2022 king cab sv 4x4, 7/22 build date. Absolutely no problems, 46K miles. Most perfect truck I’ve ever had. No rattles anywhere, power to the moon, built like a tank. Go compare frame and t-case to a Toyota. The Toy is just that- it’s built like a toy in Mexico.
I am a Toyota fanboy but with the transition of all their models to Turbos and Hybrids, the New Nissan Frontier is the only reliable choice with that 3.8 V6 engine. Nissan have something really good they just need to insert that 3.8 V8 engine on every model line up.
@Jay-nc7vk I'll take a wild guess and say that the frontier will creep up in number of sales over the next few years if they keep it around and do t fuck it up by changing a good thing.
Checked mine on my 11 month old SV. Looks like new and gets exposed to some fairly extreme weather here in Nevada. Mine is white. Maybe that makes a difference. Truck has been flawless.
I believe the ripples you see are spot welds under the body sealer. Most newer trucks have this design. Not sure what type of body sealant they use but can almost guarantee it’s not foam. It’s some type of caulking. And it could shrink and cause the paint to crack if it’s not properly formulated for all the conditions a truck might encounter.
@thomastucker5998 it could be welds. Only reason I say it's foam is if you add a roof rack that you drill onto the roof to mount there is foam you have to cut through. Could be some sort of caulking though
Had mine for close to 6 months now, still good on my end. Worse comes to worse I'll get some clear silicone and fill the cracks in when they show. Not sure why Nissan went foam instead of a silicone fill....silicone stays flexible
I have a 22 Frontier base 4x4. Just went out and checked mine and I see nothing out of the ordinary. No cracks or anything. I don’t have a sunroof, maybe the sunroof option is the culprit?
Currently in the market for a new 2024 Frontier and heard about the roof issues but I wasn't sure what it was all about. Thank you for the video! I've also been hearing a lot of issues about the 9speed auto transmission on these 3rd gen Frontiers. I'm seriously having second thoughts about this truck now. Maybe I should opt for the tried and true 2nd Gen Pro-4x years.
I had a 22 now a 24 pro 4x both have been great trucks. Go test one for yourself and don't listen to the Toyota fan boys. Good power, transmission is fine. Although the Chevy looks good also
Yes same issue on my titan. CHECK YOUR ROOF FOR CRACKING!! Its a common problem on Titans also from atleast 2017+. Nissan wont honor it under warranty most of the time, or they end up repainting your entire roof and will crack apart again. Its a total design fault
@CanadianCruisin yep lots of em do, they use the same sealant and design. Mines split on both sides of the sealant on both sides of the cab, along whole length
Just checked the rain gutters on the 24 frontier I bought a little over a month ago. So far nothing major. But my channels aren't smooth like yours. It looks like they have had foam filler on top. That has expanded. Then painted over. But the paint over it doesn't have anything other than hairline cracks. Barely noticable. Perhaps they did a quick fix at the dealership. Prior to purchase. But will definitely watch this very closely.
I have owned a couple Nissan trucks. Good solid motors but this along with some other issues is leading me towards a used Tacoma next. Non turbo of course. Too many people I know have had zero problems with their Tacomas. Nissan most definitely cuts corners in areas which could also be a part of their bigger problem
Toyota further in the game than Nissan. I have owned both brands and my nod are towards Toyota. Everyone so whiny over the turbos on modern Toyotas. Oddly, I work with people with over 175,000 miles on OEM turbos and no issues. Keep up with oil changes on time, air filters, etc. Nissan right now is in bad financial shape. Real bad.
