I really liked how you edited in footage of the exact Titan kit he was talking about, and even changed certain selections to prevent any confusion of what stuff people should buy. I've watched tons of car content and people always talk about their mods and the market is so complicated that it's really hard to find what people are talking about or be confident that you are buying the right thing. Usually I would have to look through dozens upon dozens of forums/reddit to see what people say, and we all know how ANNOYING that is. Great video!
Thanks for having the ADO guys on. They have been great for the Nissan offroading community. I always see them replying to people in the forums, answering questions even when there isn't a sale to be made. I've picked their brains for a long time before I ever bought anything from them. It's nice what they've done for for a brand that doesn't have the best aftermarket support when compared to Toyota or Jeep.
Thank you for showcasing Nissan here. It’s unbelievable that they thought so well ahead that these different trucks underpinnings can be swapped out so seamlessly.
If you really want to see a cool Frontier, Z1 Off-Road is building some of the best, and is working on a roots supercharger for them. Frontiers are pretty awesome trucks for the price.
Ford ranger will also prove to everybody you don't need to spend alot of money for offroad trim bs just to get difflocker just don't forget to tick the box when ordering🤣
Awesome all dogs off road is on tfl these guys do so much for Nissan owner's i have a titan swapped 2nd gen frontier myself. And z1 has a supercharger coming out for the 3rd gens.
I’m really impressed with this gen Frontier. I have a 22 S 4x4 and for what it is, it’s pretty much perfect. Would love to see a video of all base model 4x4 midsize comparison.
I’m definitely not a fan of Nissan passenger cars and crossovers. However I’ve liked the trucks and older suvs and I’d love to have a Frontier for my daily.
It's nice to see a couple of Frontiers showing offroad prowess without the front diff exploding like with the Tacoma. The engines also seemed a lot less stressed. That Tacoma you could really hear the engine working hard.
When people say Nissan trucks haven't changed, 7:55 explains it all. They've purposely used the F-Alpha platform for 2 decades to make it as modular as they can for generations to come and it's held it's ground very well. Toyota just started doing something similar with TNGA-F so it's kind of cool to see them adapt.
I've taken my 2023 pro4x on KO2's up some pretty hairy stuff. Been loving the new frontier, best value on the market period in the segment. Hauls all my gear and when I commute in it I've been averaging 23-24.5 mpg.
Love my 2020 with the second gen body style but the upgraded drivetrain. Added a 2-in lift front and back with 33s. All the capability I need for what I do. Headed to Moab right now.
In keeping with the underrated Nissans, you should review a pair of R51 Pathfinders, one that has a few mods like a lift/tires to one that is built with many mods like differential lock, skid plates, winch, snorkel, etc.
I didn't even wait for the new Tacoma. I knew it was going to be a turbo 4 cylinder and I wanted a NA V6, so I got a 2022 PRO4X and I live in Canada so its also a king cab. I put the ASFIR skid plates on mine, and the ADO RCKilla lift. I do mild off-roading occasionally, and my setup is more than capable for what I do. I'm happy with it
Nissan trucks have been great for off roading for a while. They're just not popular because they don't have a Jeep or Toyota badge. Doesn't make them any less capable. I love seeing the look on people's faces when they get to the top of a trail with their Wrangler on 38's and see my R51 Pathfinder on 33's sitting there. I'll be swapping out my suspension lift here soon, just purchased the ADO 2" setup last night. Just spend half a week in Moab doing trails that are considered to be on the difficult side (probably not as much for anything on 38"+ tires) and despite some skid plate damage, we conquered them all.
