I just built a very similar build for my son since his PS4 died. The only difference was I used an Athlon 220g instead of the 3000. When I got the 550, I was very disappointed that my gtx 770sc out performed it by a pretty big factor. I would have put that card in the system, but the power supply I used wouldn't support it. It'll do until we eventually get him a PS5, but yeah, stay as far away from the RX 550 as you can.
Used dozens of the 200ge and 3000g rigs, absolutely perfect for ‘mom & pop’ family builds, where they browse,Facebook, email, zoom. Ect.Old games about the 775 Intel gen- stuff runs well. And retro console & home computer gaming is another world of gaming never even hinted at on this channel. But there’s that.
2:50 I've bought the exact same graphics card. But mine can run Just Cause 4 on 40 FPS (no V-Sync, No Anti-Aliasing, No Ambient Occlusion, 720p, But Very high graphics on every other.)
Consider going used. I just picked up an i5 4440, 8gb ddr3 and a motherboard bundle for $120 today, and while older, the i5 has 4 cores and will perform better in some games over the 3000g. I'm pairing it with an RX 480 I got for $130 second hand, and the PC should offer reasonable performance for $250. Dell Optiplex machines with i5 CPUs can be found for $100-150 US depending on amount of ram and hard drive capacity. Throw in a new psu and used graphics card like the RX 470/480, and it'll offer better performance than the athlon and RX 550 for the around the same price.
For those looking to buy something nice (and at least half of it new) on a budget: get the cheapest b450 board with a vrm heatsink (around 50 eur), slap a quad core in there (50 eur if you can find a good Ryzen 1200 AF, or a 3100 for 90 eur if you're feeling fancy and can't find anything else), then look for an HD 7970 on ebay, where I'm from I find those anywhere between 30 and 50 eur used. So that's about anywhere between 130 to 190 eur (depending on luck, availability and/or choice of cpu) for a nice cpu/mobo/gpu combo. The rest of the parts you can source for about 150 new. That's a solid system for a little over/under 300 eur.
if you want to further cheap out on the parts, i would recommend AVF/Alcatroz casings + PSU bundles, 25$ for casing and PSU(alcatroz even include a 100mm exhaust fan in some casing). RX 550 has 2gb variant, although not recommended. you can cut another 40$ from this 2 deductions. If you're serious on gaming, it's wise to spend another 50$ to upgrade to i3-10100f+h410 combo, another 100$ for GTX 1650.
On the Fortnite part when you questioned on if the stutters were the memory frequency or the CPU, it's most certainly the CPU. Fortnite has shown to dislike dual core. Built my cousin a build that included an Athlon 3000G and 8GB RAM @ 2400MHz (We found out it was only running at 2133 though, fixed that later after we swapped CPUs) and it was a stutter fest at the most important fights. Changed it out to a Ryzen 5 1600AF and it ran as smooth as it should at 144fps also clocked the RAM to 2400MHz and expanded it to 16GB. While it was at 2133 it was just fine, so it really must be the CPU. I think Fortnite is CPU bound so dual is a no-no
I bought my first PC in July and got this case, an A320m-k, 3200G and an aerocool PSU, then later a 1650super and just the other day upgraded to the ryzen 3100. The case is a bit crap, but i just wanted to get going and have something to upgrade over time. The 3100 and 1650 super amaze me for their price.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the graphics are in many games and how good it runs. Most of the graphics look quite a bit higher than I would consider low.
At about 2 months ago, I've just built myself a new pc. Basic amd apu stuff, with the uncommon athlon 220ge. I'm still paying the parts (brazilian economy is pretty hurt by the virus), but just today, I found out a local guy, who's selling a ryzen 3 2200g for about the same price that I paid in the athlon. I hope the deal remains active for the next week, so I can upgrade for more threads and better igpu for a minimum investment.
Try to build the cheapest 1080p/1440p/4K system you can. I think it'd be neat to see you do a little series going up in resolution and making the cheapest compromises you can.
