Magic the Gathering will always have a place in my heart, but I also love exploring new TCGs. I started playing games in college after years of failing at sports and have been addicted ever since.
Pokemon started the craze and addiction - moving me away from baseball cards and into the world of constant organization.

LOTR got me interested in collecting Magic again, after maybe 15 years away, but something about it after opening a few boxes turned me off and I cooled on the idea. Then I discovered Sorcery, and I am happy as a clam.
I like making set collections. I have full sets of ELD, WOE, LCI, and ONE (but only nonfoils, and not including extended arts or borderless or showcases). I also have sets for WHO and PIP (but they only required purchasing the Commander decks lol).
I do have a complete set of LOTR (both LTR and LTC). Every card in every treatment (except no serialized because I don’t care about serialized cards). Over 2000 cards, including a couple alt arts of Sauron and Gandalf that you got from the Regional Champs and Pro Tour (that go for about $1500-1700 each). Very fun (and expensive) collecting that master set.
"traded in for Sorcery" 👍🏻
I'm the same as the previous commenter that I got back into Magic again because of LOTR since the early days of the 90's . Although once I get started I can't help myself. I have finished master sets of AFR, LTR, CLB, LCI, and am working on PIP. I also recently finished my NM+ set of the Dark. I've always been a set collector more than a player, which I know is a dying breed in the modern era...
check your bulk for those black bordered 7th edition foils!!
I am currently trying to master set a lord of the rings set. Missing about 25 cards to complete. I think its a popular one to do
I bought a foil 7th Edition Llanwar Elves before I realized 7th edition was super coveted. I knew I really liked the old foils, but have since become and 7th edition fiend.
Do you consider a master set to be one foil and non foil of every treatment? Just wondering because I hear both that it has to have the foils too
Yeah!
No credit for finding the llanowar elves? Cool.
So weird that someone that would have set collected because they think those sets are so cool would trade in since 95% of the cards are worthless as far as trade in would go. Even if they left the game why wouldn't you just keep it since you're only getting money for a dozen of the higher cards
no one buys sets. Collectors buy singles to complete sets, but that's just for fun.
No credit for finding the llanowar elves? Cool.
What do you mean? The person who traded it in is getting store credit. He just said mp so it's probably 50 bucks instead of 100