Case one of my friends was looking to but a 2024/2025 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter here in Canada ,he figured it would be his last truck since he is retiring in the next 1 or 2 years and he got an MSRP from a dealer of just over $86,000.00 CDN ,a TRD PRO was only $80,000.00 6k less, well he had to think about and told me i love the truck ,not the price , he did not want an F150 and is now reconsidering it, he can buy it for less money and have a front locker installed at the dealership and still come out cheaper, all i could say was wow 👍 great video Nissan builds a good truck
Wow, I didn't think nissan enough bright shiny toys in it for TFL spend anytime with it. Considering you can buy a Pro4x for under 40 right now with discounts, makes it a very smart buy. It was also cost the least to own to 15000k
Frontier is what I'd choose id still like to see a Nismo kit versus a TRD at a similar price point as the Nismo full suspension lift/ leveling kit with similar tires to level the playing field as Nismo off-road is a division to compete with TRD division but everyone takes the stock pro 4x & puts it up against TRD kitted truck I'd like to see apples to apples Nismo off-road vs TRD in a bang for the buck as it seems people tend to try to protect Toyota & put a TRD with 10k plus in TRD upgrades against a non Nismo upgraded truck I believe the results will be very interesting
So, All Dogs Off Road themselves did a video where they compared front suspension travel for various shocks on the stock frontier platform as well as an extended travel shock with their aftermarket upper control arm to prevent coil bucket contact and they got a little less than 6.5 inches on the stock Pro4-X Bilstein. They got 6.5" exactly on a Bilstein 5100. 6.75" on a Koni 82 and 7.25" with a modified upper control arm and a Fox extended travel shock. And the supposedly mighty Titan swap netted a spectacular total of, umm, yeah, 7 inches. Now, there is more potential than what the guy in the video showed but part of the problem is that the mounting point for the shock on the lower control arm is pretty much in the exact same spot on the Titan lower control arm as it is on the Frontier so the motion ratio is the same. You have a longer radius by a total of 1.5 inches per side so you can go a little more droop with the right UCA and longer shock but it really isn't the same as a true long travel suspension designed to make the most of the extended lower control arm length. Yes, if you do it just right, all things being equal you might get an honest 8 inches of wheel travel versus the 7.25" you can get from an UCA swap and extended travel shock. On ADO's website the complete Fox extended travel kit is $2350 while the kit for the Titan swap is $3200 not including the lower control arms and the CV axles as well as a few other needed parts. You decide if it's worth it to you but if you start measuring the actual performance of a lot of aftermarket suspensions you'll find that most of them offer little more than a different feel but not always a lot of extra performance if not sometimes decreasing performance. For example people put heavy duty springs on their trucks and limit the up travel and think they have improved the truck. They have in a way but not in wheel travel. It's always compromises.
ive got mine with a dana 60 rearend and a dana 60 straight axle its a 2023 coil over suspension no leafs. 37 tires and 24 and a half tire travel. rides better than stock. was a little costly but worth it.
I am a former Tacoma owner and now a Frontier Pro4X owner. The Nissan is by far more comfortable for me. That transmission is so much better and I no longer drive with my knee resting on the door or smash my head on the roof getting out 😂
You better get an oil catch can for the Frontier as it's a GDI engine without port injection, so the intake valves may need periodic cleaning. I would be considering buying one if they had added port injection.
I own a 2023 Pro 4x with a catch can and also a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport with a catch can. Regular oil changes, and intake cleaning no issues. My Genesis has 195k kms and drives like new
I'll just say that I'm still a big fan of the frontier! For the price of a fully loaded Tacoma TRD pro or a nison / ranger tremor that cost at 56-70k you can get a pro4x or a 4x4 at around 42-4000 and still have any $ 10,000 left to upgrade, and modify it as you see for and as you can afford it! I want to see more!! Hey Tommy @tfl y'all should get a frontier 4x4/ pro4x get it and. upgrade it and then compare it against a TRD pro/ rather tremor/ raptor, trail boss or a bison
I never really understood offroading just for the sake of offroading. If I'm offroading its driving on the lake ice and blasting trough big snowdrifts to go icefishing or swamped out beaver blocked roads for hunting. Going over rocks and trails like this just for fun looks like banging up your truck because youre bored
Titan swap on Nissan Xterra was great. But you will lose a little steering and gas. Other than that, if you don't mind those small problems. Then it's for you.
The biggest downside is that you cant fit a true 33" tire. You can get close like a 32.6", but that's maxed, the tires in this video is maxed out I think. Its kind of the same problem as the last generation Tacoma. I guess it depends how hardcore your going to go with your offroading.
