In post-apocalyptic California, brothers Billy Lee (Scott Wolf) and Jimmy (Mark Decascos) are highly trained martial artists living in the ravaged city of New Angeles. The pair have been trained by Satori (Julia Nickson), who took them in after their parents died. When Satori finds herself pursued by evil overlord Koga Shuko (Robert Patrick), who's intent on possessing her mystical dragon medallion, the siblings are charged with protecting it from Shuko and his henchmen.

Back then you was just a 10 year old 90's kid that enjoyed this movie and didn't care about film critics because none of us really didn't understand or didnt even knew of film critics. 90's we just enjoyed what made us happy

They filmed on the abandoned sets of Super Mario and Secret of the Ooze apparently lol. This movie is like the inner mind of all 10 year old boys in the 90s, has a little bit of everything. WWF, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Ninja Turtles was insanely popular around this time.
In cleveland, Ohio? Christ, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania could have been a better choice. Lol

Aww I really liked this movie. It was so cheesy, but it embraced it 90s style, and it worked for it. Plus, quite a lot of high profile actors and cameos for the time. Too many shows take themselves super serious these days, I miss movies that poked fun at themselves.

@winterwolfryan The most recent movie that I've seen that didn't take things seriously and kinda poked fun at itself and it's source material was the Dora the Explorer movie. It was better and more enjoyable than it had any right to be.

Yeah but like 1/1000th the coolness level.
Or you realize that Peter Gould one of the two guys behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul wrote this film.
Johnny Depp would be a great actor for a remake. He kinda looks like him with the glasses on.

This movie was a guilty pleasure for me. Even if you hated it, you couldn't help but feel sorry for Bo Abobo at the 1:54 mark. The 2 moments that I remember fondly are the "I can see you part" and "Please use other door"

The only parts of this movie that stuck with me: That dude's hair. "Hey look, it's the Lee brothers, Ug and Home." and "Oh shit." "You said it."
Robert Patrick was really the one who saved this movie in any way.
And I don't care what smartass critics say, I love movies like "Double Dragon", "Street Fighter" and "Super Mario Bros" because they were a part of my childhood.

Try The Warriors (1978). That is essentially what Double Dragon was inspired by. Then play the great playstation 2 Warriors game made by Rockstar. The recent movie John Wick Chapter 4 has homages to The Warriors in it as an easter egg.
Another villain I wanted to see in the film is Hulk Hogan playing the role of "Machine Gun" Willy.

Man. The 90s is the best decade ever. Period.
Wow, this movie was bad. All they had to do was make a movie about twins taking out some street thugs, then their gang leader stomach punching Billy's girlfriend, kidnapping her, him talking Jimmy into joining him in a street brawl that leads all the way to the office of the main mob leader & the two of them beating the ever-living crap out of him after discovering the power of their half-dragon amulets, nearly dying several times against people that are bigger than them, like Abobo. The incompetence of Hollywood never ceases to amaze me.
Hey, to make it more interesting, the bros are separated at birth! One in the gang that kidnapped Billy's girlfriend, but the half amulet both had since birth unites them since the mob boss who raised Jimmy tries to kill both during their initial fight. Billy's goal is saving his girlfriend. Jimmy's goal is confronting the man he considered a father to find the truth, since he loves him & this surrogate father tried to kill him, leading to the two bros fighting at the end, Jimmy for approval, Billy for his girl! Then they fight the mob boss! Gasp! DERRR!
The problem is Hollywood to often simply doesn't care about source material or respect the fans of those franchises. Contrast this movie with the way Technos handled the fighting game based on this movie. The game looks so much more appealing and respectfully handled.
@@ENiceGeo It's one of the reasons I went to school for filmmaking. The chance to make faithful interpretations of the things I love. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to get the gig, no matter how passionate you are about the project. Oh, well. There's always original stories or "inspired" homages.

I watched this on Peacock the other day because I'd heard horrible things about it and had to see for myself.
I enjoyed it! I don't get the hate. It's extremely campy and fun. I would have been very into this when it came out, but I was 2 in 1994.
Shuko had one of my favorite lines any villain has ever said in this movie, which was shamefully left out here.
Abobo: “I’ve already got the strength of ten men. This stuff will kill me!”
Shuko: “Perhaps. But you know, Abobo, I’ve always thought of you like a son. And like a son, I can always have another.”
"Huey. Lewis. Any news?"
“I JUST WANT TOTAL DOMINATION, OF ONE MAJOR AMERICAN CITY!”

@California Dreaming Nostalgia or not, any one of us that actually played the game would have made a much better movie. It sucks that the majority of people getting the opportunity are there out of nepotism or prostitution rather than talent. Much more money could be made by the idiots responsible for the hiring if they were smart enough to hire on merit rather than nepotism, a one time bj or identity politics. It's not hard to tell a good story. Those against nature/biology/history always lose. Badly. Because bad ideas are always bad.
It's not THAT bad. Granted, it's awful, but it's the same tier as the Mario Brothers movie. If you've seen that, then you are not too good for this.

I guess it was not a bad start for Marc Dacascos and Scott Wolf who starred in the film. Scott lately co-starred in the TV series Family of Five (correct me if I'm wrong), and Marc established himself as an action star, from playing villain in American Samurai with David Bradley, and playing the lead role in Crying Freeman.
I've got it corrected; it's Party of Five.
marc also is the chairman for iron chef America and nephew to chairman kaga for Iron chef Japan

Alain is a great martial artists so is Vidyut but I don't know if he speaks English that well but he sounded ok when Scott was interviewing him on a episode of The Art of Action but I think that Alain would be better now.

The game version is worth it.
The plot and characters of the game are also ten times better than this badly made movie, the game was dark, brutal and gritty like Fist of the North Star.
@KEN-1991 I thought as much movie remakes are never the same... what is this Nintendo? Probably one day will go to one of those retro games stores and trial unless it's on game app or arcade place if not I'd view a video easy version but I agree with this also the movie was a bit pre school level clichéd weak but is one of those things you watch waiting to see if there's a good part about to happen or more dramatic but nothing... probably a kid friendly type movie but it its a spoiler for those who already seen the real

I think they took the design of the sprite of Abobo a little too literally, because the original artwork depicts him as simply a steroid induced man! The games always exaggerated that in the visuals though, making the head and body look bigger than intended to signify boss look!

I never understood why all these random people were fighting each other at the end, and then they just stop when they kill Robert Patrick lol.
That's because the Double Dragons and Koga Shuko are the only ones who are given power by the Talisman.
If Double Dragon movie gets a reboot, I prefer director like Zack Synder (300 and Man Of Steel), Robert Rodriguez (Sin City), Paul Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil), James Gunn (Guardian Of The Galaxy), Taika Waikiki (Thor Raganork), Louis Leterrier (Clash Of The Titan), Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America Civil War), James Wan (Aquaman), Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Tim Miller (Deadpool), David Leitch (Deadpool 2), Chad Stahelski (John Wick), Patrick Hughes (Hitman Bodyguard) or Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland). Also done in 300 and Sin City style.
T1000 has become a joke in this movie 😂