I had built a similar system for a friend 1 year ago, but with a GT1030. It works well with WoW Classic (low, FHD). Wouldn't recommend that, too, but he just wanted to play Classic for as cheap as possible with new components.
The cheapest pc I've ever put together was 120 bucks total, A PC with Q6600, PSU, Mobo, and RAM = 20 Dollars, GTX 650 = 40 Dollars, and an UpHere Water Cooler = 60 Dollars (Mainly for aesthetics but keeps the Q6600 very cool) Currently use it as a secondary streaming pc, runs 720p60 great!
This is why second hand is the way to go if on a budget. There are plenty of 3rd, and 4th gen i7 motherboard cpu bundles with ram going for under £150 nowadays. Pair that with a second hand gtx 970 or 1060 and your rocking.
550 was the last AMD card to come in the low profile version. It was easily shot down like a dog in the street by the 1050 Ti LP version and I never even gave it a second look. I'm quite sure anyone looking at new with a tower would simply opt for 570 as I am sure there is very little difference between the two in price.
Build a new ish pc for my son. Aero bolt mini case 30$ amazon ASRock pro4 b450m 50$ ebay used Ryzen 5 1400 50$ locally 50$ used xfx Rx 560 4gb 50$ locally DDR4 3000mhz 8gb 49$ amazon Ssd 60gb just for Windows & 1tb 2.5 hdd 40$ locally 450w corsair psu 32$ I haven't put it together but should run any game at 50-60 fps and should keep running and has plenty of upgrade potential. For upgrade paths IMO buy a decent motherboard and psu. Cpu,gpu, ram, storage, and case can always be upgraded by swapping parts. But if you buy a decent psu and mobo you won't really have to take everything apart. Also try to buy 1 part at a time. And always be on the look out for local things you can pick up.
All the 2200g/2400g and 3200g/3400g seem to slowly vanish now. At most german retailers they went out of stock and probably will not return ever. Amazon prices are rising since last week as well. Still those are very capable APUs. I was very surprised by the performance.
You can still get the AMD FX CPU's and 760G & 970 motherboards new on Amazon. I personally never had experience with the FX series CPU's but lots of people bad talk them, so I bought the FX-6300 and a 760G to pair with a R9 380, 16gb of ram and 700w psu I had collecting dust in a drawer. I just dont see it. Weather thats Windows 10 or various microcode updates I'm unaware of there is 1 game out of 30 that I've installed on it that has a stuttering problem, it holds up very well in 2020, at least in my experience.
Just as a sidenote here - please avoid using Aerocool power supplies. They may make good fans, cases and some other stuff, but for their PSUs they go to Andyson. The stuff inside the Cylon you bought is made by them. They're the OEM. But the quality they provide is... not good. The Aerocool KCAS lineup of units has a defect when the PFC can be opened at the wrong time and cause an explosion in the power supply unit. The VX series is fire. Literally. It can go on fire. Please keep this in mind if you plan to do any more builds with PSUs sold by Aerocool. You must not.
Hey duuuud I'd like to see some Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord benchmarks if you can manage! The game is in early access right now so it would be fun to see later on how the performance has dropped or increased. Great video as always
My recent upgrade was from an ebay company called CCL, bought a Ryzen 5, 8 gigs of ram and a mobo for £200ish delivered. OK the mobo isn't the greatest but its sturdy, the chip is last gen Ryzen but its a 5 so no biggie there and the ram is just a stick of generic DDR4 and well with the RX570 8gb I haven't found anything I can't run straight out the box and my main game World of Warcraft:Shadowlands looks abs stunning at full maxed settings. Forza 4 looks astonishing, and it set itself auto medium to high across the board but where it shines is Davinci Resolve, no more 20 mins rendering as it was on my Vishera build, half an hours vid done in under 5 mins suits me fine, only thing to do is migrate hard drives to a M.2 and a bulk HDD which waiting for january sales for that one as I want a 1tb SSD and a 4+ bulk HDD for putting slow stuff on. I paid less than the 550's £75 for my 570 with 8 gigaroonies on board, meanwhile the 10xx nVidia people are beginning to notice support from nVidia is beginning to slow down as their not so long ago cutting edge vid cards are being cycled towards legacy hehe /smug smirk ;) nVidia is just too greedy and too quick to make obsolete perfectly viable video cards whilst my 570 just loves it being all super supported by AMD.
