One of the best cars ever built. No need to be expensive to be good. Miss it a lot.

This car above all, despite the Mercedes W123 e-class, Land Rovers & Toyota Hilux / Land Cruiser, is the workhorse of the African continent. After 60 years of design, manufacture, & use they are still, today in 2023, more comfortable than any other car on the road today, which is saying something.

504 and 505 are the best machines that Peugeot has ever manufactured .

Still use them In Africa to this day because they are so reliable and easy to fix and Peugeot diesels used to be found in London taxis

I miss our old 504. Diesel with a 4 speed manual, a little newer than that one. Great car!

Where are you from? nowadays have a peugeot 504 pick up with this engine and it is very strong and economic I do 200 km all the days. it has air condition and 5 transmission. I live in Argentina here the distance are big.I could buy a car most new but the spare parts are economic and it is a classical car very cherished here. Regards!

Well at least you were driving a great car the right way unlike this uploaded with the trash auto trans. For those who don’t truly “value” cars and probably can’t actually drive. 🤦‍♂️ disgusting. F autos. All day every day.
I have two 505s myself. One turbo d the other PRV V6 (Delorean Engine) both manual.
Wouldn’t have it any other way.

My father had bought a 2 year old diesel 504 in 1975 in Izmir Turkiye. Couple of years later engine was damaged beyond repair during driving, probably due to bad servicing or chain failure. The mechanic who was a friend of my father's, swapped the engine with a gasoline 504 engine successfully and it was our main car until 1992. We had it until 2004. I also had the chance to drive after I had my licence on 1995. Never will forget it.

@@HK-fz5rn Well I think there were no good mechanic for diesel cars at the time. Anyway I was not born, so I had no say in the choice 😉

My first car was a peugeot 504 with 1.9 indenor diesel, with a whopping 56 bhp. It had the old glowing system, where there was an actual glowing spule behind holed metal cover. It was pain to start at -20C, took forever to glow, you had to yank the starter in order to glow, but not too much so it would not try to start prematurely. Took few minutes at those temps :D But it was amazingly rugged car, you could drive over any speedbump at full speed with total comfort.

There was no turbo diesel on the 504, unless the engine from a 505 was swapped in. On the back it says "Diesel".
Interesting car, really rare and even more so in such good condition!

I had a 1975 wagon, naturally aspirated. However, the local dealer did get some 504 turbos in during the early 80s, they had one in the showroom with the hood up.

Impressive - I had a '75, and that car was almost impossible to start at those temperatures. I guess there were some improvements with the XD2S - mine was XD90. Missing the little hose that runs from the intake to the vacuum pump I see...

Where’d you get the euro bumpers? I’m guessing just a lucky find? Looks nice! I just picked up a ‘79 504 4 speed diesel

    • @EvanDickert
      @EvanDickert  ปีที่แล้ว

The bumpers were swapped from an early 504. It takes quite a bit of modifications for the rear bumper to work and look cohesive as the trunk floor is lower on the late cars. Congrats on the purchase, they are fun cars and pretty much indestructible.
