    Great aircraft. The unfortunate part about all this is that a lot of people that can afford this aircraft, should not be flying it. I've met a lot of individuals that think money / success in other fields can buy (flying) experience. It is a lot of aircraft to handle for a PPL / Single IFR pilot. One thing that gets me the most is "Oh, I'll get an IFR rating in case I need it". Well, my thought is that is the time you SHOULD NOT be using your IFR rating (if that's the only time you'll use it). If you have an IFR rating, you fly IFR every time, even on a sunny day. Flying IFR is like playing an instrument. You need to keep practicing to keep your skills / improve your skills.

    *What about optional analog gauges for oil, temp, etc., then digital? Digital may be the backup...old school...*

    • @oaktadopbok665
      @oaktadopbok665 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They knocked more than 150 lbs. of wires & sensors off the weight when they eliminated the steam gauges. Old school analog shit does not belong in a modern jet cockpit.

    Apparently it's like a rolls royce of the avaition industry. Wow. I'm still living in the 80s. Give me a Lear 23a. Shrill ear piercing fucking missile. The whole airport would come out to watch when a Lear 23 would go... they were loud loud loud.

    Love the TBM900. I have only one critique. I don't like the winglets. The wing was already more then adequate. To me, it just doesn't seem like Socata did enough research on it. Look at the PC-12NG for example. It's on it's "third generation" of winglet now. It just has a "Lego block" affect to me. They put it on for the sake of putting it on. Otherwise, I'm very impressed with the improvements on the 900.

    • @Anrboy
      @Anrboy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree with you. Winglets make a plane look more "substantial". Passengers dig it.
      And I am sure it has some kind of aerodynamic benefit. When you are trying to edge 330 knots out of a turboprop you need every little added benefit you can. That winglet might be the difference between 329 and 330 which in Marketing terms, is a huge difference.

    • @BOEINGNUT
      @BOEINGNUT 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Roberts I agree with everything you say here. The problem I have is the folks at Socata know their stuff. If you look at virtually every aircraft produced today, the winglet design is much more than the 90 degree angle look of the past. I realize that it's not exactly 90 but it looks like it. I just think Socata didn't research this design enough.

    • @Anrboy
      @Anrboy 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They need to leave something to improve on for the 950!

    • @stevenkorenek389
      @stevenkorenek389 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 950 will be a single engine jet, just watch...

    • @luer0211
      @luer0211 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to remember that the TBM900 is not a 100-tonn airliner. With its light weight and with rather low aspect-ratio wings, the amount of induced drag that's possible to remove using winglets on a machine like a TBM900 is limited. Don't get me wrong. I find it very good that they did mount a winglet as it will help a bit. But spending millions of dollars researching how to build the most effective winglets is not always the solution, and I believe that's the case with the TBM900.

    I was a fueler 30 yrs ago at van nuys and I thought I knew aircraft pretty well. Was just watching fox news about the tbm that went down this week and they mentioned the price almost 4 million. I almost choked. What? 4 million? Its not even a jet. I thought like a citation sp or a lear 24-25 was 3 million? I googled it. Yup 3.7 mil. Wow. Guess im a little behind on my aviation

      It burns 30 gph or so at 300 kn whereas a jet would burn about 50-60. Therein lies the economy in the long run and why its performance curve qualifies it as an advanced turboprop that has the same usefulness as a private jet minus the gas guzzling, so definitely worth the price for those in the market.

    The crash unfortunately was due to a loss of cabin pressure. Pilot lost consciousness and was slumped over the controls. The TBM kept flying until it ran out of fuel. Two fighter jets were sent to intercept after radio contact was unresponsive. Unfortunate accident. Condolences to the families.

      This planes don't have any device to alert the pilot on time that the planes is
      losing cabin pressure to take actions inmediatelly.? Thanks for your answer,I am not a pilot of course.

    my thoughts on mh 370. had to be catastrophic cabin pressure fail. all on board died instantly, hence no distress cell calls, ( NOT THAT THEY WERE ANYWHERE NEAR TOWERS, THATS WHY NO CALLS)plane somehow flew on auto pilot with minor adjustment TO SOMEWHERE, ITS A BIG OCEAN, there is no conspiracy here it crashed in one or just a few large pieces and sank. pilots, motives passengers were all thoroughly checked out, no ranson or claims of responsibility. its the only scenerio that makes any possible sense

      It's not an informative video. It's a promotional video. If you want details and are in the market, you'll either go to their site or you'll contact them.
      Or, find an actual review of the plane.
      Having said that, for what this is and it's intended purpose, it is a good video. It showcases the plane.