@@orodos I watched videos where they had to cut away part of the metal body, not as bad as the old Tacoma where they had to bash in a major body mount, but still. I do like these trucks though and they finally upgraded the screen and cameras. Its definitely a valid competitor in the segment.
@@jeffk464 I used to watch instructional videos on how to put 35 inch tires on a Colorado by trimming the fender. It was funny how close to the cab they were cutting. Wish there is a no maintenance long travel kit with about 2-2.5in lift. I was trying to see if I can use Tundra UCA and LCAs, but didn't find details. Total Chaos uniballs seems to need lot of maintenance to avoid squeaks. I need factory quiet ride and comfort.

@aaron… Never owned a Tacoma or Tundra. Had a Corolla 30 years ago and my family members own a GR Corolla and Lexus products. I don’t. Owned mostly Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, BMW before. Currently I own a Jeep Wrangler, RAM 2500, F150 and a GMC 3500 Sierra so I guess based on your comment you lacked the thought process. My comment was based on research I did before I purchased my last truck. I considered current Toyota and Nissan trucks. I would not buy current Tacoma or Tundra. The Nissan Titan is ceased to exist this year. I would rather buy a current Frontier than a current Tacoma. However the guy asking the question has a very recent but PREVIOUS generation Tacoma. I would NOT give that up for a Frontier. That Tacoma worth its weight in gold. Honestly, I am thinking that in a few years I will trade in my F150 for a 2022 clean Tacoma to keep it forever.
I recently compared the new Taco and Frontier. The Taco felt modern and much more responsive than the Frontier. And even more so over the 3rd Gen Taco. The Frontier felt old and dated. The interior wouldn't feel modern by 2005 standards.

TFLoffroad this is one of my favorite videos you guys have done. I loved the content and the format of this video. Just hanging out and getting the perspective of someone else in the off-road TH-cam space. Please do more videos like this with other companies in your space.
ADO off-road will be where I’m getting the lift kit for my Frontier.
Nah, rangers are pretty trash.
Nissan Frontier is a great truck platform to build upon, best part is it is still normally aspirated V-6
Thanks for doing different brands that people might not have thought about! Great video.
Ado was the correct company to pick with nissan off road stuff
I chose the Frontier over the Tacoma for the NAV6 and lower price!
Bro is ready for the next flood in those shorts
Getting Lt Dangle Reno 911 vibes
Seems like he always wears flip flops too, even in their part swap demo videos. Seems like a really good company.
Great company with fantastic products. Chad even answers the phone and walked me through an issue I had installing their RCKilla lift.
😂😂😂
I just off-roaded my Frontier SV 4X4 with regular street tires and it did awesome!
That IFS flex on the titan swap is great. Long travel ln a budget.
I've taken my 2023 pro4x on KO2's up some pretty hairy stuff. Been loving the new frontier, best value on the market period in the segment. Hauls all my gear and when I commute in it I've been averaging 23-24.5 mpg.
Great informative video on Nissan builds. Loving the flip-flops 😂.
Love all dogs off-road! Just bought their upper control arms for my frontier and I love them
Love my 2020 with the second gen body style but the upgraded drivetrain. Added a 2-in lift front and back with 33s. All the capability I need for what I do. Headed to Moab right now.
Thanks for this video. Shows what my '22 pro4x is capable of with the right lift. ADO is great.
I'm on my fourth Frontier and loving it
Enjoyed this! George did a great job letting the truck do its thing and figure it out.
Have ADO 2" koni kit on my 22' with 285/70's the ride is so nice.
In keeping with the underrated Nissans, you should review a pair of R51 Pathfinders, one that has a few mods like a lift/tires to one that is built with many mods like differential lock, skid plates, winch, snorkel, etc.
No complaints with my build as of yet. Never had any issues on the trails so far.
Love the ADO guys and TFL, great to see this little video. Plan to get one of their lifts for my 3rd gen eventually.
Getting mine in 25! Love this truck!
another benefit of the nissan is its just a plain ole V6. no hybrid or turbo. simple is good.
for some reason, this made me miss my Op corduroy shorts from the 80's..
