    Thanks a thousand. in less than 15mins we took off cluster, loosened bracket to adjust my bars on my 21 RGS back into position and put it all back together tighter in better position. First time hubby has helped wrench my bike. Steve your videos have helped me do so many things at home saving Thousands in labor.

      So glad to hear that!!! thats what its all about! Amazing how moving those bars just a tad makes a huge difference isn't it?! And good on your hubby for getting out there and wrenching! Always great if you can DIY and save some money plus learn a few things along the way...never know when it will come in handy down the road!

    Great video! One comment I can make on the procedure (and I hope I am the first to tell this, as I learned this the hard way)? When the pin for the handlebar is removed (tapped down), the handlebars are free to move forward and back. And as they are pretty tall and heavy and when they are not snug, they can easily fall back onto your tank, creating a couple nice dents into your tank. So with these after market handlebars, always be aware that when you release the bolts, you catch the handlebars as just a towel will not prevent these dents.
    Luckily for me, the towel prevented scratches and the dents could be removed by a specialist without painting.

    Hey Steve, Thanks for the share. I bought the bars the put them on my 15 Road glide and they look great. I wanted to share something I found out by accident. When I de-pinned my throttle by wire connector the white center piece came all the way out and with the center piece out i found it fairing easy to de-pin.

    Thank you for a great video! Had to run my harnesses separately on my '18 RG Ultra...didn't have the big molex connector, but the connectors it does have made a pretty big lump, even staggered a bit. Other than that, I would say that the hydraulic clutch cable "just" was long enough! Total time to change was almost 3hrs, but that was with the required beer break. Love the bars, and again thanks for the great tips!

    My little tip for golfers - for the brake and clutch assemblies, I use my old golf club covers the way he used a Crown Royal bag. Slip them over and they can dangle safely without fear of scratching the paint. If you have some lying around, it's better than spending money or fooling with towels and tape. LOL

    Great video. My only critisism would be if youre gonna do the bars, do the risor bushings at the same time. Harleys stock bushings are garbage and unless you want to do this job again soon, do them while youre there. Other than that, if you follow this video, youll have no problem doing this job by yourself or with a friend. Outstanding content as always.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      never had an issue with the newer model bushings. Although I agree as back in the day they were crap....they have stepped their game up a little but that being said if you are going to change this is the time to do it. Ive had several 14 and up bikes thoughs and never really had issues with them. If people wouldnt pull their entire body weight up using the bars, the bushing would last longer. Slide your rear back on the seat and push up instead of pulling on those bars, so to speak..if that makes sense.

    • @dougfaulkner6799
      @dougfaulkner6799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Feed the chain and pull with the string, the chain can break. The propose of the chain is it easily follows the bars and finds the opening due to its weight and flexibility.

    OK Steve, here's an oddball question. What is the blanket you are using for your workbench. Kinda in the process of getting a better workspace in my garage and I recently ran across a good bench from Seville Classics, however, the top cover seems like a soft pine. A little too soft for work IMO. Any directive or information would be greatly appreciated.

I have several...another good use is laying them down in the floor to put your pags on or whatever other tin you take off your bike...they have served me well over the years and the wife got tired of me stealing the "extra blankets" and seeing them in the garage floor lol

      That ignition bezel was definitely an after thought by Harley lol you just have to press in the front tabs and then find a small pick or screwdriver to push the rear one down and click it in....if the tabs break, which they do, you can get a replacement on amazon. Wish I'd seen the road 6 bars before wasting money on the kst bars. I don't know if there was some sort of weld booger inside the bar or what, but no amount of trying could get the wires through, and trying was just tearing wire up. Ended up scrapping several hundred dollars worth of new bar and going back to the stock shit bars on my RK. If this virus ever goes away, I'm saving up to try again with these.

    • @aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacc
      @aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacc 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To add to my own comment; Heated grips adds a small amount of additional wiring, nothing complicated. Note though that the left/right cables do not have different sockets, so mark 'left' and 'right' before removal so you know which wire to reconnect to which socket (left cable also fits right socket and vice versa). If you don't, you might experience problems such as one grip not heating up.
      An extra addition; after reconnecting everything the 'check engine' light remained on. Using the Odo button (top left button that you removed earlier) you can reset the error codes. Be sure to write the errors down before resetting; in case you accidently damaged a cable or connector, having this info will help you find the problem.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing you could have done is either pulled a wire out while you were pulling the wires or unplugged the green connector inline while pulling the plug...I know it sucks but at this point you have to check the connectors. It happens...you just have to get in there and double check your connections and if you had to de pin like I did in this video double check your pins are in the correct location and pushed in all the way.

    Is it true that narrower bars make maneuvering and handling much better? U-turns etc. I am thinking about replacing my stock bars on my 18 street glide special. I am 5’9” Do you have any recommendations.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I more narrow bar would make it easier..I run 10" la choppers twin peaks on my SG and the first time I had to do a u turn I felt myself reaching way out to make the turn...very uncomfortable ..the "pull back" on the SG bars is also something you need to look at. RG and SG bars are very different ...If you look how your bars come out from under your fairing and then up, that is the pullback measurement. The RG bars just go straight up from the neck so there is really no pull back. If you get a 3" pullback your hands will much colser to the fairing so when making turns its hard to stretch out that far...a 6" pull back would bring them closer to you and make it easier. now the SG bars, like the RG bars can be literally pulled back towards you too. It really takes time and riding to adjust them. Just much harder on the SG as there is more stuff to take off. Best thing you can do is go to your local HD and test ride a few used bikes with bars on them and see what feels good.
