hey i really like your video, but can you add the subtitle so i could understand what are you just say because sometime i have wonder about it. thank you :-)
In this video you can see small AC units on the walls and you can hear them whirring away. They look like small units meant for smaller areas but there are 3 of them that I saw. I don't know how well these would work but I noticed there was a blanket covering the entrance which suggests that the heat is easily sucked out of the store from people opening the door. Also North Korea is known to have power outages often so there would be times where these AC units wouldn't work and there would be no heating at all like you said. But of course there are alternative means for heating that don't require electricity such as kerosene, but I really don't know that much detail about North Korea. When it comes to people wearing coats on the inside I think that would be normal for regular shoppers but for the employees I'm guessing they feel cold inside of the stores because the small AC units aren't effective or their jobs require them to go outside or be in cold areas of the store such as freezers considering it is a food store.
That looked like a really busy food store, not. There is lots of information about NK and Jaka Parker shows a lot. It really is a sad situation really.

He is foreigner, they have separate stores for "privileged". That is one of the measures NK started some years ago with ultimate goal of obtaining hard currency from foreigners, tourists, embassy workers etc etc.
To me the most interesting part of this is the fish in the tank next to the 1 he buys from. I'm curious about what species of sturgeon they are ? Had 1 in a tank myself for a couple of years and they are neat critters.
That might be true but he paid his bill in a combination of USD ($4), Euro (€1), and Choson Won (₩4000). He didn't have enough USD so he gave them $4 USD, then tried to pay the rest in Euros (€1.45) but only had a €1 coin, so he gave them the €.45 balance in North Korean Choson Won (the ₩4000 he gave them), so they obviously have access to local Won.
They look up conversions and do the math on calculator. Not that hard to imagine them doing. A lot of people in the us still do that. An 'old school' calculator is nice to have instead of using a calculator app on the pc.
This place is interesting how its shielded from view outside. Clearly he has access to products and stores that the residents don't for whatever reason. He indicates that foreigners and diplomats can get to many things others can't. On the flip side though, the people walking the streets and working don't look to be deprived. Hard to say from videos but...they are living no problem. Less police in the streets than you see in america and very low crime so...hard to say it's so bad really. Just weird versus our way of life. If you were born into that though, you probably wouldn't think it was bad at all.
Pyongyang is a wealthier more well off part of the country. Where people live mostly normal lives. It's the country side and poorer villages where all the human suffering is. That's why tours don't go through there, you mostly stay in Pyongyang, that's what the state wants you to see.
thats because this is the privileged part of North Korea. the people in this video probably aren't starving badly like people living outside the capital city.

All the more reason to conclude that these are setups. These "privileged" stores are actually, tourist stores. If they were simply for privileged individuals (not sure how anyone can think that a government can determine something like that legitimately) you would still see some North Koreans shopping. There's clearly an extreme lack of resources and basic necessities.
Yeah, I'm not suggesting he's in on the ruse. Only that the situation is completely setup. I'm not exactly ruling out the possibility that he knows but that wasn't my point either.
@@michaelroberts7676 It's not a setup, it's just a store targeted at privileged individuals. I'm sure there's a store targeted at rich people in your country but you wouldn't say that it's a setup, don't you?
So crazy that the stores are always empty. I would think the world was about to end if I went to the grocery store and it is only 2 cars in the parking lot and only employees in the store. And wow!! That is absolutely fresh fish!!!
It is a shop for diplomatic personnel, not local population. You can even see the E65 BMW (which is, in fact, old junk in Western world) in front of the shop. Never a local person driving it.
Behind that district I've always noticed giant private estates. Can you confirm if this is true? They are in a wooded area. You can see the houses from satellite.
These places are all owned by the government and these women are picked just because they're pleasant to look at to do these service jobs. A "privilege" shop in NK just means you have the privilege of not having to live like rest of the countries population does. It's pretty interesting when a "privilege" there is just doing regular stuff anywhere else in the world.

"Yeeeee sih NURUL mah" 😭😂🤣🙏
WTF
This guy was probably hired to do these videos there's no way he can be doing this for this long
TAC OPERATOR 17 STINGRAY The only reason they allow foreigners to NK is to shoot such propaganda videos. Most of them don't even realize.
TAC OPERATOR 17 STINGRAY no he was not hired by the nk government! He's just sharing his vlogs with us PERIOD.
The elites in the capital of North Korea are just average middle class people in other countries, kind of sad when you think about it.