History always repeats itself! Wait until they make a comeback
Kase, great video! Glad to see Tommy let you go on your own. I had not thought about the Frontier as a capable alternative.
Great video! Love seeing modded Nissans on the channel!
I'm happy with it
Chad, your sister wants her shorts back 😂😂😂😂😂
My stock 22 P4X is great off road. Locker works good, great on road too
That Titan swap is dope. Think this video definitely convinced me to do that on mine.
I can wait for the next Gen’s Tacoma and Frontiers. They are going to be even more better and hopefully an all electric option.
One of the better unique reviews. Well suited for the channel
Loving my 22 frontier pro 4x. All dogs and z1 offroad are the best for aftermarket parts for nissan. Love my truck
Titan swap has been around for years, glad it still living on
Muy buenas camionetas!!
Saludos!
Buena vibra ✌️🔥
Good to see affordable upgrades on anything. You spend a ot for a extra 10% improvement in components.
Would be great to see if you guys could put the frontier pro-4x against maybe a ranger Fx4 and maybe one more like Colorado Z71
That's rad, Do you have IG? We want to see this.
@@z1off-road i do not ill keep this post. ill try to set one up this weekend when off work and post it. ill send you my IG when i get it set up.
My Genesis has 195k kms and drives like new
I love Frontiers, and had one that never let me down, but stock they are not on the Tacomas off road level
Holler at Z1 Off Road for these trucks. They have the largest selection of suspension, interior and drivetrain parts.
It gets you to places you would never see otherwise.
Titan swap on Nissan Xterra was great. But you will lose a little steering and gas. Other than that, if you don't mind those small problems. Then it's for you.
Highly recommened Alldogs Offroad!
The biggest downside is that you cant fit a true 33" tire. You can get close like a 32.6", but that's maxed, the tires in this video is maxed out I think. Its kind of the same problem as the last generation Tacoma. I guess it depends how hardcore your going to go with your offroading.
Guys fit 35’s on these trucks with a little trimming. No different from any other midsize on the market.
They couldn't go any bigger because the front axle was too close to the cab but the newer GM trucks have the axle moved forward. Nifty City makes an upgraded head unit for the older Navara/Frontier.
cool tire size, didnt know 255/80/17r existed. could be viable for lifted grand cherokees someday.
Love All Dogs Off-road!!
I've always loved Nissan. My first car was a truck. My 1986 Nissan hardbody. I now own a 2016 NV 1500 cargo van for my business. 86,000 trouble-free miles so far. It's a dam shame they stopped building the NV van and Titan truck. I've always preferred Nissan over Toyota. I think it's a better value. Toyota is chocking right now with major quality issues. Hope Nissan comes back strong 💪
I love my taco but if I was forced to buy a truck today 4th gen taco vs these new gen frontiers, and couldn't get a manual, I would definitely buy one of these or a ranger.
Love the frontier and my only beefs with it are the low resolution cameras and no log beds although I’ve heard the latter may change for 2025
you could always get a long bed on the frontiers, they did add the long bed to the Pro4x for 2025.
I have an Armada and it has that crappy camera as well.
I like the 4x4 flip-flops
hard core.
I really wish TFL/James do a video what maintenance needed for a long travel kit on a 4Runner. In my previous 4Runner I dislike greasing my UCAs every oil change/ 5K miles.
These guys KNOW Nissan!
A couple of great trucks. Good to know bargains still exist in the midsize truck market.
Always love the underdog truck.
Love my 18 Titan pro 4x. Those new frontier are tempting. But i bought my Titan loaded for what they want for a stripper frontier now. Both nice trucks but nah. Next truck will be another Nissan. They are by far the best value. Excellent trucks.
I plan on getting one in the next 12-18 months
Gen2 20-21 frontier with the new motor and tranny and a Titan swap is the perfect budget way to go.
I have a 21 TRD OR Tacoma I’ve gave serious consideration considering about trading out for a Pro 4X.
You wouldn't regret it.
You will regret it down the road.
@is6566 lol you are a tacoma guy I'm guessing. No thought process, just action.
Im not a Nissan guy but that Titan swap is pretty awesome