The graphics card is actually better than the Xbox One's GPU. And I bet the CPU is too, despite the core deficit. The one thing missing from this video is the total cost. If you throw in the cheapest SSD it comes out to around £260. That's pretty good really for a complete system.

Not bad, I'm watching this on my budget PC under £300 with new parts, 2200g @3.5Ghz with 16GB 3200 RAM & ssd. Plays Skyrim SE on high (at 1080p) Assetto Corsa's benchmark is over 30fps on standard settings (at 720p) Elite Dangerous on max settings too. In my next comment I'll let you know how it handles The Witcher 3 (need to download it first)
I struggle to understand the logic of expecting two cores to be enough for any playable frame rate. A 4 core CPU would help massively in games like Valhalla
The Athlon 3000G was bottlenecking the GPU by a lot since it's a dual core CPU. I'm using Asus Arez Phoenix RX550 2GB paired with quad core i5-3450, 8GB 1333mhz dual channel RAM and it gives me 15-30FPS more than what it gave in this video.
Can you re-run with maximum overclock? I think that'd be interesting. 3000g can overclock well and if that's micron e-die then that will also clock well. Red dragon isn't powercolor's lowest tier so the gpu might do well too. Obviously isn't an option if you took the a320 but b450's can be had for almost a320 prices and those Ryzen coolers are $10 on Facebook marketplace...
I mean forgoing the gpu entirely with more ram (while most certainly lowering performance) would have been the better option. Or just getting the 3200g since it does have 4 threads if i remember correctly. Having a more complete system is in my opinion better in the long run than going for pure performance right off the bat. Tho i'm aware this video is not about that at all.
@@btmeant578 he already did that with the 10 series but for the most part he still uploads videos subject to older hardware and or low budget and id say 30 is pretty bad for any resolution honestly, i wouldnt even play a single player game at 30 fps let alone 40 but thats just me (exceptions for games like microsoft flight sim)
You didn't really need the graphics card with that build. I used some noname 2400mhz ram (£29.99) and on my a320 board (£39.99) I managed to overclock the ram to 2999mhz, and overclock the graphics on the cpu to the settings you suggested in your previous review. The CPU cannot be overclocked on this board. I Used a £19 120gb ssd. My case was a new old stock £22 on ebay with built in 250watt power supply- This was perfect for a 35w cpu (£49.99). As a cooler I used the £8.99 AM4 Arctic Alpine passive cooler (Silent) and maxed out 50-60 degrees flat out. I only play World of Warcraft and get 30-50fps on graphics detail 4. It will dip to 20-25fps in raids but doesn't seem to lag and fully playable at 1080p. Oh, and windows 10 was £3.99 for an OEM key on ebay. bargain!
I wonder if this PC is better than mine. I have the FX8320 at 3.5GHz, MSI 970 gaming motherboard, Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr III 3GB GPU, and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM at 1866MHz. My system runs most games at medium settings (No CPU overclock because I don't have an aftermarket cooler yet). Some games need low settings for better FPS but for the most part it performs good enough for the games I play. Would I recommend my setup? Only if you can get the above parts for a very low price and want a computer now while being on a tight budget. I priced out the above parts on Ebay and it came to a total of $288 with free shipping on all parts. The GPU I found was a 7850 model but is 3GB so the difference in performance versus the 7950 model should be minimal. After buying a power supply and case you would be looking at spending between $350 and $400 (maybe less if you were to buy a cheaper case). For $400 you can get a much faster system with the possibility to upgrade it in the future. I got the processor, motherboard, GPU, and RAM for free from a friend so all I had to buy was the case and power supply which cost me just over $80. I'm using this system until I can upgrade to a modern computer in the next year or two (keeping fingers crossed).
