    Your macro shots are incredible, and really shows Orients attention to detail at its best.

      Thanks my friend! The macro lens can make brands multiples of the price look bad. Orient's finishing is incredibly well done for the price.

      I’m considering this as my first watch as well. Just concerned about it’s size. I have a 6.5 inch wrist. But man do I love this watch.

    Just when I thought of buying it what it seems a nice looking watch, orient always dissapoint me with their too large case sizes for small wrists! Wish this was either 38mm/39mm with lug to lug 44mm

    i bought the black case and the steel case with the dark green face. took both apart and put the green face in the black case like it should have been done at the factory. perfection..!

    Loved the review so much I purchased one for my own modest collection. The defender 2 punches way above its weight. Accuracy of the movement is reasonable, the look is fantastic, and the super-luminova used by orient has improved markedly. It is easy to read time at night and the light lasts throughout the evening. Legibility is fantastic. The date window is clear and easy to read and the day of week dial is a nice touch. For triple the cost of this watch, you’ll be hard to find a better watch. I have a larger wrist so the 42mm size is not an issue. This watch (and the Kamasu) has made me rethink keeping some of my more expensive pieces and trimming down my collection considerably. Great review as always. You’re always on point and the efficacy makes your videos a pleasure to watch.

    Great review Teddy. Thank you. I've gone from zero Orients to two in a very short time. I got a flieger style quartz with a busy dial and a Bambino. I'm just checking the love that the Defender 2 is getting on the channels. That certainly does have a kind of stealth military vibe about it. Thank you from England. 🙋🏽‍♂️👍⌚

    I've had this in black for 6-8 months, my first watch. Slapped it on a black NATO with grey stripes. So many good things going on with this watch. Simple, clean dial. Day wheel + date window is a cool combo. No "Water Resist" on the dial. The original Defender has a lot of quirky features, like 3:30 crown, 6:00 date window, and the dial is arranged differently. The Gen II is a bit more standard but still very unique.

    Bought this model before I saw this video. This watch fills a blank in my collection nicely. I especially like the "continuous" second hand sweep and the fact that you have a manual winding option. I don't mind winding daily at all since I have a moderately-sized collection and dislike having to reset automatics that require daily wearing to keep running. Note that even with a wrist size of 7" I found that the supplied strap is too long. I immediately ordered a replacement strap of similar material and color that fits my wrist. Good quality as Orient is owned by Seiko Epson, a Japanese watch brand.

  • @bestvaluewatches
    @bestvaluewatches 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very interesting watch without a doubt!
    I think the addition of the red tip on the second hand and 24 hour subdial really adds a nice contrast to the dial.
    I’m also a total sucker for watches that feature a black coating. It provides a look that is one of a kind and can make a watch feel more “stealthy”.
    I like how the hour markers on this watch are big enough to offer great legibility, but also don’t seem out of place or too large.
    It seems at this point orient has such a wide variety of designs, if one is not to your taste you most likely will be able to find one from within the catalogue that is to your taste and fits your style!

    There's a lot of potential for Orient to take the market by storm... So long as they don't get crazy with the prices. A field watch like the Seiko SRPG27/29, a GMT...

    Great review on this piece. Very nearly picked this up several times, but something else shiny always caught my eye. However, thanks to you, I'm now looking at this version in black versus the cream/tan version. The semi-skeletonized hands really work well on this version. I really appreciate the excellent camera work in your videos.

    Awesome review, thanks for doing them as always. Quick question on dimensions - I've generally seen it listed as a 42.4mm case diameter and a 49.4mm lug to lug elsewhere which is a little larger than what you have. Just wondering if you measured it yourself for the video? Small differences I know but I'm a smaller-wristed guy so every bit counts!

    Seiko/Orient needs to get with it. No sapphire, no buy. This watch is sweet. You can get a sapphire dirt cheap. There is no reason to not use sapphire in general. I like this watch, but wouldn't buy it without sapphire. No sapphire is so past it.

    I love the the (very similar) day/night Orient dress watches. I'm just worried they'll look way too big on my tiny (just under 6") wrist since the case size is 41.5mm. Anyone have one of these and have any insights on how they fit on small wrists?

    • @oloyolo6711
      @oloyolo6711 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My wrist is pretty small and the watch still looks great. My only issue is the nylon band strap sticking out too far and going slightly over the top of the watch face since my wrist is small and I have to tighten the band a decent bit. A solution would be getting a different band or tucking in the strap (which I don't like the look of). Overall though, I really like the watch itself.

    I like the watch, too bad that the back part of the hour and minutes hands are too long and obtrusive over the round dials. Those hands should not have any “tails”, big mistake on the design, otherwise it would be an amazing watch!

      It's outrageous, isn't it? Just because other minorities ( or just 1?) have been given more focus the gingas want their's too.
      I actually think Mr B is utilizing lighting & hair dye to cover an unsavoury truth ( understandably).I'm equal opps. , as long as the gingas accept their colouring reflects their higher % neanderthal DNA.
