I'm an old guy and I'm enjoying the heck out of my '23 Premium! I opted for the manual with moon roof and Harmon Kardon accessories. I really wanted the Limited, but I knew that alcantara interior with its directional changing nap would drive me nuts! I live in upstate NY and have to deal with "lake effect" snow, so all-wheel drive is a must. Funny thing, I've always been intrigued by the WRX but found it to be a little less refined for my taste. So, when this "new" design came out, I jumped on it. So far, no regrets! Oh yeah, I traded my 2014 "Countryman S All4" and got the WRX at invoice ... end of July, 2023.

I ordered mine a few days ago. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been a WRX admirer since I was a kid, but never had the means to get one of those. Now being a dad, and after taking care of my family's core needs, it finally felt like I can afford one, haha.
Not planning to sell this one. Might as well keep it for a long time. It's a bit pricey in my country at 57k USD, and one can buy so many great cars for that price, but childhood dreams are priceless.

I don't regret my purchase even after a short 5,000km ownership. I love how it feels, drives and absolutely love how it looks inside and out.

Great to hear, man! I'm supposed to go Tuesday to pick up my 23 Premium in Black. It's coming from the factory with the STI Short Shifter and the piano black LED Fog Trim along with a couple of other goodies that I could leave or take, but they're on it so it is what it is. All told, I talked them down about $3500 on it so I feel pretty good about that.

@@Gonin60 thanks man. I know there are other cars that are better on paper, but I’m not willing to pay over MSRP for a vehicle just to be even more upside down in it. I love your content and how you’re pretty open about cost, including travel to get a car or ship it, finding the right car even if it means going to get it or shipping it, etc. I’m driving about 7 hours to Tampa for mine, but it’s a better deal than I could find locally, and I’m not settling for a color or feature set I don’t love just to save a few hours in the car.

@@teke237nope. Sticker on the car was $37.5k, and they had about $3.5k in add-ons. They were a mix of factory options and dealer-installed options, some of which I wanted, some I didn’t care to have, so I told them I wasn’t interested in paying for some of them as I wouldn’t have ordered a car with them and if they wouldn’t drop the price on those, I’d just custom order a car (this one was REALLY close to what I would have ordered anyway). They took $2k right off the sticker, and then gave me another $1.5k in discounts on the add-ons.
I’d never pay a penny over MSRP for a car. Ever. I don’t need or want any car that badly. This one was definitely under sticker, not including taxes and all that jazz, which I’d have paid regardless of what car it is so I don’t consider those in negotiations for the most part, but do consider them in the overall price of the car and how my payment will look.

A little history of my Subaru experience: back in 2005, I bought a 2003 Wrx. The WRX was relatively new to the states, wrx first came to the states in 2002. 1 year later i bought a 2005 STi. In 2012 I bought a 2012 WRX. I also bought a 01 2.5 RS. So I have lots of experience with the wrx/sti platform since 2005 and now.
So my problem with the Wrx/sti platform is this, we had a 7k rpm redline, then 6.5k, now 6k. 😭
Subaru use to have these quirky designs, now they look like a corolla.
The platform is now half ass to me. I bought the new Supra instead. I’m not going back to Subaru until we get a STi where it can compete with the type R.
Wrx use to be $24k for base, now it’s $32k. $32k use to be STi prices at MSRP. 🤦‍♂️

3k mile oil changes is definitely a safe bet. If you’re running conventional oil. On synthetic if you’re just driving on highway not banging through gears it would be a waste to change it at that interval. And keep an eye on all fluid levels. Don’t give the engine a reason to off itself lol. Lastly you know your car heats up faster when in motion right? There’s no reason to wait 3 minutes you’re just wasting gas

I test drove a couple last spring/ summer. I really want one, mostly as a winter ride. I was even considering just selling the Widebody while the price was so high. But to be honest, the Wrx felt like a toy compared to the Scat pack. It did pull much better than expected. It's fast, but still felt cheap--compared to my car. Since you're one of the few people on TH-cam, if not the only one, that has owned both the Challenger Scat Pack with a manual and the new Wrx with a manual, I was wondering how they compared to you? Would you have regretted trading your scat pack for this Wrx?

To get any better performance per buck is too expensive it's bmw m2 like 60k used so the performance u get handling from this car for 30k u do need wider rims and it'll handle the same as 100k bmws n some near supercar handling if u add coilovers and more mods.