The challenge should have been: The cheapest gaming PC you can buld with all new parts... That sill can play everything at 1080p 60 (even if low presets had to be used)
I'm going to get a RX550 2gb LP as the other options are quite expensive and all I really want to play is BeamNG.drive, even on low settings. I also just want to play some other games that aren't too intensive, like portal 2. Portal 2 lags a little on the PC I'll be putting it in right now. the PC's current specs: Dell Optiplex 3010 SFF, Intel Core i3-3220, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Ubuntu 20.04. I'll be upgrading it to: Dell Optiplex 3010 SFF (again), Intel Core i3-3220 (again), either 8 or 16gb ram, a SSD, AMD Radeon RX550 2GB LP, and Ubuntu 20.04 (same install, again!) plus Windows 10 Pro. I just want to revive the machine. And breathe some new life into it.
The b450 platform is still great in general, I have a Gigabyte b450m S2H with an R5 2600 overclocked to 4,1GHz @ 1,4 Volt (bequiet dark rock 4 cooler from my previous FX system ) It also has a xmp profile for 3200MHz Ram . And they recently released an updated BIOS which supports the new Ryzen 5000 generation CPU's. Best 70€ I have ever spent on hardware.
I actually have that PSU setup for a budget system for my sis. So far it's holding up nicely, and for the price, it's pretty darn good Though I still think EVGA's W1 PSUs are the best for budget when you can get them on a deal
I just finished my pc. Mostly used stuff for a total 700€. Ryzen 7 2700 with a asrock b450m pro 4 + 16gb ram (220€) also i got a 2070 super for 400€. Greetings form germany
Instead of buying that rx550, spend a little bit more on RAM, get 2x8GB crucial ballistix, run it at 3400 cl14, and it will be faster then that rx550 and its cheaper for the total system, also draws less power. Also makes less noise.
Nice review :) At the moment, due to the pandemic (and working from home), the prices of all PC components (especially for anything decent) is going through the roof at present - and going for a used system might be a better idea. But even the low end right now is still a decent choice; my parents have a HP Pavilion laptop with terrible AMD E2-1800 CPU, and of course, performance is terrible. This machine would be a massive improvement over the E2! Also, this machine had no storage (unless you used your standard 1TB SSD?) but you can get 500GB HDDs off eBay cheaply. In fact, although not new, if you need storage in a hurry, buy a cheap Sky+HD box, and disassemble it to find a 500GB hard drive. :)
Let's say If I wanted to build a system like this, would I need to update and make changes to the BIOS or its ready to play the moment all the wires are connected?
that was my second gpu and I had to say it was good for the price. It could maintain a comfortable 60fps in newer titles at low to medium settings. or should i say, me?
Its insane the performance jump you would get from a old Ryzen 1400 and rx 570. Super cheap new budget parts have such bad price to performance in gaming scenarios.
so, you would be better going with a 3400g/B450m DS3H(4 dimm slots)/16GB 3000Mhz build for a similar price? would cost around the same and adding a graphics card down the line will be much more powerful, overclocking the graphics to 1650Mhz will net you almost identical performance to the RX550, even more in some cases.

I'm proud of you for giving it dual channel ram. That is more than can be said for Linus's budget Ryzen build of basically the same PC.

I've bought the exact same graphics card. But mine can run Just Cause 4 on 40 FPS (no V-Sync, No Anti-Aliasing, No Ambient Occlusion, 720p, But Very high graphics on every other.)
I’ve always wanted to start building PCs but price is the problem so i think I’m gonna start with something like this
Don't go new. At this price point go used.
Don't.
Go with as he said a 3400G or if you can't afford that go second hand
If you can add a hundred or so to the budget get a used rx570 or something, but yeah a 3400g is a great idea as he says.
