I think one of the plastic zip ties that was on the winding, broke and created the snowball effect. Dad has sent it to a guy in South Dakota to be rewound.

That engine is a good one! Dad said, it always starts on the second pull. (If I was 83 yrs old, yes, 2 pulls. But it started on the first).

Looks like a failed rotor, vibration and gravitational forces due to rotation will challenge making a repair that holds.
