'm on Lulamba already, don't even remember backing him to be honest but checking my slips yesterday and there's one there!). There's a couple of other big money purchases not far behind her in the betting for the Triumph that give me question marks as well so at the moment I'm just leaning towards holding off for now. I think it's 8 out of 12 winners of the Triumph have come from that race, another couple have come from the juvenile race on Cheltenham trials day. Sounds Victorius is so slow but is probably just what you need for an Albert Bartlett. I can't get on with 365 so will be leaving him alone. I think there'll be plenty at a decent price on the day to have a go at so not in a huge hurry to get involved. Kaid d'Authie I'm already on for the Supreme. I want to have Ballygunner Castle on side for the Turners I think but the chat about Kopek des Bordes coming from others is putting me off at the moment. I just can't get away from the fact so much went wrong for him in the closing stages of that race he basically had to go and win the race 2 or 3 times and would have won comfortably and looking impressive if it wasn't for that. I think I'll end up backing him, leaving Kopek des Bordes alone and crossing my fingers.
@@adking18 thanks for the comments there, always find them interesting and knowledgable. Broadly agree with most of that and regards Ballygunner Castle I think at the end of the day you have to trust yourself in the knowledge that sometimes you'll get it wrong. I totally agree with what you say about his run and I'm fairly convinced at the min he's 1 of 3 that will go into the Ballymore as hot fav, the other 2 possiblities been Kopek and Final Demand. He jumped better than Kopek and Final Demand has Bartlett possibilities so I'd say he's probably the percentage play, I guess it might be wise to wait until the final decs for the 2m Drf race and if he's a runner there with say Patrick up that would maybe be a little offputting
@@smoking_cheltenham Agree with all of that. Ballygunner Castle's jumping wasn't perfect but he got a good bump jumping slightly left at the first and then the other novicey jumps were when he was being pushed all over by the loose horse so all things considered he held himself together very well. I'm happy to just discount Final Demand for the purposes of narrowing them down as he looks set to go for that Nathaniel Lacy and winners of that: (a) tend not to win at Cheltenham, and (b) have a better record of placing in the Bartlett than they do in the Turners. He's a possibility, but you have to narrow them down somehow and you've got 7 of last 12 winners of the Tattersalls have gone and won at Cheltenham (from 11 of them who've tried) whilst the 11 who went to the festival from the Nathaniel Lacey have produced 1 festival winner and that was Let's Dance in the Mares - it's not a great race for festival pointers.
@Martin-vs1wt Entries for the novice hurdle races aren't official until 21st Jan. I noticed Racing Post only lists him in the possible entries for the Turners at the moment but connections don't make official entries for a couple of weeks yet.
Once they leave Willie they invariably aren't the same. Wee woman down the road had half share in Hurricane Fly then Killultagh Vic. All he home breds were named with Killultagh . One was returned after his days with Willie were over. He was a decent handicapper, she gave it to a local lad who had no problems in tackling any obstacle with the horse. In the end she took it back for fear he would break the lad's neck! He was a real character, was known for showjumping in the dark, bareback and full with alcohol. You couldn't make it up lol
He has a very strong hand! Meanwhile according to Mr Henderson Constitution goes for the Internationals trial at Cheltenham. I can see Anzadam heading in that direction. Cannot see Jonbon or the Triumph Hurdle hope being beaten at Ascot. I can see the logic of Mullins running the mare but not in sending over Energumene. Then again, what do I know?
@@johngreene347 yea didn't expect Constitution Hill to go again before the Festival, in my mind that increases his Champion Hdl chances, the reason I think is it suggests he's proving easier to train this season thus more likely to show his best form. Will be very interesting to see Anzadam again should give us a better idea of his ceiling. Jonbon should be winning but his Cheltenham prep has been his worst performance of the season 3 times in a row I think. I dont know enough of the Triumph horse to say but certainly the market says he wins. Energumene is well suited to Ascot I think although the ground might be going for him. I think Willie was always coming here with him, he prepped in it both years before his Champion Chase victories and wouldn't be one for changing a winning formula I'd say. I dont think either horse will run upto his mark and wont be having a bet but reckon Jonbon will get it done but probably not impressively. All the best John and I'd say you know plenty😊