Buy a old school dell and tinker with it
Consider going used.
That's a solid system for a little over/under 300 eur.
in France, we more often use " plat de résistance" than " piece de résistance" but this is nonetheless appreciated .
Vive la Reine !

if you want to further cheap out on the parts, i would recommend AVF/Alcatroz casings + PSU bundles, 25$ for casing and PSU(alcatroz even include a 100mm exhaust fan in some casing).

Where did u install the games? Did u use some magically means?
on the cloud 🤣
Pair that with a second hand gtx 970 or 1060 and your rocking.
my friend: the knockoff 007 game isn't that bad
the knockoff game: 002
You did just fine with "pièce de résistance" ; nothing to upset my very French hears.
Aero bolt mini case 30$ amazon
ASRock pro4 b450m 50$ ebay used
Ryzen 5 1400 50$ locally 50$ used

I haven't put it together but should run any game at 50-60 fps and should keep running and has plenty of upgrade potential.
Yes I understand same the Ryzen 5 1600 haven't gone down much it's a great chip
LOL it's the first time I see cheap brands in your channel that are attainable here in Argentina (namely, Kolink and Aerocool)
For what it is, it doesn't seem too bad.
Hahaha, I actually really like that case. It’s clearly trying to copy Fractal, and I love minimalist design.
In the next video, build a completely passive budget gaming build! (200ge, gt1030 etc..):D
I love Aerocool's 140mm DS fans. they are amazing
002 sounds like the Dollar General version of James Bond 😂😂😂
You should try a cheapest pc with a nice case that is able to play games and can be sold for profit and the parts are commonly available at that price
I dont know what it is but I could just watch your videos 24/7
This was fun to watch, since I currently have Asus P7H55/USB3 ATX LGA1156 Motherboard, Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1 GB Video Card, 4Gb RAM, old hard drive PC.
Getting new one soon... This is what I have been thinking to get;
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Crucial P5 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD
Asus Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB STRIX GAMING OC Video Card
be quiet! Pure Base 500 ATX Mid Tower Case
be quiet! Straight Power 11 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply = so I have room for future upgrades
Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ 27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz Monitor
= around 2000$ for pc and with all pc peripherals
Is this good enough for next 2 year's? Thanks :)
Aerocool is pretty decent , my 650m is still holding up , 45$ for 650 watt , 80+ bronze , rgb and semi modular system is nice
You should have used GeForce 210 for “ultimate gaming experience”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you seemed to have missed typing the word WORST between Ultimate & Gaming 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Build the cheapest pc with parts that says "gaming" on it!
Remember when this used to be a budget gaming channel?
I mean, it still is
@@TotallyCreativeNameBtw he reviews stuff like 3070s now and calls 30 fps at 1440p bad performance 🙁
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum has the properties of rubber and gum
My RX 550 is 640 SP clocked at 1190 MHz, Redragon
We need more old hardware reviews
The b450 hdv is old reliable for real. Overclocked my R5 3600 to 4.5ghz stable with no issue for over a year.
So far it's holding up nicely, and for the price, it's pretty darn good
Though I still think EVGA's W1 PSUs are the best for budget when you can get them on a deal
still better than like every chromebook
Now that's comedy
I just finished my pc. Mostly used stuff for a total 700€. Ryzen 7 2700 with a asrock b450m pro 4 + 16gb ram (220€) also i got a 2070 super for 400€.
Greetings form germany
That is a nice case since a like anti rgb and no side panel case
I think an intel 9100f would have been a better choice at almost same price
007 DID have an incompetent little brother if you think Operation: Kid Brother with Sean Connery’s brother is canon.
Let's say If I wanted to build a system like this, would I need to update and make changes to the BIOS or its ready to play the moment all the wires are connected?
Hope you’ll consider adding Genshin Impact to the list of game you use for benchmarks on these lower end machines.
I wanted this video since long time
that was my second gpu and I had to say it was good for the price.
